The Secretary General noticed the Peloponnese texting pulling out his phone to text; he laughed a little. There was no cellular service in the building, but there was wifi, so if the man was using a web-enabled app, he had that communication mode to lean on. After the allotted voting time had gone pass, he rose from his seat again, annoyed by everyone who took it upon themselves to give speeches, including Prince Gregory. "With a vote of 3 in favor of postponement, 2 in favor of acceptance, and the rest abstained, the Kingdom of Izalith is hereby on the waiting list for membership and will be reviewed for another chance at acceptance if they so desire. Now, we may continue with official business. All other nations which requested full membership have been granted so with a unanimous approval for each nation. Our new member-states are: The Kingdom of Austiana, The Federation of Rusnya, and The Empire of Valkany." With that, the Secretary General looked down at a sheet which read "AGENDA". After analyzing it, he returned his attention to the assembly and began speaking, "We shall now move to the topic of Melzae." He felt the room shift a little as representative's heads raised. "As per the advice of various governments, including some Security Council member-states, there is now a motion to suspend the membership of Melzae, or Melhua as it is called now, indefinitely, until a time when the country is once again stable and returns to a peace-loving method of governance. The voting system is now updated and you may vote yay or nay. Please be swift about it, time is running by quicker than expected given the rather unnecessary distractions we have been do unfortunate to witness." |

The Minister promptly voted Nay. Although at one point they were experiencing civil turmoil, the fascist government had been overthrown, replaced by a communist government, and then nothing had really happened. She speculated that Melzae was going through a time of relative peace.

Oesterle shook his head in disgust at the notion of even having to vote to throw Melzae out of the Security Council, even if only temporarily. Not only had the previous regime systematically murdered millions of innocent people, but Oesterle despised the thought of a communist nation in a position of importance. Using the voting device given to him, he voted "Yea".

Having seen the pictures of the genocides in Melzae from the Secret Intelligence Service debrief before the meeting the Valkanian delegates were in great support of such a move. Shoudl elzae stay in this organization it would only hinder international efforts at stopping its genocide. Thus the Valkanian delegates voted "Aye".

Bernhard hesitated. The communist regime present in Melzae was responsible for the overthrow of the Pro-Austianese fascist regime, and since the controversial coup relations between Austiana and Melzae had deteriorated. "Wouldn't it be hypocritical, Your Majesty..." An Austianese adviser asked, "If we were to deny Melzae access, after substantial advocacy for universal access to the UN? I urge you to vote Nay." Bernhard continued to contemplate his decision. It is not in the interest of Austiana to be at odds with the rest of the international community, and to continue to make such a public scene. Yet, Bernhard could not allow himself to kick Melzae out, even temporarily. The actions of the Melzaean Government could be condemned, sure, and resolutions could be passed by the UN to rectify the issues within Melzae, but isolating them could not possible help. "We shall vote Nay." Bernhard answered, noticing the absence of the Melzaean delegation at the summit. Bernhard then on his screen voted Nay. |

Antonio takes a moment to ponder his options. On one hand, he knows that the Melzaeans commuted multiple atrocities to his own people and the world, but on the other, the UoN should be inclusive of all nations, big and small; 'bad' and 'good'. He looks to Alba, who just nods her head in agreence to the vote, to eject the nation out of the Security Council. 'But if they go, who will take their place...the balance of power in the SC will tip to one side...more possibile instability after?' Antonio takes a quick glance around the room and notices that most of the people have already voted, making him think that there was not a lot of care out into their decisions. And at that point, he hastily makes a decision, shaking his head. Alba looks at him with disapproval, as she touches "no" on the screen, and sighs, sitting back in her chair after locking in the vote. |

Emmanuel voted "no". Now that Melzae was communist, he knew that it would be completely in his favor to vote for them (especially since Comrade Spiros was in charge of the whole thing). He was also a bit perturbed that the Gileadan king would attempt to use the fascist's atrocities to argue against the new government. He rose, "Your Majesty, if I may," he said, "but, the genocidal, fascist government has been overthrown, yes? So, why on Earth should their atrocities be of any consideration when discussing the current, more stable government?" |

Minister Hendricks took note of what Emmanuel was saying as she pulled out her phone and began downloading War and Peace onto it. At the rate this meeting was going, she figured she could finish reading it by the end.

