[-Market-]
Is at the market, a large open square of stalls in the heart of Sulport. Vendors flock around you trying to sell the many different and exotic wares on offer.

says to ALL: I walked with purpose, manuvering the labrynth of boothes that coiled ost-like around the market. The growing darkness made it more difficult to identify the correct path and soon I found that I had circled around, passing the same boothes time and time again. Frustration painted lovely features with a grimace and I dared to sulk outright. The tent was gone. As if it had never been. But I knew without a doubt it had been here. And the womans words came unbidden. I had questions. I wanted answers. I walked the circle, standing in the empty space where that tent had once been. There were burrows in the ground where the frame had dug in, leaving at least some evidence that I hadn't completely lost my mind. I looked like a vagrant, standing in the dark.

The invisible fingers of the wind touseled loose tendrils of dark hair along the artful slope of high cheekbones. Robes of pale gray seemed white in the growing light of the moons, billowing phantom like around a slender frame, the only true evidence of a human form beneath the graceful drape of that delicate material. Movement drew my attention to the vendor that would have been a neighbor to that tent....were it still there. But it seemed he had been waiting and now stepped from the shadow of his booth. His steps were slow as he came towards me. I watched as he approached and despite the possibility of danger, I didn't move from that spot. My gaze was fixed on him as his was on me. As he closed the distance, he held his hand out towards me and my focus dropped from the lines of his face to that extended hand. A necklace, the strap of leather looped around his hand hung low and a simple pendant carved of wood swung with the momentum of his steps.

"She said you would come. She said this was yours."

His voice was rough and dry, like granules of sand had made his voice course and aged somehow. I reached out, taking the necklace from him and holding it up so that I might view the pendant better. It was foreign to me, a series of triangles looped together. It was nothing I had ever seen before. I wondered at its purpose.

"Thank you. If she returns, I will pay coin to know. My office is dockside. I am Valia. Find me."

The words were spoken low and swept away in the wind before I turned from him. The loop of leather was drawn over my head and the pendant hung nearly to my waist. The weight of it bounced against me as I walked away from him. Not another word or look exchanged.

Near or within the rock-faced building that houses the headquarters of Velox Fluvius Imports, seated just a stone's throw from the docks of Sulport.
says to ALL: -My feet began to move, and I found myself drawing down that narrow path. The high wall of buildings rising either side of me as I approached that door. My left hand reached out to press flat against the cold wood. I had seen this door many times now. It always looked the same, but it always felt different. My head dipped forward to press my forehead against it. I could hear nothing inside.-

-I don't know how long I stood there like that, but eventually, my hand slid down towards the knob, clasping it with a turn only to find the door unsurprisingly locked. I straightened up and my right hand reached for a leather pouch strapped to my Master belt. Fingers played with the catch and pulled open the top flap. What I retrieved from inside was an iron key. One that none knew I possessed. I slid the key into the hole and the door unlocked with a quiet -click-

-I pushed it open and stared at the darkness within for a couple of minutes. Soon enough, I found myself stepping inside and closing the door behind Me. I was smart enough to lock it again, and careful enough to move through the room without knocking into anything. My gaze shifted towards the front of the building, but instead, I approached a large cabinet and pulled it open to reveal a set of stairs.-

[-Streets-]
Along one of the many busy Streets where the shops never seem to close and crowds never fade.

says to ALL: My reason for being in the market at such an hour was now void. And because of the growing darkness, I would avoid the alleys. At this time, it was truly the most dangerous route. Creatures of all sorts made the alley their home and what ventured in, seldom ever came out. By default I was left to travel the streets, from the market and south, enroute towards the docks.

Fingers played over the smooth leather strap from which the pendant swung, and though I didn't look down to see it, I could feel the shape of it. Delicate grooves could be felt upon the surface of the wood and I was eager to see it in better light. I wondered how she knew I would return. And why the necklace had been left for me. She had been an odd woman, with her entourage of drum playing young women. Just thinking about them and I could almost smell the incense that had been burning that day. I inhaled, perhaps it was just my imagination, but the scent was light and fragrant like perfume, haunting the air around me.

