(08/24/14 13:22:59 ) Kanady - Sulport - [-Wild Tarsk Woods-] Somewhere within the large thicket of ancient trees that sits halfway between Sulport and Fina. It acts as a borderline for the two homes and with a shady unstable peace treaty in play; neither side dare cross into the others territory through fear of causing a full blown war. says to ALL: my house was littered with old journals that I had never read until now. They told me a lot and I had gained information. With that information I needed to go on a journey. One that I can't share or talk about. I was sitting in the middle of the room amidst the worn pages and found that there was a pull urging me to go in search of some answers. I laid out a map and followed the vosk river eastward, at Lara I could pick up a Kaiila or tharlarion and cross the barren land towards boswell pass. I wouldn't need to go to the pass exactly since what I was reading was that there had once been an outlaw camp that was now gone but the entrance to the old camp was there but most likely well hidden. I would need warm clothing, but I would also need to pack lightly because I needed to travel fast. It acts as a borderline for the two homes and with a shady unstable peace treaty in play; neither side dare cross into the others territory through fear of causing a full blown war. says to ALL: i took my time packing the journals safely away in the backpack and cleaning the whole house so that it all looked perfectly normal if anyone should try looking for me. I would throw in a change of clothing and my warm cloak and anything else I needed I would purchase along the way. I was thinking over the best way to travel. No one would miss or think anything of my boat being gone. It acts as a borderline for the two homes and with a shady unstable peace treaty in play; neither side dare cross into the others territory through fear of causing a full blown war. says to ALL: I left the treehouse with the backpack through the trapdoor in the porch floor and turned west toward the wall where I would be able to leave through the gate. I would get to the boat and gather the crew and with any luck we would be able to set sail by nightfall and then I would be on my way to getting some questions answered that had plagued me for so long. Pushing through the timber and pushing away the underbrush I walked along the wall while the sun was dappling through the leaves overhead. I would be enjoying the day if I didn't have this ahead of me. (08/24/14 14:43:48 ) [PIC] Kanady - Sulport - [-Gates-] At or on top of one of the two gates of Sulport. Situated to the West and to the East, both gates have a fully manned gatehouse and portcullis. Archers are watching you closely with notched arrows in their longbows says to ALL: The gates were ahead and I stopped a moment before going through them. The guards were used to me and so I was sure they would barely be able to remember that I was here. I would return, but I had to go where the journals lead me. I had thought of telling someone where I was going, but I didn't want to be stopped. I was through the gates and on the road to the docks. (08/25/14 09:52:22 ) Kanady - Sulport - [-Docks-] Is on or near the Docks. says to ALL: I was aboard the boat and all the crew was no assembled and we were now ready to sail for Lara. The backpack with all my journals were stowed away in my cabin and I was standing at the rail on deck as we left the docks, there was a slight worry about this journey. To find the ruins of this outlaw camp would no doubt be a dangerous trek. I was wishing that I could tell someone, but if I did then I probably wouldn't be able to go. The maps are with the journals so I could study them but I've never been to that region and I wasn't sure how to find those tunnels. If I find them they might reveal something of my family, one that I never got to know. Who knows maybe I would be back before I was even missed. (08/25/14 10:56:51 ) Kanady - Sulport - [-Vosk River-] Is upon the Vosk river. The town of Sulport sits nestled along its verge, and ships come and go from its merchant docks. says to ALL: we were passing by docked and anchored ships and vessels and I was worrying at my lip because I had not gone this direction before. We were now gaining open water with the backs on either side of us sliding by. There were other boats on the water, some running cargo. there were coves or bays belonging to other cities. the city I was going to was at the beginning of the vosk and then I would take kaiila the rest of the way. (08/26/14 05:00:08 ) Kanady - Sulport - : We had arrived in Lara and wasted no time locating the blacksmith shop where I made the purchase of 4 kaiila. Two of the crewmen would go with me and we would have on pack kaiila that would also serve as a spare if we needed it. Once they were saddled we tied on botas of water and filled saddle bags with food and tied on the bedrolls. It was then that we set off. I was hoping to make the trip in record time. (08/26/14 05:12:11 ) Kanady - Sulport - -=Boswell Pass=- Traveling through Boswell Pass between the Voltai and the Thentis Mountains says to ALL: We set out from Lara, pushing the kaiila, I wanted to get across the open fields as quickly as possible. I was already wishing to be back on the boat and headed back home. The pack animal was tied to the saddle horn and the ground was seemingly flying by beneath their feet. We were riding north along the voltai and would soon start up the pass road. There was no time to look at scenery but we were watching for other travelers. I had a quiver with arrows strapped to my back and the bow also crossed over shoulder, I carried a large knife at my waist and a smaller one tucked inside the top of my boot. (08/26/14 05:19:46 ) Kanady - Sulport - -=Boswell Pass=- Traveling through Boswell Pass between the Voltai and the Thentis Mountains says to ALL: the animals were well fed and would not need to stop