Sitting upon a bench with my gaze fixed on the bloom of a bushy red leafed plant that grew comfortably in an ornate stone 'flower basket.' My wounds were coming along nicely it seemed, the pain had lessened – or I just got better at hiding it. Either way, bruising and swelling had gone down. I wore dark brown bosk hide boots with flexible soles. Simple leathers and a tunic made up of animal hides. It was not my usual one – my favoured – containing the snow larl pelt – was stained severely with blood and I did not think it would ever be cleansed. Instead I wore a mesh of dark furred pelts in shades of slate and black. The gash across the beak of my nose was barely visible and my gaze was settled into a feral scowl – as usual it would seem...- Upon my left hip, was my 3ft bearded axe, with its 9inch cutting edge. Even though days had passed – it was still stained with flakes of blood and rotting flesh. At my right hip was the 15inch Saex, and upon my back was a crude, yet razor sharp 2ft long panga. The ambush had taught me well not to be under prepared again. I glanced up as I saw a a guard moving in the direction of the gates in time for shift change.- (04/24/14 17:49:08 ) [.One of Many.] V A L I A |.MERCHANT OF SULPORT.| [-Volstagg's Compound-] A secluded Compound behind the Hall of Sulport. I noticed the slow movement of dark clouds overhead as I came into the stone garden. Regally attired, robes of burnished gold draped in beauitful lines from the slender of narrow shoulders. The high-neck of lapels were pristinely white, and pressed into crips lines, the soft pleats hiding the numerous metal hooks that held the material elegantly about a slender frame. The thickness of dark hair had been pulled back into a 5 stranded braid that spilled with splender down the line of my back, and as I walked I could feel the weight of it resting there. Soft wisps of obsidian played in the slight breeze to frame the small of an oval face, the delicate features of which were set stern with thought. The bruise along the curve of my cheek was a fading shadow, the only break of otherwise smooth porcelain skin. In my mind, I was going over the items that even now sat in the warehouses. There was much to be done. As had become habit, my steps led me over the white stone of the garden and palest eyes of green were immediately drawn to the vibrant blooms of red. I allowed the play of fingertips over the satin-texture of the petals for but a moment as I walked along. I paused almost seeming to sense you there before I had actually to lay eyes on you and half turned giving you the profile of my face, your view would be the perfectly unblemished portion of the left side of my face. My gaze would lift to find you, slowly my eyes would move over you with the scrutiny of a curious woman. You appeared in much better conditions than you had been but the stern gaze would not be telling of my relief. "Tal Volstagg, enjoying a reprieve?" I had yet to go back to that grim shop. A Den of death and decay. When I saw you appear, I rose slowly to my feet. My gaze drifting from that bushy plant and towards your porcelain features. Other than for the Oaths, I had not seen you since that fateful night, my gaze narrowed and a light chuckle rippled from my lips.- ”Tal Valia... It is good to see that you survived Your assassins.” -My pale blue gaze left your face a moment to drift down your choice of clothing with mild approval before snaking its way back up to find your own gaze and holding it. I knew you had been hurt during the ambush, but you hid it well and I wondered if you had sought medical attention towards it. It didn't matter – medical treatment was something I despised. Had I managed to remain conscious, I would have attempted to tend my own wounds... and probably succumb to death … but still, It was a stubborn filled pride and I knew the banes of having to express injury and pain to others, so I would not press you on that. I started to close the gap between us with slow – almost idle – steps.- (04/24/14 18:26:58 ) [.One of Many.] V A L I A |.MERCHANT OF SULPORT.