The Valkanian delegate looked at his watch. "Damn," he thought; "how long have i been here? And more importantly how long have they been arguing?" Seeing his Gileadian counterpart sigh he knew this was getting tiring. He raise his hand. "I know it is not within my jurisdiction as I am an observer but is there any possibility we could move on to more crucial subjects?" |

The President was grateful for the Valkanian observer's question. "Yes. Would anybody like to make any questions or comments about the treaty?" |

Thoroughly annoyed by the amateur level of diplomacy around him, McCormick raised his seventy-three year old hand and made the following comment, the first he had made in an observatory meeting in four decades, "I believe my Valkanian friend had asked to move to more pressing matters *takes a breath* such as: the Castratene Pact's encroachment on Victorium, a key player in world affairs, *takes another breath* the instability in the oil rich, Middle East, and the mad behavior of the foolish fascist dictators offering no care for diplomatic means to meet their ends."

"Although those are important, they aren't why we're here. We're here to create a Pact. The UN meeting is going to discuss those things there." |

"If you're not going to discuss ways to prevent such imperative matters from affecting the neutrality of this pact,*takes a breath* which, by the way, is a contradiction as the Starlizans have stated, I'm afraid I will take my leave.*takes another breath* I will let the powers that be know how useless of a congregation this truly is. Good day, everyone. *looks around once in pity* |

Minister Peiraias leaned forward. “It seems strange to me,” he said, “that we’re being asked ever so politely to make blanket declarations against certain nations and regions when we are specifically here to create an alliance dedicated to neutrality. It is even stranger to me that the nations asking us to do these things have already decided to enter the war themselves. Obviously their input has nothing to do with the cause of neutrality, and is aimed instead at strengthening their own ideological positions—the very opposite of our aims here today.” The minister glared at the representative from Gilead and said, “And no one yet has bothered to explain this strange assertion that this alliance is in any way contradictory to the aims put forward in the public announcement of this summit. If you are going to accuse us of being hypocrites, sir, you would do well to explain your reasoning. As far as I can tell, we are currently doing exactly what we set out to do when we arrived. If you have somehow misread your invitation, that is no one’s fault but your own. Perhaps you should leave it to the neutral nations themselves to determine how they would like to avoid your war, rather than attempting to dictate a political position you yourselves do not intend to take up.” |

Valtzar laughed at the notion. "Meaning no disrespect, Minister, but you speak of a very different kind of neutrality than is even possible. We are here because we don't want to be dragged into a war- at least not officially. You, however, say you are here because your nation lacks any kind of conviction. I doubt that. You are an ambassador, a man who should know the feelings of your nation, a man who should know and represent her interests. So, Minister Peiraias, look deep into your heart of hearts and tell me, how do you feel about fascism personally. Now, more importantly, how do the Peloponnese feel? "As to the Gileadian, while I agree with him that we must recognize an evil as an evil, he weakens the point through his unwillingness to engage in a dialogue and childishly running home like a taunted schoolboy. But such is the Gileadian way. Go then, old man, begone. I will be very clear about the Sarosian opinion of you and your nation. You are pitiful, isolated individuals, losing your grasp on a world which is no longer yours. Your role is played out. Go to where you and your people belong from now on, the dustbin of history!" |

Mr. McCormick turned slowly turned around, ignoring his personal guards. After gathering enough breath, he pointed to Sarosian, ignoring the Peloponnese, "Young man, everyone knows the opinion of my country and I have been sent here to listen, not speak out. Any wise man knows when it is time to pick up his stuff and leave the troglodytes to their devices. And if you believe the world was ever under Gileadan control, I fear for your generation of Sarosians, a sad brood indeed." After having exasperated his lungs, the old diplomat turned around, eyes wondering in though at the same time. As he left, he muttered to his guards, "Oh Gregory is going to love this one." They all laughed, their laughter faint from being so far away. |