during the day. We each had water and so the daylight hours would be spent in the saddle and maintaining the fast pace. I was shrouded in the multi colored cloak that would blend with our surroundings and my hair tied up within the black bandana and my hands encased in the soft leather of my gloves. We passed by farms, at least we saw fencelines but did out best to stay clear of houses and people. I was trying not to let my mind wander too far into the future or I might want to turn around and head for home. (08/26/14 05:45:38 ) Kanady - Sulport - : We were wrapped in cloaks made of muted blacks, browns, green and tan that would hopefully blend us with our surroundings from either the air or the ground. The road to the pass should be coming up quickly and from there we would look for signs of the old road that would lead to the long gone outlaw camp and from there to the opening to the tunnels. That's what was worrying me, i didn't want to spend a lot of time searching and yet it must be well hidden or it would not have been used. The leader of the outpost/outlaw camp had destroyed everything when he had left, but the tunnels had not been collapsed and so the writer of the journals had used them to hide out in when Mad Jack had left. (08/26/14 15:06:55 ) Kanady - Sulport - : it had been a long days ride toward the pass but we had reached it. According to our map we were taking a cutoff that appeared to be old and long out of use, in fact we weren't sure that it was even the correct path. The map was showing it though and as we climbed steadily over the rocks and between boulders, always keeping watch for a tunnel opening. (08/26/14 15:22:38 ) Kanady - Sulport - -=Boswell Pass=- Traveling through Boswell Pass between the Voltai and the Thentis Mountains says to ALL: upon reading the journals it seems that the tunnels were located where a tarn cot had once been and even though Mad Jack had destroyed the camp, it seems that remnants of the tarn cot remained. We were being very cautious now because we didn't wish to find ourselves falling into an open tunnel. we were now leading the animals our ever step was steady and slow. We walked until we broke over a crest and there we could see the broken remains of a tarn landing, sagging and half way falling off the side of the mountain. I stood and looked around this place and then I saw some rocks laid as if making a trail or pathway. I followed it until I could see a barely visible opening in the earth, the overhang was low but as we walked toward it and the closer we got we found that it was large enough for people and kaiila to enter. Yet if you were not looking for it then it would be easily missed. once inside we lit a torch and liftd it high enough to see that there were other torches standing in holders along the wall. we lit one now and then as we went deeper and the torches were leading us. We wound around until we came to a large room, one set up to be used as a hiding place even a blackened area of an ages old fire. (08/26/14 15:50:46 ) Kanady - Sulport - -=Boswell Pass=- Traveling through Boswell Pass between the Voltai and the Thentis Mountains says to ALL: It was clear by the burning torches that smoke would not fill the chamber since there was no smoke from the torches that were lighting our way. A person could hole up in here for days or longer, but I didn't want to spend days here, I wanted to find the treasure that had been put here many generations before me, my long past ancestors and as it was written in the journals, I had to be the last and only heir to all of this. we began scouring the cavern for the hidden tunnel. when it was, it was more amazing than I could have ever dreamed. From the time of the slave girl until the woman who had become an outlaw with Administrators and Tatrixs of great cities in between all that, this hidden trove of wealth had grown. I dug around until I found what I was searching for, the smaller twin scrimtar with the initial K etched into the blue stone. I grabbed it up and then stood in complete shock at all the treasure here covered in dust where it had lain for so long with no one touching it until me. I also took a bag of gold and jewels for the members of my crew, one that would fit in a saddle bag and would be easy to carry, then we left, the flame of every torch doused and every track erased so that nothing was left to follow. All signs of us being here would be wiped clean until we were out of the mountains and well on our way back to Lara. (08/26/14 16:04:28 ) [PIC] Kanady - Sulport - -=Boswell Pass=- Traveling through Boswell Pass between the Voltai and the Thentis Mountains says to ALL: every sign of us and the kaiila had been removed, even a layer of dust had been replaced so that our presence inside was gone and by the time we left it was morning again and it would be another long, hard ride back to Lara and then finally on the way back home again. My mind was on others who needed to be cleaned. I could not allow anyone to live who had the information to find their way back here. The crew was loyal, but....well it had to be done, it would be done before we reached Lara and the boat, it would be a horrible accident. Waylaid by bandits and I would be lucky to have escaped with my life, but the two with me had fought bravely but there were too many of them. It was truly a sad thing and we would all be devastated by this turn of events. What made me sad was that they were two of my best. (08/26/14 16:27:09 ) [PIC] Kanady - Sulport - -=Boswell Pass=- Traveling through Boswell Pass between the Voltai and the Thentis Mountains says to ALL: I would soon need to stop for a small break, I was not feeling well suddenly and I was having trouble keeping in the saddle. We had passed by some of the farms and orchards from the day before and now we were in a barren area with only a few stands of trees and it was as one of those that I would finally need to stop. The