sounds like a dictatorship if you dont have to hear all parties involved

whatever though no need for you and i to get our panties in a bunch

Its called running a league something I doubt you know anything about anyway.

And considering makers came out pretty nicely in the whole matter, I am not sure what your motive is for starting this thread back up when it was dead after the ruling was made.

PhilliesGM, nice try    . But I did have the top bid for Carlos Delgado for 24 hours. So we can open Pat Burrell back up and give me Carlos? Hahaha.

yea, I believe if you were to get a player you deserve Delgado more than burrel. Let me clarify on this situation and this verdict.

I understand the ruling made because of what the constitution says but its gotta change. What if for delgado, i made a 2 year $500,000 bid then the next bid was $27 mil for 1 year by the Astros. Now no one is gonna top Astros bid, but then the next day we find out Astros doesnt have 27 mil in his cap...24 hours passed and now do i get Delgado for $500,000 because i was the next bid? I know im taking it to an extreme, but it shouldnt work like that.

I can tell makers was willing to take the hit and everything because his boy marinersgm was making out with his delgado bid THAT HE NEVER HAD THE TOP BID FOR 24 HOURS. There's no way mariners should get delgado, when only having the top bid for 2 hours and its bullshit he's getting away with because of the constitution.

While Mariners is a buddy of mine I do have to say I kind of agree with what Phillies is saying here. I think because of the way the constitution was though while this all took place that it was ruled the correct way and can't be changed, but maybe we should look in to making an ammendment to change this so that there isnt a crazy steal in the future of this league.

I am both fully on board with what you guys, as well as Padres and others have said. I was personally for re-opening the bids and re-starting the 24 hour clock relative to whoever the most recent high legal bid was, but that went against the Constitution. I had to respect that, otherwise all integrity goes out the window.

I agree completely that we need to go a little more in depth with amending our Constitution due to this case, because though this scenario won't happen all the time, this is definitely something that needs to be fixed. Phillies' Delgado example was actually spot on, and that is something we can not let happen again. As for this ruling, there isn't much to do, since the Constitution is already in place. I encourage anyone and everyone (as I said in my post with the ruling) to post ideas for Constitution Revisions in the Revisions Request Thread.

I would also like to point out, the two guys who are pushing for a Re-Opening of the Players, are two GM's who were pushing and bidding for these guys.

Spin = Delgado
Padres = Burrell

They didn't get what they wanted in FA, so they just want a chance at these guys.

Makers I love you too...but you really act your age way too often.

For you to accuse me of something so shady is ridiculous.
You've known me now for almost 3 years.

I'm truly insulted.

Secondly...while I WAS bidding on Delgado...I signed Todd Helton a few days ago and stopped bidding on Delgado.

I have not read any other post past yours yet Makers.
I see that there are 2 pages left for me to read.
So I hope that somebody set you straight.

But dude...you're reaching for something that ain't there.
And if you dont stop....I WILL STOP SENDING YOU NUDE PHOTOS OF MYSELF!

And that's a promise.

Wow!

I completely disagree with the Commisioners ruling.

To let these 2 guys get away with ridiculously tossing bids out there with no concern for the salary cap is something I have never encountered in a League like this before.
I dont care if the constitution was never drafted properly...what A's and Astros did is clearly detrimental to the League.
AND CLEARLY NEEDS TO BE PUNISHED VIA CAP HIT.

For this not to occur is a travesty to everybody in this League who meticulously checks their Cap room before placing bids.

I almost had to read the ruling twice.

And then...to award Burrell to Makers because of his ILLEGAL 5:35PM bid is not right.
Makers had the high bid on Delgado(2:48pm) at the time he made the Burrell bid.
A bid that would put him over the cap.

So that bid was ineligible and should be thrown out.
AS NOBODY WAS GIVEN THE CHANCE TO BEAT MAKERS 18.5 PT BID...BECAUSE OF ASTROS ILLEGAL 20 PT BID!

How do we know that a team out there wasn't prpared to beat the 18.5 points...but wasn't willing to bid 21.1 pts?

Therefore it's not right to award Burrell to the A's.
THE ONLY FAIR THING TO DO WOULD BE TO RE-OPEN THE BURRELL THREAD WITH ASTROS 3/27 9:11 AM bid of: 4 years 12 million NTC = 17 points

The Delgado bidding should also be re-opened with Mariners 3/28 5:31 PM bid of: 2 years at 17 million= 19 points

Because again...what if somebody in the League thought 21 pts was too much...but was willing to go 19.95 LEGALLY?

This is why the threads must be re-opened.

I strongly disagree with the Commisioners ruling.

I would not be bidding on either player....but what's right is right.

MarinersGM,

I hope this answers your question about the motives behind my reasoning that the threads should be re-opened.
For you to openly call out Padres, Phillies and myself without any evidence speaks more about you than it does anyone.
I can't think of 2 guys with more integrity than Phillies and Padres.
The three of us have been here since day 1 and have clearly spelled out why we feel the threads should be re-opened.

For a newbie like you to come in and start making serious character attacking accusations...you'd better have some serious fucking evidence.

If you dont...you've just exposed yourself to be an immature little boy like your buddy Makers.

You guys need to respect Steve and his ruling and abide by it and move on.

We can work on fixing this for future years which Steve has advised for but this matter is decided and we need to honor it and proceed with the 2009 season under the ruling which he made after looking hard into everything that was said in this thread and in compliance with the rules in the place at the time.

Spinels, you've got to be kidding me.

I'm not going to comment on anything you said, because the ruling was made. GET OVER IT.

And frick off with your whole little "Immature Attitude" It was cute, but now it's just dumb. I think my post of trying to be non-bias and admitting I messed up shows that I am not immature.

So go jump off a bridge john.