| [-Volstagg's Compound-] A secluded Compound behind the Hall of Sulport. The soft light of amusement reflected in the depths of jade eyes. Your choice of words furrowed the perfectly groomed line of slender brows. "My assassins? You mean, my would-be murderers? It seems they were unsuccessful with both attempts. I was more fortunate the second time." Those pale eyes held to you, reading every subtle expression or flicker of your eyes. And as you rose to your feet, closing the distance between us, I turned to face you full on. The line of my chin lifted as you were given the complete view of my face. It wasn't in pride or arrogance, that slight lifting but moreso that act of a woman steeling herself for the complaint that might be raised as the bruise was revealed, the tones of blue and purple painted the sleek contour of that artful slope, the smooth skin marred by the heeling scrape that webbed across the canvas of skin to disappear into the darkness of a thick hairline. It was not in me to be vain, but neither did I like the idea of anyone looking upon me wounded. I despised that weakness in me and even should I ache with pain, you'd not see it. The strict line of posture held, as natural as I drew breath. I watched you come towards me and despite your own grievous wounds, I could see no outward sign of them. There was no pain in your eyes or in the naturally scowling lines of your face. But I would not mistake those idle steps for anything than what they were...deliberate. I had come to realize there was a purpose to everything you did, even if that purpose was beyond my knowledge. In the days since the death of the assassins many things had changed as realization slowly set in. My fear of you had long been irrational. I knew, had you wanted me dead, I would not be here in this moment. It was only because of you that I lived. And I wondered now, why you had gone to such lengths to see it so. Why? The question burned in my mind unspoken. The almond shape of eyes narrowed suspiciously. (04/24/14 18:37:32 ) .V O L S T A G G of S U L P O R T. Of course it didn't bother me much, I was a Man of the North and this was 'bikini' weather in comparison. The compound stretched high around us and some time in the next couple of hands, it would be given a fresh coat of paint. Indeed you would not see any sign of pain or injury upon me – other than the nose. - There was no limp to my left leg from the spear wound, No slight lean to my right from the cestus, and my left arm hung casually at my side despite the bolt injury. Hand hovering against the outside of that steel axe head. Even the gashes to my right side neck – where it met the shoulder – were hidden by the thickness of my animal pelt clothing. There were no additional inkings to my face just yet, nor any extra unseen ones upon my body... I would continue to cut that distance down until I was a mere one foot in front of you. My gaze was fierce – perhaps it would be seen by You – or others – as angry, irritated, and ready to Attack. No smile favoured my lips and the rugged features were chiselled into a stoic expression of confined solitude. ”You were indeed extremely lucky... As was I.” -Once more my gaze drifted. Openly and perhaps invadingly dipping towards your jawline, tracing its edge before washing along your throat and down the length of your clothing before suddenly snapping back to your face.- ”I like how You look today.” -I said simply, in more of a grunt than an actual sentence. My silence lingered, to see if you had anything further to say about the ambush, but then my right hand retracted, drawing by the Saex and towards the small of my back where a tiny pouch was fastened, I fiddled with the opening and retrieved a key – you might recognize it – it fit a certain shop door.- ”You never did tell me if you want to buy the place?” (04/24/14 18:52:25 ) [.One of Many.] V A L I A |.MERCHANT OF SULPORT.| [-Volstagg's Compound-] A secluded Compound behind the Hall of Sulport. Always to me, you were vigilantly aware of everything. It was my own habit to watch people, to know their habits, to know when something was different. I gave a slight nod, agreeing with you though I knew that our survival had nothing to do with luck. But if you were quick to dismiss it as such, I would not speak against you. At that, a smile would ply itself upon the curve of my lips. I was never one to be rude, especially when this was more to my favor. I would assume that travelling gaze of yours, was simply curious as to the extent of my injuries. I would not comment on your compliment, though there was a pinkening of the ivory skin along the curve of my cheeks. My left hand lifted, fingers uncurled in invitation for the key you held. "And the terms, considering.....the mess you left behind?" A fine-boned hand was held aloft---waiting for that key. I would not be opposed to owning the property, considering I had almost died there. It was now a very relevant part of my own history. A day that had forever changed me. Life was fleeting and there was no time to live in fear. The fan of darkest lash lifted as my eyes upturned to your face, awaiting a reply. (04/24/14 19:09:27 ) .V O L S T A G G of S U L P O R T. My head remained lowered for the moment and I did not speak straight away. We stood in that ornamental stone garden, upon clean white slabs and surrounded by stone baskets or beds, blooming with red flowers of every kind. A couple of matching stone benches were scattered around and a walkway stretched along its edge beneath the arch of the compounds upper floor – held up by thick stone pillars – one of which, stood a few feet behind you.... When I looked up – finally – You would note the flare of something fierce, swirling around the refined, almost dilated irises of my wild, rabid glare. I let go of the key – allowing it to slip through my fingers and fall towards the stone floor and it would seem as though time itself, began to slow...