![]() The Castratene Pact, an alliance dedicated to the enduring freedom and prosperity of the world! Our aim is to defeat the dangerous influence of communism, hegemonic and corrupt, imperialist governments. To our members, we promise security and everlasting peace. To our foes, we promise merciless attack and impenetrable defense. OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE To the nations of Dawinia, Melzae, Achaian Peloponnese, Seaeta, Vinland et Scandeneighvia and Rusnya! Chancellor Gustav Klink and the Austianese Government invite the highest possible representatives from each of your nations to attend a 3 day diplomatic conference in Castratene, Austiana. The purpose of the conference shall be to unilaterally found a strategic political, trade and military alliance, 'the Castratene Pact'. The conference shall take place at 'Thantem House', a luxurious mansion in the Austianese Alps. Chancellor Klink has permitted each representative to bring with them a single adviser and a detail of security personnel. The meeting shall take place on Friday, 9th April and shall end on Saturday, 10th April. All delegations are welcome to stay at Thantem House, however additional 5 star accommodation has been supplied in the nearby town of 'Glenn Inn'. It is highly recommended that everyone invited attends the conference, even if they do not make plans to join. Yours, The Government of Austiana |

Kerameikos snorted at the communication in his hand. “Well, this isn’t ominous or anything…” he said sarcastically, before setting it down. “Basileus Kypseli, we appear to be going through ambassadors at a very fast clip.” “Nonetheless, sir, there is no reason not to send an observer to this meeting,” the basileus answered. “Austiana obviously expects nations with no interest in joining the pact to send representatives anyway. They might try to persuade us to change our minds while we are there, but in the meantime they are providing any observers that attend with direct intelligence about their long-term plans that even my office would be hard-pressed to obtain.” “Their communication alone makes it obvious who the main players of this pact will be,” Kerameikos replied, tapping the paper again. “I don’t need to be fluent in Melzaean to know what it looks like, and Dawinian isn’t any less distinctive despite being more intelligible. I am not certain what criteria were used to determine who else might be willing to join, but listing other nations on the same line as Dawinia and Melzae isn’t likely to fool anyone. Any smaller nation that joins this pact will be taking orders from those three alone.” The anax shook his head. “I hope that the others see that.” Kypseli frowned. “Does it matter to us what the other nations think or do?” “When two of them are also in our sights for the neutral alliance with Medai, it matters quite a lot,” Kerameikos reminded the basileus. “Austiana is fighting for the same batch of international partners that we are. Which, as you say, makes it that much more important that we know who will arrive at this conference, and who expresses actual interest in joining.” The anax reached for stationery. “I won’t send anyone more important than an ambassador; not only can I not afford to send anyone seated higher in the government than that, but I am in no mood to suggest to anyone—Austianese or otherwise—that Achaian Peloponnese is actually interested in this project.” He paused. “I’ll send Lefkada,” he decided. “I trust her to be observant while the negotiations take place.” “Is it wise to leave the Office of Military Affairs out of this negotiation?” Kypseli asked. “This is obviously a military alliance, and an ambassador might not be able to recognize the military significance of any particular negotiation.” Kerameikos nodded toward the communiqué again. “They’re offering to let us bring an advisor and a security detail. Far be it from me to refuse such a generous offer.” He glanced up at the basileus. “Be sure to tell the Office of Military Affairs to brush off their old security uniforms.” Kypseli nodded. “I’ll do that now, then.” “Go ahead,” said the anax. “And then tell your own office boys to send an encrypted message to Minister Peiraias about the very interesting mail we received.” The basileus nodded again. “Yes, sir.”

"You should take a look at this, Mr. President," said Secretary of Foreign Affairs Irwin Oesterle, handing President Amsel the letter from the Austianese. Amsel read the letter over, and tossed it down on his desk. "Absolutely not, I'm not going to help out a fascist in his conquest for the subjugation of others." "I agree, sir. However, do you think we should send a representative at least? Just to observe the meeting?" Amsel pondered the idea, then said, "No, we can't do that, Irwin. We're allied with Gilead and Valkany now, and our attendance likely wouldn't go over well with them at all. Plus, we'd just be wasting our time if we have no interest in joining this pact anyway. Draft up a response to send to this Klink, make a firm statement how we will under no circumstances support them." "Right away, sir," said Oesterle, leaving the room.

Aurora took one glance at the diplomatic telegram, its address, and its stated intentions, and she tossed it away like a dirty rag. After the failures of the negotiations before, she had no reason to touch such slimy fascists. | |||||

With the Prime Minister dead, Grand Duke Henri took over the duties of the office. He saw the telegram presented to him inside of a sealed envelope. He read over the invitation and sat back in his desk chair. "This is what we need. I'm tired of waiting around for Gilead and the others to come to our rescue." The Grand Duke thought in his head. "It's time to do something now and without delay. This is the right thing to do for my people." The Grand Duke prepared a response "Chancellor Kirk I accept your vital invitation. Due to the tragic lose of my Prime Minister, I will be attending the meeting. This is a great opportunity for us and we would be absolute fools to decline. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to fly and my representatives have been dismissed. I would hate to create a situation between my representatives so I will attend through a secure video chat. I pray this won't be a problem. Grand Duke Henri |
