[-Wild Tarsk Woods-]
Somewhere within the large thicket of ancient trees that sits halfway between Sulport and Fina. It acts as a borderline for the two homes and with a shady unstable peace treaty in play; neither side dare cross into the others territory through fear of causing a full blown war.

says to ALL: I had spent most of the day out in the woods, exploring the old trails and perhaps even giving my own attempt at tracking. I was learning to manuvery the woods without leaving much evidence of a trail. It took a certain mindset that I was trying to adopt so that it simply came naturally. Soft soled boots treaded lightly over the upshot of various roots, avoiding the areas of mud and sodden soil so that my footsteps were not left behind me. If there were rocks, I'd use them as stepping stones. And as I walked, I listened to the sounds of nature around me. The wind held the bitter kiss of cold, promising that winter was nearing. Porcelain cheeks were chilled, cherried beneath the bite of the winds. A short cloak of black draped to mid-thigh, the thick cowl of the hood was drawn up to provide an extra barrier to the wind. The braid of my hair was lost somewhere beneath it all. Dark leathers bled into the black leather of boots so that it was hard to see just where one began and the other ended.

In the distance, I could hear the soft bauble of the stream. My steps would take me closer to it, using its sound to mask my own steps. Eyes of palest jade shifted into the thicket of trees ahead.

says to ALL: I knew that every step was drawing me closer to that invisible boundary between Sulport and Fina. At all costs, I would avoid getting to close on the off chance that I might wander onto the lands patrolled by Fina. I became distracted as I walked beneath the ancient trees, their gnarled limbs reached high into the skies forming a skeletal canopy that swayed and bowed beneath the press of wind. It was haunting to see and still, I found myself unable to look away. I walked beneath that forest of trees, my eyes cast skywards to watch. Clouds were slowly moving across the sky, leaving me with a dizzy sensation though my feet were upon steady ground. I felt like a child beneath the giants and turned, spinning in a slow circle as I walked.

A beast of a treet suddenly stood before me, its truck so large that I would not have been able to wrap my arms around it if I tried. I was forced to walk around, roots as thick as my arm mapped the floor around it like veins bleeding off into the rich soil it had made home. I balanced upon one, stepping from one to the other, as though it were a bridge or ladder. It was entertaining in that moment. At least until I rounded the tree and in the distance, what I saw took my breath away. A thicket of trees set off near the stream and the branches of one held a house. Kanady's house. My next stepped missed the root entirely and I fell forward. My hands shot forward to catch myself, to brace the fall but I could not tear my eyes away from the tree house. It loomed ahead like a dream.....so unreal...and yet....it was there.

Pain shot up through my hands, into my wrists as I tried to catch myself. A knotted root shot up like a slap in the face, busting my lip and skinning my chin in the process. I pushed myself up, barely. Staring up at the treehouse. Blood plumed a vibrant red against ivory skin, my heartbeat echoed in the swollen flesh of my lower lip. The metallic tinge of blood stained my palate as I tried to right myself. From my hands I brushed the moist dirt, using the back of my sleeve to swipe the blood from my chin. I should get up. I should keep going. But in that moment, it was all I could do to just sit there. My lungs expanded as I drew air....but I suffocated with the weight of it.

says to ALL: I sat amid the tangle of roots, aware that I was bleeding and dirty but uncaring of it all. A cold wind played over through the limbs above, whisteling a haunting melody. Eyes of palest jade shimmered as they filled with unshed tears. Maybe it was the coldest of winds that made those eyes mist or the ache of injuries obtained in the fall, maybe it was a combination of these things. Or perhaps there other reasons that haunted me, not fully yet realized. But the promise of it was coming. A knowledge that settled into my bones and took up residence there. The weight of it had hit me like a mega-ton of bricks. The treehouse here, somehow felt wrong...it felt like a betrayal. I was still unable to comprehend it, how I could feel hope and anger, happy and sad....all at once.

The taper of slender fingers found clutch upon the trunk of the tree and I used that anchor to haul myself up and to my feet once more. Another step and I dropped from the roots to solid ground. And though I tried to walk away, my steps took me further towards that house in the treetop.

says to ALL: My stride quickened, adjusted to the rolling acreage of forest and rock so that each step ate up the distance so much faster than I had realized. I found myself suddenly standing squarely in front of the tree that was a house. I had never in all of my travels, seen anything like it. And though I had heard of Kanady's treehouse, I hadn't quite envisioned it. Looking at it now, was like looking at an entire different reality. Thoughts whispered through the darkness of my mind....."how could this be?"... the question echoed over and over. I knew exactly how it had come to be but it did nothing to explain why it disturbed me so much to see it.

It was like a fist to the stomach, the air I breathed set my lungs on fire and it felt like the earth was spinning beneath my feet. My face tipped upwards as I followed the trunk of the tree up to where the thickness of branches framed the house it held hostage within its limbs. The hood of my cloak fell back, revealing suddenly the thick braid that weaved its way from the crown of my head and spilled down the back, the serpent of its length disappearing beneath the cloak. It seemed my feet had rooted to the ground and I was unable to move from that spot. If Kanady were home, she might look out and think perhaps that I was up to something.... But as much as I tried to leave, I found I was not yet ready to go.

[- The Stream -]
A serene stream that runs all through Wild Tarsk Woods and out across the peasant fields. The stream is not connected to the Vosk and the water is fresh. In parts, the stream is no more than one foot shallow, in other parts it is said to be twenty foot deep. Following the stream would cause you to encounter a couple of rocky waterfalls in the woods as well as a small fishing pond.

says to ALL: I attempted to mask my feelings, pretty features drew into a neutral expression as finally I turned away. My steps veered in the direction from which I had heard the soft whisper of the stream. The air grew colder as I neared the streambed, the moving currents of the water adding it cold touch to the area surrounding it. I found I did not mind it so much. The cold took my mind from the burning thoughts that sought to reduce my insides to ash. At the waters edge, I stooped down, cupping my hands to catch some of the clear water. I used it to wash the dirt from my hands, and then the stain of blood from my chin and lip. It did nothing to soothe the raw skin, the subtle bruising that I could almost feel along the curve of my jaw and the throb of my lower lip. My tongue trailed the grove of teethmarks that tracked the interior line of flesh, a parting gift from the sudden impact with the root of that overgrown tree. It would heal, no permanent damage done....at least none that could be seen.

I stayed by the waters edge for a moment, lingering in the stillness. The quiet of the wilds was peaceful. Those pale eyes haunted the line of trees that bordered the stream on the opposite bank. I knew that I was not out here alone and was certain I could feel the weight of eyes upon me. The almond shape of eyes would narrow as I peered into the shadows, watching for movement, listening for the snap of branches. But there was nothing. My chin pulled upwards as I stood up to my full height, turning away from the stream then. My path now would take me back towards the city. And though the treehouse sat behind me somewhere, I knew it was not the last time I would lay eyes upon it.