- -With my right hand empty now, it suddenly lurched up and forward in a snatching grasp for you. Fingers opening in an effort to wrap around either side of your neck with the attempted grab of your throat, if successful – my hand would practically cup your chin, holding your head up and beginning you drive you backwards. - my own powerful steps pushing towards you as I sought to move us. Slamming you back against the round, stone pillar. I was not attacking you with the same ferocity as I would an enemy, but I was certainly not attempting to be gentle either … My body would press against yours in a crude pin, my head dipped and my wrist tweaked to force you to look up into my eyes. When I spoke – my own face inches from yours – it would be in a light venomous growl.- ”I left no Mess behind Valia... None at all. What I did leave … was a battlefield littered with the dead bodies of. Your. Enemies. … Do not forget that. Ever.” -My words faded and my grip loosened, just slightly... My left arm had come forward so that for now, its hand was pressing against the front of your right hip, holding you against that pillar. The air tasted of rain and the skies darkened with the promise of a violent storm. I knew the signs and as my gaze found yours, I'd see them in the depths of the scathing stare of piercing blue eyes. Vaguely I was aware of the sound of metal striking stone as the key fell and clattered away. It seemed there was no time to blink, nor draw a breath when you sprung forward with the practiced movement of a predator encased in a human shell. Thick fingers found perch around the slender of my throat, my chin forced almost painfully upwards so that my eyes could see nothing but your face. Caught off balance, this awkward posturing of my neck, I had little choice but go where you willed. A dance of brutality it might seem and I yielded to it, the breath finally forced from my lungs as my back found the cold embrace of the stone wall with you as the driving force. It was only when the line of your body pinned me against the wall, that a small, pained sound would filter from between the enclosure of clenched teeth, the pink of lips drawn briefly into a grimace. Instinctively my hand held to the thickness of your wrist while the other found the curve of your bicep beneath the pelts that bedecked your frame and I held on. I did not struggle to free myself of you or even try to defend myself in any manner. I took the menace of your touch, of your words and the pale eyes that lifted to yours burned with a passionate anger. "Do you think I could ever forget what you've done? I will NEVER forget! Never." The whisper of my words shook with rage until it seemed my entire body trembled with it. The smooth skin of my neck was taunt in your grasp as I tried to swallow around the hold of your fingers. I was held in place by your ever loosening grip and the line of your body, the press of your hand against my hip seemed a little thing in comparison. Adrenaline flooded my veins like fire and it burned visibly on alabaster skin. 04/24/14 19:49:01 ) .V O L S T A G G of S U L P O R T. I had stood against three assassins when I could have full well walked away. You knew that. I knew that. They had come for you because of a mess you had been involved in long ago with the Inlet – against Me no less – which made it almost ironic. Nonetheless, I had stood for You, I had fought to keep you safe, not because of Duty or Responsibility. But because I had wished too. It had suited my desires to be possessive of You... The guard shift change had already taken place and the 'off duty' guard, passed by, heading into the compound to find something to eat. Despite your – position, he did not blink an eye on the way and my focus remained solely, upon You. Your words echoed through my head and my hand finally came away from your neck, falling to hang at my side.