|.MERCHANT OF SULPORT.|

[-VELOX FLUVIUS IMPORTS-]

Near or within the rock-faced building that houses the headquarters of Velox Fluvius Imports, seated just a stone's throw from the docks of Sulport.
says to ALL: I awoke, curled in the chair I had fallen asleep in. The muscles of my legs protested as I uncurled them from beneath me. My toes tingled as the circulation began to return to them. I hated that pins and needles feeling and stood up, stomping my feet lightly. It helped distract me and encourage the flow of blow. I half-limped towards the chaise and sat down upon it. I continued to wiggle my toes, leaning down to pull the boots from my feet. Stocking-clad feet set to the bare wood of the floor for a moment before I stretched my legs out before me, rotating my feet at the ankles. I would have to avoid sleeping in a chair like that ever again.

I lent back, laying my head upon the pillows. The furs were in disarray, lumped beneath me uncomfortably so I was forced to push them aside. I slid my hand into the folds only to encounter something foreign hidden within. I could feel the texture of wood as my fingers wrapped around it and pulled it free. I bolted upright, those pale eyes narrowed as I searched the room but found myself alone.

I held the object in the curl of fingers for a moment and without looking I could feel that it was a carving of some kind.

says to ALL: Those pale eyes glistened, searching the darkest corners of the room upstairs compartment suspiciously. As far as I knew, I had the only key. And I had locked the bars on both the front and back doors so. Which meant someone had either come in before I arrived....or while I slept. Either possibility left me with an unsetteling feeling. The pink furl of tongue glossed over dry lips, leaving the skin moist and supple. Slowly, the spindle of long fingers released their hold on the carved object and I held it out for closer inspection.

I exhaled softly, astonished with what I saw. The small oval face was lovely, the details of the eyes giving her a feline appearance, both exotic and dangerous in a beautiful kind of way. Someone had an eye for creation, I thought to myself, as I admired the skill in the carving. The smoothness of the wood and the easy, natural way the female body had been freed. I blushed softly, the smallest whisper of a laugh given when I noticed delicate instep of the tiny feet and the way the toes were curled tightly.

I turned the carving over in my hand and exhaled sharply. The wings were so intricate, the layers of feathers chiseled in such a way they seemed more a cloak. My eyes were drawn to the small valknut, the tri-group of triangles upon the left shoulder that made goosebumps pebble ivory skin. I turned the carving over to look upon the womans face once more..... I stared wide eyed in disbelief. I knew immediately from where it came. Long fingers curled tightly around the rendering, cleaved against my chest secretively. I stood from the chaise, crossing the length of the room. My steps were silent in the passing, the stockings gliding lightly over the wood floor as I stepped before the cabinet. This miniature wood carving was secreted away within the locking cabinet. I stood there for a long moment, my fingers curled around the knob, just listening. Aside from the noise of the docks outside, I heard not a single sound.

says to ALL: I turned from the cabinet, retracing my steps when I became aware of something rather curious. There were empty carafes placed around the room, as though discarded and forgotten. I lent down to retrieve one and brought up to my lips as if I would take a drink, but intsead, I inhaled softly. It had at one time housed wine within its rounded belly. Long fingers curled around the neck of the empty vessel, letting its weight settle along the exterior of my left thigh. I glimpsed another and stooped to pick it up in my right, repeating the inspection. It too had held wine. But I had not drank them. I had not had an entire bottle of wine in quite some time now.

The empty bottle was stowed in the crook of my left arm as I roamed the room, picking up all of the empties. Once I had all eight of the bottles in grip, I sat them one by one upon the cabinets surface. Each bottle was exactly the same. All smelled of wine. They were all empty. And I had no idea how they had come to be. Had the same person who had left the apple, left the carving...and the empty bottles? I turned from the bottles, leaving them upon display on the cabinet. My gaze lifted to the large painting above it. The woods and the play of shadows, the figure silhouetted in darkness. I had meant to inquire about the artist of the painting.... perhaps I would remember the next time I seen him.