The soft leather soles of sandals whispered my steps over the wood planking of the walk. My eyes lifted from the pendant, a slow travelling of my gaze over the docks once before that attention turned to the store-fronts of those buildings that sat nearly dock-side. I could hear the deep baritone of male voices in conversation, carrying over the waters and echoing off the stone-facing of the buildings. It was a sound that I had become accustomed to, living so closely. I fished for the ring of keys at my belt as I drew closer to the door. The single window at the front of the store revealed only darkness inside. The single brazier upstairs had been all I was comfortable to leave burning unattended. The key slid quietly into place and turned with an even greater ease.

says to ALL: -Considering my seven feet tall, and three hundred and thirty pounds heavy frame, I moved with a trained stealth and carefully ascended the stairs. My instincts were attuned swiftly to the quietness within the building. At the top of those stairs, I stared at another door. I knew where it lead, but I didn't know who was within. My hand laid to rest against the knob and with a subtle twist of the wrist, the door opened and swung away from me. I stepped inside and closed it in my wake. It was mostly dark, but a small brazier burned in a glow on the far side of the large apartment room.-

-My eyes swept the room, and I found it empty of life. I saw the Amphorae littered around, most of them appearing empty. And I saw that chaise lounge. My head tilted as I heard the faintest of sounds, not from up here, but from downstairs... For the moment, I stepped off to the side of the door, so that if it should open, it would swing around in front of me and I would be discretely shielded from view, but for now, the sound had not been evident enough for me to know if I was no longer alone.

says to ALL: The heavy weight of the door swung open with complaint of iron hinges, the sound hollow like old, dead bone. The sound, on its own, was nearly an ominus warning that went unheeded. The ring of keys was caught in the curl of long fingers as I stepped inside and shut the door. Encompassed in darkness, I turned then to lock the door. It was secured further by the plank of wood that I then slid into place, it sounded like the fastening of a bolt. There would be no surprise entrances through this door.

My steps were slow as I walked towards the back of the store. Even in darkness, I could appreciate the herringbone pattern of the wood floor, the planks of blonde shades more obvious. I crossed over the trap door hidden in the design of the floor and tried not to think about the drop from it to the waters below....if they still existed. After the explosions during the war, there was no way to know for certain if that cavern remained. And I wouldn't dare to find out unless there was no other choice. But it was a route, a way out of the city if one were in dire need of such things. I circled the tall counter at the back of the store and turned towards the large wardrobe and pulled open the doors. I thought nothing now of the stairs within, having travelled them so many nights only even half-aware of anything. The doors were drawn shut behind me before I began the ascent of the stairs. They were solid beneath my steps and still there was the distinct setteling sound of wood and stone. The building was still adjusting to its newly renovated skeleton. My fingers settled on the knob and turned....

says to [.Deaths Lady.]V A L I A: -The first sound to reach my ears, was the closing off a door downstairs. Though I could not see, a life time of war and death had shaped my senses to be accustomed with anticipation and assessment. I could easily tell that it was not the back door, but the front. My body stiffened to press back against that wall. I stood straight and my hands hung casually at my side. The fingers of my left hand brushing against the neck of my axe... I heard the slight groan of the wardrobe doors opening, I could tell by the foot steps that it was a Woman, and even when you were on the otherside of that upstairs door, I knew it was You...-

-My left hand travelled past the axe when I saw that knob twitch, signalling your hand upon it. Instead of the axe, my fingers wrapped around the slightly curved bone hilt of that Seax knife, I slowly drew it free from the leather scabbard and that 10inch long strip of steel, glistened menacingly in the light of the brazier. I did nothing else... I just kept myself flat against the wall with my head turned towards the knob.-

says to .V O L S T A G G of S U : The knob turned as I pushed the door open and stepped over the threshold. The single brazier provided a vague golden glow. It seemed brighter, after having travelled the dark stairwell to the top floor. As I let go of the knob, the lightness of that door caught in the force and simply ghosted open blocking my view of what might be on the otherside. I was alone and confident of my own safety in that moment, the sound of my steps growing distant as I walked further and further away from the door. The lattice screening obscured the view of the balcony from the docks and it was that area that had become my favored "nesting" spot to view the happenings below and it was to that alcove my gaze fixed upon. My habit had become to enjoy that choice seating that allowed me the privy of many conversations unrealized while drinking whatever wine I could acquire. I paused at the chaise lounge only as long as it took to poor a cup of tonight's wine. It was a delicate blend of various fruits and honey, a Sulportian brew to which I owed my sanity....or what was left of it. The cup was lifted, pressed to the curve of my lips as I took a long drink.

