Zinovios Mesolongias, Epistatis

Anax Kerameikos turned away from the large window behind his desk as Basileus Kypseli knocked on the door and walked in. “News?” he asked.

The basileus, whose Office of Observation and Communication was Achaian Peloponnese’s best source of international intelligence, shrugged. “To an extent,” he temporized. “It’s about Vinland et Scandineighvia.”

The anax took his seat and waved Kypseli to the chair across from his desk. “Hopefully it’s nothing troubling.”

“Nothing like that,” Kypseli assured Kerameikos. “It’s just not news, exactly. We’ve known for a while that Vinland has not been particularly interested in international negotiations for some time now.” The anax nodded. “However, we’ve received some information suggesting that they might be more amenable to talks from ourselves.”

“Ourselves specifically, or from other nations in general?” asked Kerameikos.

The basileus frowned. “It was likely not meant to specifically encourage Achaian Peloponnese,” he admitted. “Nonetheless, we can take advantage of it.”

Kerameikos nodded. “Another ally in the west will assure us of friends outside of the grip of the current troubles, depending on how dangerous matters become here in the eastern world. We know that Vinland has been courted by other nations. If they are willing to listen, we are willing to talk.”

Basileus Kypseli smiled. “As far as we can tell, they’re willing to listen,” he said.

To the Government of Vinland et Scandineighvia:
Achaian Peloponnese sends Greetings!

In this time of turmoil and doubt, our government seeks likeminded friends throughout the world, in the hopes of maintaining the semblance of peace and order. I believe that the government of Vinland et Scandineighvia sees things similarly. If you are willing, the government of Achaian Peloponnese invites a representative of Vinland et Scandineighvia to meet with Interior Minister Pagkrati in Kerkyra, in the hopes of developing political ties and personal friendships between your nation and ours.

We look forward to meeting with you soon.

Signed,
Kerameikos

Achaian Peloponnese