Peiraias’s eyes snapped to the Sarosian. “You tell me that I lack conviction because I want my nation to survive?” he snapped. “You say you are here because you want to avoid the war; here I am, representing my people, for just that same reason! If I have no conviction, you have no more than I!” The minister leaned back. “Why should the Achaians care about the fascists? Why, for that matter, should the Achaians care about the communists? Or indeed, why should the Achaians care about any other ideology or people in Noverra? If they are peaceful, we will happily treat with them. If they are cloaked in chaos, we will dissuade them from turning our way. Therefore I come here, not to denounce any ideology or any nation, but to make damned sure that no nation comes to Achaian Peloponnese with a view to conquer! That, sir, is neutrality, and that is what I and these likeminded representatives are here to achieve.” The minister turned to President Freeland. “This meeting is getting out of hand. As I understand it, there are three nations represented here that are actually interested in signing an agreement today. Let us hear what Brasilia has to say so that we can move on without further distractions from the peanut gallery—or, at least, those few among the peanut gallery whose ‘convictions’ have led them to attempt to sabotage our continued survival." Elizabeth once more stood up, this time she left her seat, "The problem here is the ignorance of the diplomates that don't question the bill at hand. As I stated before, it is a direct contradiction to the prevention of war and chaos. If you wish to make a new alliance, don't try and name it something else, you end up looking like idiotic children in the end." The young woman then took her leave from the atrocity that was named a summit. |

The Valkanian delegate had had enough of this farce of a meeting. As an observer, if the other observers and even summit members were leaving to him it was a sign that there was no point to stay. After excusing himself and calling the Foreign Office to confirm he had permission to do so, he addressed the remaining members; "I am afraid I have to withdraw from this meeting, because as per His Imperial Majesty's request I have to attend to more pressing issues. I wish you the best of luck. Have a nice day." He then begun walking out of the room with his security staff and the other members of the delegation. Basileus Kifisia watched the observer delegates go. “And, yet again, not one of these objectors has explained why this pact will supposedly bring war to us, nor have they offered any viable alternative,” she said without bothering to lower her voice; at this point, if her minister was allowed to lose his temper, she could be forgiven for being snide after having lost her own long ago. “If they had had anything more productive to give us than complaints, perhaps we would have been more willing to listen.” “For those who have remained,” Minister Peiraias said, “let us reiterate our position: Achaian Peloponnese will gladly enter into an alliance of mutual defense with the aim of preventing any of its member nations—including, of course, Achaian Peloponnese—from being targeted by other nations currently at war, as those warring states will understand that attacking any nation within the alliance will bring the entire alliance down on the offending nation. That is the face of neutrality: We oppose none, we give aid to none, and we provide deterrents to all in order to maintain our own noninvolvement. What, I ask, is so hard to understand about this?” Edited by Mastropa, May 19 2014, 04:29 PM.

"Neutrality is hard to understand because it comes in different shades. Achaian Peleponnese is the most neutral you can get. Medai is close behind. We don't care much either way, though we are upset by the fascist's genocide and invasions. Gilead and Valkany consider themselves neutral because they hate both Fascism and Communism, which are the two parties involved in this war. They want us to take a stance, which we don't want to do." |

The observer turned back before leaving, replying to Kifisia's comment; "My lady, I am afraid being an observer my job is to observe not solve your problems. Valkany has no need to invest time or manpower in forging the pacts of others, without any benefit. We're an Empire, an Imperialist and self concerned system, not a humanitarian organization. Perhaps you could stop squabbling like little children and actually get down to grown-up business. But until then I have no obligation to watch. If you haven't noticed I have more important things to care about, like um i don't know; Maybe a WAR ON MY COUNTRY'S DOORSTEP?! I do not know if where you come from people are uncivilised and have no interest in good manners but where I come from backstabbing and cowardly insults are not welcomed. If you have any hope of advancing in this field you'll soon find out that common courtesy and kindness are diplomacy's two basic pillars. Once again have a nice day and good luck." He quickly walked out of the room, not in the mood to get in a heated argument with such an unprofessional person as the Achaian Peloponneseean delegate. After he walked out he turned to one of his advisers; "Maybe that's why we became an Empire spanning continents, that the sun never sets on, and they are some wannabe state in the middle of nowhere." The comment was followed by laughs. The Valkanian delegation boarded Valkany's diplomatic plane and flew back to St. Demetrium. |

(OOC: I think Brasilia is inactive. However, I just got a reply from Vinland that they're interested, so we might get a post soon from them.) "Okay, how did this argument even get started?!" asked the President, shocked. |