Upon hearing the Vasconian delegate’s leading question, Delos straightened in his chair and looked around the room, trying to determine whether or not the other Union members approved of the idea. By claiming that Melzae should not be punished now that its new government had repudiated the policies of its predecessor, New Vasconia’s government in exile had put forward a question that affected far more nations than Melzae. If the Union of Nations were to agree that the new government in Melzae could not be punished for the failings of its predecessor, they would be required for consistency’s sake to make the same judgment about any nation whose government had changed hands in dramatic fashion—nations such as Dawinia and Austiana, whose former governments had brought Noverra to war, but whose new governments were likely to claim that they bore no blame for their predecessors’ guilty actions. As this meeting of the Union of Nations centered around these two nations, Delos was certain that every delegate would weigh Emmanuel Kokinos’s question by far different standards than the Vasconian himself had likely intended, and the Union’s overall response would determine just what position the Dawinian and Austianese monarchs faced when it came their turn to defend their nations’ actions to the rest of the world.

As Antonio continued to wait for some progress from anyone, despite the Vasconian's posed question to the Gileadan prince, Alba continued to look around the room, stopping as she noticed her Medaian counterpart, Foreign Minister Elizabeth Hendricks. Something seemed to change with Alba in that moment, and as a result, she made it know. "How dare you, Elizabeth," she exclaimed, starting, purposely using the minister's first name, "We all sit here at attention, trying to cooperate and you, you, have the nerve to divert your attention to your device‽" Her point was not really solid, as most diplomats attending were, in fact, using their phone, including her, but at least not when someone is addressing the room. "Absolutament menyspreable, vostè i el seu govern.....but what is to be expected from Medai, if I receive it from their highest power, their President?" Antonio began to try and stop her, knowing where she was going with this, but decided not to; he left her to her own discretion. "Yes," now talking to the whole room, "the Medaian President and his government is one, I think, should not be trusted. I go, based on the belief and assurance that Medai will negotiate with Dawinia, for an assured peace, and all I get is this man who ends up yelling at me, throwing everything we offered in my face." She thinks for a second, calming down a little and rewording what she was going to originally say. "Every offer, every single one, was rejected. Economic stimulation and support? Rejected. Military supplement, training and research, rejected. I was under the impression that peace was of a top priority, but I see that they favour conflict. I was belittled; I was yelled at without cause; I was truly insulted, and was fearful for my safety. I'm not saying this because the meeting failed, no, I am sharing this because I want the world to know of the true man behind close doors. Interesting how he was able to 'forgive' Carlos el Loco, but did not want to have anything to do with Emperor Antonio." At that, she stops, making her point, and breaths a sigh of relief. Antonio looks to Alba without saying anything and places his hand on her back, to comfort her, as he successfully held back his smile; he was pleased with Alba. |

Ambassador Delos stared at the Dawinian minister, before deciding that protocol was no longer useful to him. “Minister Suero, are you saying that you met directly with President Freeland?” he asked. “Did he explain his reasoning for these rejections to you? President Freeland has assured my anax that he seeks peace and neutrality for Medai, and for Medai’s allies.” Delos turned to the Median minister. “Minister Hendricks, please tell me: What do you know about this?”

The Valkanian delegates spoke in defence of the Medaians, though it was more to avoid a new pointless fight. "Madam you were using your own cellular phone merely seconds ago. To shout at others for doing the same, when both you and the entire room were doing so, is more than just hypocritical." he took a sip of water and continued; "Also judging from how you still haven't freed Chanarya and Rendaria one couldn't help but assume your offers were offers designed to bind Medai into your sphere of influence forever or even outright conquer them! Am I right, Your Excellencies of the Medaian Delegation? Plus it is well within a Sovereign State's rights to reject claims whcih it finds not to be beneficial to its citizens and nobody, you and me included, has any right to hold it against them. Though from what I've seen not long ago your nation wanted to take that independence away from Medai. Let's hope His Imperial Majesty does not follow the methods and goals of his predecessor as His Imperial Majesty clearly promised us upon His Imperial Majesty's Ascension to the Throne of Hamunpatra." "Now on to the matter of Melzae, I vote for their suspension. The new government isn't any more stable or trustworthy than their predessecor and until they prove otherwise they have no place on an istitution as important as the Union of Nations Security Council." |