men were feeling good with their gold already with them, but I jumped quickly from my kaiila and tied it to a tree away from the others and I entered the grove of trees as the men milled around waiting for me. but i climbed to a high branch with the bow and quiver of arrows, waiting until the men were standing close. I could see their smiles and knew they were laughing, but I knocked two arrows to the bow and took my time sighting through the leaves of the trees, then I let them fly. As soon as they left the bow I had one nocked and another held in my mouth, each sent flying in quick succession of one another. Both men went down, dropping in an unnatural way and I knew that they were dead. The loose ends neatly tied. I eased from the tree limb and dropped to the ground, with the larger knife in hand I ran to the bodies and saw my arrows sticking out of them and felt for pulses. there was none. Before I left I used the knife to deeply cut their throats reaming out a large opening in the jugular so that the blood would drain quicker. then I rifled through their pockets and took their saddle bags. I stripped the tack from the kaiila and tossed it in the deep brush of the small timber and then rode off on my own beast. I was bent low over the saddle and the kaiila's long strides were eating up the miles. I should be back at the boat by nightfall. (08/27/14 06:49:40 ) Kanady - Sulport - [-Vosk River-] Is upon the Vosk river. The town of Sulport sits nestled along its verge, and ships come and go from its merchant docks. says to ALL: I had finally made it back to Lara, I did not stop at the smithys shop to return the kaiila but I tied a gold piece in a bag to the animal when I had arrived at the docks. The only time I had stopped was at the gates to the city to let them know I was returning to the docks and to my boat. I had to show them the paperwork from the harbor master and then I made a straight line to the water front. the deed I had committed was uncompromising and traitorous to my crew, but it was also necessary, at least for my own purposes, but I also wanted out of this town before the bodies were reported. I was rushing wild eyed and harried toward the boat. I was breathless and near to weeping by the time I boarded and collapsed onto the deck and then teary eyed I looked up to tell the crew what had happened to their ship mates. "It was horrible, we were leaving the voltai range through open grasslands when suddenly four arrows rained down on us, at least four. I was grazed across my back when the arrow plummeted through Big Al and then three more and they both were dead. We need to leave now and reach open water as soon as possible" There was a flurry of activity and the Captain visited the harbor master's office to complete the paperwork for leaving. By the time he returned we were already untying and soon we were out of the harbor and in the river channel. (08/27/14 07:35:08 ) Kanady - Sulport - [-Vosk River-] Is upon the Vosk river. The town of Sulport sits nestled along its verge, and ships come and go from its merchant docks. says to ALL: Below deck in my cabin a smile was radiating like the sun on a perfectly clear day. I laid out a black cloth on the table and slowly emptied the contents of the bag. There were gems amazing gems. That little slave girl had produced some greedy and cunning generations and I seemed to be one of them. Then the sun seemed to go under a cloud.......I was not going to think about that. I chose out some of the smaller, more ordinary gems and placed them in bags along with a few gold pieces each to give to the crew members for their service in this operation. I washed up quickly and redressed before going to the deck where I was able to watch the river rolling past as we sailed westward toward home. (08/27/14 09:36:53 ) Kanady - Sulport - [-Docks-] Is on or near the Docks. says to ALL: The crew were given their bonuses by the time we had docked and Ihad the saddle bags tossed over my shoulder as I strolled along the planked wooden docks. I would again follow the west wall through the timber until I arrived at my house. the mission had been a complete success as far as I was concerned and now I was back home. The guards snarled at me when I entered the gate and I snarled back, it was our ritual now and one we all expected. Of course their guard asses were now housed in the magnificent building that I completely rebuilt for them, so i figured they owed me just a little respect for that and I suppose they showed that by not killing me every time they saw me. -=There are hushed whispers in Sulport that Kanady is the demon spawn of Volstagg, born from a drop of blood that fell from the blade of his menacing axe!!=- =There are hushed whispers in Sulport that Kanady is the demon spawn of Volstagg, born from a drop of blood that fell from the blade of his menacing axe!!=- (08/27/14 09:55:08 ) Kanady - Sulport - [-Wild Tarsk Woods-] Somewhere within the large thicket of ancient trees that sits halfway between Sulport and Fina. Being female my actions were not like his but there was still the coldness and the refusal to allow others close that is why the boat and the treehouse suited me so well. I was in no way scared to kill, but I did it in a different manner, I came at you in a more subtle way but my enemies ended just as dead. the brush and the trees enfolded me in their sanctuary of wildness and solitude and I felt so completely at home here and I was close to finding out if everything was in it's place at the house. Later I would need to go into town and the hall where I would find if I had been missed. I stood at the stone wall that encircled the huge trunk of the tree and formed the familiar compound that was mine. I circled it and didn't notice any new tracks or broken branches, nothing down here looked disturbed and so I walked through the gate and climbed the steps up through the trapdoor in the porch floor. |
