|.MERCHANT OF SULPORT.|

[-Pier of the Black Eel-]
At or beneath the lone pier of Sulport. Named because of the many dock eels that have claimed many lives in the waters around the pier.

says to ALL: There was no sun, leaving the sky to darkness. The vastness of black would have been dreary were it not for the shimmer of distant stars like the dust of diamonds. The pier was quiet, the sound of water lapping at the wooden pillars drowning most all else. Oil lamps swayed in the light breeze, the flicker of flames danced in challenge, a battle for its fiery life. The waters surface rippled, a dark mirror that reflected back the image of the sky so that it was hard to tell where the heavens ended and the water began. It seemed simply infinite.

The oil lamp nearest me had long since gone out. Casting the area I stood in unbroken darkness. From the railing, I stared out at nothing. A cloak of dark gray billowed from the clutch of narrow shoulders, like a shadow clinging for its life. A braided strap of black leather wrapped my forehead, holding the soft tendrils from my face but it did nothing to tame the inky mane of waves that hung to the small of my back, those waves thrilled to dance freely in the winds embrace. Palest eyes of jade shimmered, my gaze moving slowly over the small cascade of waves that rushed towards the shoreline. My mind wandered to him. And I allowed myself the moment to wonder just where he was. At times, it felt like we were worlds apart. But somewhere, I knew, he looked at this same sky. And if that were the case, we couldn't truly be that far apart.

It was a cold wind that kissed the high of my cheeks until they burned red. The change of seasons was on the air. Change was coming. Not just in the season. I could feel it, in my blood, in my bones. The weight of it sank deep into my soul and I could feel the struggle of it to break free. It was a frightening, yet terribly exciting thing. I knew not what it would bring. An evolution of sorts. Everything was connected, though I had yet to see all that the fates entailed for me.

My fingers slid over the thong of the necklace, drawing the pendant from beneath the accordion pleating of soft gray robes. Carved of raw wood and stained in shades that resembled old blood, I traced the triple knot of triangles with the tips of slender fingers. It was a curious design that I still had yet to decipher.

says to ALL: Had destiny set a course long ago? Was it the purpose we fought for or against? I was unable to see the truths. They were there, on very edge of my sight, whispering to me. A voice I could not quite hear or perhaps the language was foreign, unknown to me just yet. And somehow I knew, it would be revealed to me.

Fog rolled slowly over the water's surface, the vapors coiling in the play of warm air over the cold currents of the vosk. And I watched at it crept towards the shore. There was the sound of the horn at the docks. My gaze was drawn towards it and I watched the sparking of lamps, to light the way for any incoming ships. It was an amazing thing how so many ships passed quietly in the dark, sometimes completely unaware of one another.

I turned my gaze away from the light and exhaled a shaky breath. There was a current of emotion, wild and savage, coursing in my veins. And I was uncertain of its cause. I could embrace anger but this...this was something entirely new. It left me somehow stronger and weaker all at once. It seemed an impossible thing. A reckoning was coming. And there was a debt to be paid.

says to ALL: It was a fire consuming me, burning my bones and scorching my soul. I would rise anew from the ashes. The wind whispered my name and I closed my eyes to better hear them. Like thoughts and memories, the sound invaded my mind, taunting me with images. There was a flash white, the purest ivory of bones. Red, like blood, the sun and burning stars as they fell from the sky. Black, bottomless and all encompassing so that it felt I suffocated beneath the weight of it. The screaming music of steel on steel, a deadly chorus of battle. There was the fierce war-cry of so many men that echoed through my mind. But it was the feral gaze in eyes of bright blue that stole the air from me.

Was it a true foretelling? Or was I simply imagining things? My instincts warred within me, warning me to heed the visions. I was so very conflicted, unable to understand what was happening. My hand fell from the banister as I withdrew, fading into the dark of night like some demon imagined suddenly summoned into the abyss.
