|.MERCHANT OF SULPORT.|

[-Market-]
Is at the market, a large open square of stalls in the heart of Sulport. Vendors flock around you trying to sell the many different and exotic wares on offer.

says to ALL: I stalked quietly along, skirting the many boothes. In time, I would pause amid a crowd of faces to survey the goods on display. The many things I seen, boot and leathers, thin leggings that would certainly keep you warm in dead of winter. And too there were various types of weapons. There were wickedly curved blades and small hand axes, whips of every design. And I even stumbled upon a maker of bows and fletcher of arrows. I might have to return with actual coin. But that did not hinder the path of my gaze over everything. Slow. Studious eyes took in the buffet of sharp and shiny things.

says to ALL: My steps slowed as I ventured past a stall only to turn back and take a closer look. Layed out upon the table were various implements of the sharp variety. I allowed my fingers to rest gently, perched lightly on the very edge of the counter top. There were so many of various shapes and sizes and....design. I wondered if there was a purpose for some of the oddly shaped blades or if it was all just a matter of preference. From the shadow of the rear of the stall there was movement. It was slight and might have gone unnoticed but my gaze lifted from its slow cast over the blades to track the movement in the darkness. A menacing smile appeared with the flash of white teeth as a man became more visible with every approaching step.

"Window shopping, Lady?"

His voice was a cold, almost casual, shade of devious. My eyes swept over him momentarily before sliding once more to the blades. I said nothing as he came closer.

says to ALL: The man mistook my silence for shyness, or perhaps, fear. And though my focus seemed to the be the wares on the table, I watched him from the corner of my eye. He came closer still, mirroring me on the opposite of the counter.

"What does a pretty Lady like you need such a thing for anyway? Tell me, and I'll help you pick out the right one."

He crooned softly, like he was speaking to an ignorant girl. The sound of his voice now, irritated me. I wanted nothing more than to slap him across his smug face. But I was a vision of calm. Proper on all accounts when I lifted my face to him, the cowl of my hood casting soft shadows along the artful slope of high cheekbones, pale eyes glistened as my gaze shifted over his face so very slowly. My gaze never wavered from his and he took a soft breath and his lips parted once more but before he could speak, I cut him off with my own words.

"To peel fruit, of course. Soft. Fleshy. Fruit."

Each word was enunciated with a deliberate persing of lips. My voice dropped into secretive tones. But there was a beguiling innocence in pale eyes of jade that proclaimed I meant exactly what I said. And at least parts of it were the truth. A smile curved the silken flesh for a brief moment as I set my hand upon the handle of a delicate appearing blade. The pommel was slender, elegant in design and suited for a woman's hand.

"I like this one. "

I lifted the blade in hand and held it between us, the sharp tip glistened a warning in the soft glow of nearby torch.

says to ALL: He never bothered to look at the knife in my hand. Instead there was an intensity to his gaze as he watched me. I didn't care to speculate at his thoughts. He could think whatever he wanted. I maintained his gaze but my right hand freed the coin purse from my belt and I dropped it onto the table of wares with a hollow thunk. That sound did break his focus. He was all about the coin now. He reached beneath the counter and withdrew a small sheath, giving it over to me as he palmed the small purse of coins. Our transaction was complete. I tucked the knife into its sheath and secreted it away within my cloak, turning to go. As I spun around, I heard him speak once more...

"Lady, I didn't get your name."

I laughed softly, the sound a whisper on the wind. I did not look back but continued walking.

"No....you didn't."