- “You owe Me.” -I declared with a quiet resolution, a sudden smirk sizzling across the break of a cold expression, My body pressed against yours now and since I had released your neck, you could – at a squeeze – slip away from between Me and the pillar. This was my private residence but the gates stood unlocked and the guards would not stop you from leaving if you chose. My left hand, still against your hip in a pressing fashion, would start to rise up – over the top of your clothing, of course. - palm flat and fingers raking as I roamed further up, against the curve of your right side ribs.- ”How I reap that Debt is the question on my tongue at this moment in time.” (04/24/14 20:17:13 ) [.One of Many.] V A L I A |.MERCHANT OF SULPORT.| [-Volstagg's Compound-] A secluded Compound behind the Hall of Sulport. There were many thoughts filtering thru the seive of my mind. Of the few things I knew, one was that IF you wanted me dead, I'd be dead. You had only to walk away and leave me to it. There was no denying what happened. Even now, in this moment, I would not deny that you were right. My gaze held yours as you declared a debt between us. When your hand fell away from my neck, I exhaled slowly, the release of that breath seemed only to draw you closer. I could have slipped from between you and the pillar, and out of the gates. And yet, where would I go, that you could not find me? I had seen the look upon your face and the steely resolve in the abyss of your gaze. There was no escape from that, from you. I did not move, frozen between you and the pillar, I failed to draw away from you in even the slightest. The rise of your hand, pressed warmly along the outside of my robe, explored the contour of my right side and you'd no doubt feel the expanding of my ribs as I drew a breath. My focus shifted, watching your eyes as you spoke. For a long moment my eyes held yours, so close that our breaths were one and when I inhaled it was the warmth of your skin and the soft perfume of flowers that filled my lungs. My gaze fell, the crystal prism of jade eyes hidden beneath the curl of darkest lash. "You saved my life, name your price so that this debt between us may be settled." You goaded me with your nearness, the climbing of your hand along my body. But I did not believe for a single moment that your price would something as simple as satifying a momentary lust. A low growl would rumble in the cavern of my throat. You were not a slave, nor did you admittedly ever present yourself as such, but you were no less appealing, at least to Me. And when I desired something, it was claimed. And What's Mine is Mine.... That hand would pause, just beneath the curve of those concealed, yet obviously pert breasts, My fingers and palm pressed firmly against that expand of those ribs in a hold with my thumb edged a little closer towards your right side chest. Your words ricocheted and I answered without hesitation. My tone remained low, and gruff when compared to the more civilized accent of Sulportian locals.- ”You are Mine until you Die.” -I demanded in a blunt fashion. I knew I could simple collar You and possess you That way, but I did not wish a slave, and I did not wish You to become a slave. I did not seek to break you into someone else, something else. I claimed you as a Free Woman, as my Kept Woman and it would appear as though choice was not part of this conversation. Perhaps it was merely the will of the Gods and I merely spoke a fact to You now. Or perhaps my following silence was a hesitation, a pause to hear what you would say to the matter I 'suggested.' The material cut to conceal the very curves that the pressing of your hand would reveal to you by touch alone. As your hand continued to travel upwards and finding perch at the curve of my ribs, my breath caught in the slender of my throat, the edging of your thumb upwards and you would feel the press of my body to flatten against the pillar until there was no give left in the arch of my back. And when you named your price, my entire body jerked with the shock of it. The finality of your words caused the rapid flutter of dark lashes as my eyes blinked wide. "Why? Why would you want such a thing?" I could scarcely breathe now. It seemed you had never trusted me. Second guessing all I'd ever told you. The death of my Captain, I had thought a blatant warning to stay away. You had thrown me down a hole, not knowing if I'd fall to my death. My mind was a carousel of thoughts, like a never ending circle, around and around it spun leaving me dizzy with confusion. It was only the strength of the pillar and the precarious placement of your hand that kept me in place. (04/24/14 21:10:43 ) .V O L S T A G G of S U L P O R T. I behaved as though I never trusted You, because I was a Man who constantly stood on edge against all those around me. An animalistic nature stirred whenever I found myself within