Do you think that it's going to happen as they say? The general majority of people I talk to, and myself also do not believe 2012 is going to mark the end of our days! That said, I would like to know if people on here think that in December we are all going to die (or at the very least something horrific is going to happen?) |

The Mayan calendar did not account for leap years, so the date they had chosen as already technically passed. And they went to 2015 in Back to the Future |

Nope. Why do I say that cause every year some one says that the world is going to end & nothing comes of it. So every time that some one says that when ever the world is going to end I am reminded of the story "the boy who cries wolf" as every time some one claims it's going to end it never does. Kind of how the boy who cried wolf, & there was no wolf when every one showed up at least until the very end. But then by then no one believed him of course. ;3 xD |

I actually did believe this for the longest time, I didn't want to.... but I did believe it. Mainly not because of the Mayans, but because of what the philosopher Nostradamus said about certain things. But, as Goose Dennis said. A key thing is that the Mayans did not have a Leap year, so the real end would have been months ago (Probably around last November.) |

Nope. And take a look at this. Somebody unexpected will explain why 2012 is not the end of the world. Parody or not, it's pretty interesting. Edited by Yggdra, Jun 9 2012, 02:33 AM.

Scholars just misunderstand it,the Mayan's calender is actually a cycle of the sun around the galaxy, about every 26,000 years it lines up with the center of the milky way galaxy, there are suppose to be three different eclipses this year(typical sun by the moon,Venus with the sun,and the third is when the sun lines up with the center of the galaxy which is a tiny black hole, our sun is far enough away where it won't get sucked into it. Nostradamus has predicted a lot things accurately, but i question if scholars read his things correct he wrote them in way so the French inquision going on couldn't find out his predictions,he practiced alchemy to come up with his predictions, which was forbidden had the found out, they persecuted anyone they believed were a threat to their control. I think we'll still be around,2013 will come,we might as well post on here december 20th of this year so we know where we are that day. Edited by Flik, Aug 8 2012, 01:11 PM.

I've never even heard of any kind of official end-time prophecy on 2012. The new-age circles just say there's going to be some kid of awakening, and that's it. The whole Nibiru thing was made up by the same people who think the pope and George W. Bush are really reptilian shape shifters, (they could be on to something there. lol :P) or that ancient Sumerians were visited by giant space aliens called the Annunaki or something. If there exists some historical claim that 2012 was the end of the world, I'd sure like to hear about it. Come to think of it, I've never even heard of any ancient venerated claim of December 21st, 2012 being any kind of apocalyptic time stamp. Where the hell did all the hysteria even come from? |

Scientist investigating ancient cultures translating ancient text written a tabs and such, but a lot of ancient cultures seemed to have a lot of drawn pictures of creatures and beings they supposely encountered that were from another world, the ancients didn't know they were aliens to them they were the gods from the heavens and worshipped them a such. I've lost count how many false end of the world predictions that have been reported or claims of when it'll happen. |

I don't think it going to end, but maybe it could? |
It has been reported that some victims of torture, during the act, would retreat into a fantasy world from which they could not wake up. In this catatonic state, the victim lived in a world just like their normal one, except they were not being tortured. The only way that they realized they needed to wake up was a note they found in their fantasy world. It would tell them about their condition, and tell them to wake up. Even then, it would often take months until they were ready to discard their fantasy world and please wake up. I agree with this! | |

I don't believe it will happen. We have seen many doom days come and go and we are still here. |

I don't believe we're going to die in 2012. We can't just put our lifes on a mans statement. But the planets are going to align around December 21 2012 and that will cause natural disasters. |

VARIOUS reasons not to believe this sillyness! 1) The bible (if your religious) tells us doomsday will fall when A) There is only one world power/leader B) When we have no currency and C) When we LEAST ~fudging~ EXPECT IT! 2) The date has already passed 3) All the so called "Calender" actually did was predict cycles of the sun or some such thing. It would be IMPOSSIBLE to record every single date for the rest of time on one device (at that time). Even our computer calenders eventually end. 4) The mayan's were stupid You should all know this BUT THE MAYANS ARE ALL DEAD. They parished! Their ENTIRE civilization was completely obliterated. You know this means that, if their calender was meant to predict the end of the world for them (since they would of predicted their own end, not the end of people) they kind of failed at this task. Also this Mayan Civilization Destroyed - Their Fault! 5) When one person yells "END OF WORLD", well EVERYONE does. But everything that has tried to prove this theory right, have also used the very first person's claim that the calander was the reason, and we all now know this is bogus! So there. 6) And also this LOL |
