A holiday coming up that my husband doesn't recognize as a real holiday is Sweetest day (October 20th). As he sees it more as a newer holiday forced on us in the hopes of selling more candy & flowers..

So my question to ever one here is what holiday do you not recognize (or celebrate) in your home?

Well in the end; it makes cents in the cash sense as during this holiday more candy is sold, as well as cards & the like. Also according to the information I linked to the holiday 'sweetest day' isn't celebrated every where just in northern parts of the united states; which makes sense seeing as I live in closer to Ohio where this holiday originated. So I get exposed to this holiday a lot; the interesting thing to my mind is that this holiday was never around; at least until the year 2000 & then suddenly I saw ads for it on tv, radio & the like. It's been the same every year. x-x

I still can't believe it's not butter!

I don't pay much attention to most holidays, even the general ones. I kind of don't care for holiday commercials anymore.

I only really pay attention to the 'normal' ones. I think we could be here all night if I had to list all the ones I don't celebrate, lol

I was going to celebrate "Talk like a pirate day", but I totally forgot. :(
The lady at my job said I could dress up like a pirate and everything. XD

Sounds more like a theme day then a holiday, why quirky holidays get made often puzzles me.

The normal ones should be about being with family, friends, and loved ones, not the silly commerialism most have tied to them.

I celebrate Christmas, Mothers and Fathers day, Halloween, Thanksgiving and usually Easter (mostly just cuz my family does) and anything not included on that list I don't care about at all.