your presence. I second guessed everything you ever told me because unlike others, I could not easily read you and such a thing was unfamiliar territory. This was not a sudden thing, no act upon impulse. It was a rising thing, set to purpose long ago – The Death of the Captain, after he had spoken For You and made impression that he would perhaps stand between us... when in fact. Nothing would, and nothing Could.... as for that black void I had dropped you through.... I may not have known that hole in great detail, but as Leader of Sulport, I knew the layout of the tunnels well, I had a map – within my head and I had a general idea that the pool cavern sat beneath us. It had been an educated guess and a risk I had been forced to take... It had not been an act of discarding anything. It had been an act of Saving. I wanted you Safe. Even at the expense of my own life... But I explained none of this to You. I would allow you to assume your own puzzlement and likely incorrect assumptions.- ”Because I desire too....” -I said simply, answering your question with continued bluntness. My left hand began to move again now, hand sweeping around and up your front to find your chin and grasp it. Along the way my thumb would deliberately rake against the sensitive nipple of your right breast, hidden beneath the soft fabric of your clothing. It was not a harsh grasp like earlier, merely a 'cupping, turning your head further up as you sought to dip those lashes and mask your gaze. It was unnerving and left me questioning my own judgments, my own actions. Your hand lingered only to touch me intimately, and the pale of my complexion flushed in muted shades of pink. My reactions to your were a surprise even to myself. I shivered visibly with the cupping of my chin, thick and rough fingers caught the silken canvas of flesh, so that my face was lifted to yours. My eyes lifted to find yours, the darkness of the pupil lost in pools of palest jade, like white flame those eyes simmered with the unknown. The high of cheeks burned hotly, the white of flesh nearly as red as the petals of the flowers the filled the space around us. Acceptance stained my voice as I said the one thing I could say. In a savage claiming, my head dipped forward to allow my mouth to lay rape to your lips for a brutal taking that lingered only a moment.... Then I was easing away from you, stepping back as my hand fell away from your chin and my crushing form once again allowed your body its freedom. My left hand would come to rest against the neck of that blood stained axe, thumb and index finger coiling around the thick wooden shaft, drawing it loose from its leather sling and placing that 3ft bearded axe down on the edge of the flower bed beside us. The head was 8inches across from the balled-hammer back end, and across to the 9inch razor sharp cutting edge... The axe had cleaved through Blacks knee joint, and his forearm.... the assassin's blood and tiny specks of his flesh and bone still clung to the axe head and shaft in crusty, flaking patches.- ”You will clean my axe... and tomorrow, I expect you to present your accounts, files, deeds, and paper work to me.” -For a moment I lingered, where I came from, it was customary to rape the woman you claimed, but I was the Leader of Sulport and so you would escape that fate in light of other duties I still had to attend too. Finnish forces had been raiding closer to the borders as of late and I had to spend the evening patrolling and scouting the woods... Perhaps I would find another scouting party by the stream, who knew. I let my words sink in and turned away with a victorious smirk. You were My Woman now, who knew what fate awaited you in light of such a thing. The brutal force of your lips on mine left the flesh bruised and swollen. And as you released me, stepping away, I peeled myself from the pillar, fingertips pressed to the swell of my lips. My gaze veered in a path of avoidance and came to rest upon the axe in your hand. An axe I had come to know to well for my own liking. I was left standing in the courtyard, speechless. The spindle of taper fingers wrapped the handle of the axe, beneath my fingers I could feel the dried flecks of remains and I let myself deny what I was feeling. My lips pressed together silently as my hand fell away, hearing what it was that you wanted. I had yet to document the goods now contained in the warehouses so now it seemed I would be cataloging those items on your behalf. I exhaled a slow breath biting my tongue as I watched you go. My eyes would narrow, my gaze falling from you to the axe now in my possession. I had a feeling in that moment that the assassins would have been a swifter, easier way to go. |
