Minus World FAQ 1.Q&A Q: what is the Minus world? A: the minus world is a name given to the infamous unbeatable glitch level in SMB 1 Q: why is it called the 'Minus' World? A: because on the HUD the level display's as " -1" (note the space) Q: why the space? A: because in actuality the level is actually "36-1" but the world counter only goes to 35 (the lives counter goes to 99 and then 100 and above are glitchy characters) Q: why does the world counter only go to 35? (or why does it even go above 8?) A: no correct answer on this one, some people guess placeholder's... Q: how do you get to the minus world? A: look farther down in this FAQ 2. Getting into the Minus world Watch this for info on how to do it. " -1" = Identical copy of 2-2 but when you go into the warp pipe at the end you return to the begining Also Watch this for the minus world on the Famicom Disk System " -1" = Underwater 1-3 with pink and green color pallet, and messed up sprites (i.e princess peach sprites and headless bowser sprites) " -2" = Identical copy of 7-3 " -3" = The level is a copy of 4-4 set up wise, but there's flying blue bloopers and the castle pallet is replaced by underground pallet, and the lava is replaced with water, there's also no bowser at the end (the bridge is notably blue like the bloopers), and after you step on the ax mario walks to the back room (falling on a blooper in the process) and then the sky? (note there's no mushroom retainer) tells mario "thank you but our princess is in another castle" and then you get returned to the title screen as if you completed the game (note at 2:50 he start's changing the world counter like you can when you complete 8-4) |