I was nothing but a silhouette in that darkness, half human and half something else...something I'd yet to discover. The fingers of my empty hand grasped the pendant and lifted it so that I might admire it.

says to .V O L S T A G G of S U : I was staring beyond the diamond pattern of the lattice, the cup of wine ghosted so close to my lips. I drank the wine like it was air and I was suffocating. Was it the touch of that breath that stirred the fine hairs along the nape of my neck or was it merely the static of your presence that made me realize your presence. A thick arm, like steel, wrapped the slender contour of my waist and the press of your palm seered like fire as I was drawn flat against you. I shifted back, against you instead of away as my hand covered yours. Slender fingers wrapped the thickness of your own but I had yet to attempt to peel them from me. As the sharp edge of that blade kissed the graceful curve of my throat, I exhaled softly and my eyes closed with a flutter of lash to kiss the high of those cheeks. The cup in my hand was dropped, a scant amount of wine spilled as it fell to the floor but that empty hand found the wrist of your knife-wielding hand and held it there. It was an invitation, almost a lover's embrace and I welcomed it.

"Whats yours....is yours. Do it, if it's what you want."

The words shook as I spoke them--- low, breathy and could have been the whispers spoken between lovers in the dark of night. It was likely the most intimate invitation I'd ever dared to speak.

says to [.Deaths Lady.]V A L I A: -My heart beat was excited and strong as it hammered against my chest in a fast rhythm. Your fingers gracing my flesh sent waves of adrenaline pulsing through my blood and a low growl breathed from my lips at the feel of you pressed back against me. You appeared to know it was me immediately, but I did not question how. My head dipped forward, to nuzzle in a violating manner against the crook of your neck and shoulder. My chest would expand against your shoulder blades is I inhaled your scent and breathed you into Me. When I spoke, it was with lips against the bone of your proud jaw line.-

“You should take better care in securing your... Home.”

-I felt my hand relax against your stomach, The left one drawing away from your neck despite your hand seeking to hold it in place. I found myself taking two steps backwards and away from you as I sheathed that knife back into its scabbard and motioned around the apartment.-

“And you might try water instead of your wine.... Wouldn't hurt to clean up the place either.”

-My tone had risen to almost a scorning temper of steel... Perhaps part of me was just attempting to turn it around, and avoid facing the fact that I had just invaded your home. But part of me was also fully aware of the amount of wine delivered to this building. Even if I wasn't, the empty amphorae all over was a dead giveaway to your late night habits. I began to walk away, pausing in the doorway. I was silent as I turned to look back at You. But inside, my animalistic nature was screaming, roaring... My expression was stoic as always and my gaze hard. But my words softened slightly.-

“ Goodnight, Valia.”

says to .V O L S T A G G of S U : My own pulse lept in my throat and it wasn't just the wine that made my mouth go dry. I would know the feel of you against me, having experienced it once before but that event was burned into my memory. A shiver slid along my spine, an unspoken betrayal of sorts. It was good that you could not see my face as you leaned in, the warmth of your words caressed the line of my jaw and I could almost feel the movement your lips there.

"None that you didn't send, would dare to trespass here."

It was truth. Eventually, with time, maybe I would be an easy target. But not now, it was too soon after your return for any to dare such a thing. There wasn't enough certainty that I was now simply a cast-off, forgotten. That knowledged burned in those pale eyes as I turned my face into yours for that fleeting moment before you peeled yourself away from me. It was a sad smile that tipped my lips.

"But the wine keeps me warm."

I watched you, unable to mask the regret I felt at so much but something kept me silent. My face tipped forward and for a moment, a breath of time, shame burned red hot on that porcelain skin. When I felt it had passed, only then did I dare to lift my face to yours, eyes seeking the glacial blue gaze of yours when I spoke softly...

"Sweetest dreams to you."

As for me, I would finish the wine to ensure I would not be haunted. Perhaps tomorrow, I would clean up the empty containers. Or I'd just acquire more wine. I had yet to decide. My gaze slid away from yours then but not before the challenge revealed itself in those jade eyes.
