Ambassador Delos snapped his telephone shut and pocketed it. He was certainly glad that he had taken the time for a last-minute check-in with the Megaron, considering the changed international situation. If he was not much mistaken, the men talking at the door were Legantian and Median, while the strangely-dressed new arrivals could only be the delegation from the UCSS, based on the description he had received from the Megaron. This was, he thought, encouraging news all around. The Neutrality Pact was totally represented here, even if only one member of the pact was technically a member of the Union of Nations; hopefully the gathering would take notice that the voice Medai would carry the weight of its allies as well.

‘Assuming, of course, that Medai says things that will be beneficial to all of us,’ Delos thought to himself. He would have to try to speak to the Median representative prior to the meeting in order to clarify the pact’s unified stance in the diplomatic wrangling ahead.

That was no less true when concerning the Izalithian delegation, whose interests Delos had been ordered by the Megaron to defend as much as possible while still defending those of the Achaians. With the UCSS present as well, the ambassador was certain that its representatives could take care of their own interests well enough, but it would be extremely useful to ensure that the two nations were as unified as possible in the face of yet another bevy of semi-hostile foreign diplomats. From what the Office of International Political Outreach had told him over the phone, Basileus Exarcheia had handled the negotiations between Achaian Peloponnese and Izalith personally; it would be extremely poor form for an ambassador like Delos to ruin the efforts of an important and well-respected basileus.

The ambassador noticed that the leader of the delegation was looking at his vehicle curiously, likely trying to determine what nation its passenger represented. Delos found himself inspecting the girl, as well, trying to determine why the UCSS had chosen such a young representative to enter this international mess. As he walked over, however, he quickly realized his mistake as he recognized the positions that her guards had taken around her. Obviously this wasn’t a mere diplomat at all.

“Your Majesty?” began Delos, stopping well outside of arm’s reach so as to attract the queen without gaining the ire of her guards. “I am Ambassador Delos, representing Anax Kerameikos of Achaian Peloponnese. Am I right in assuming that you are Queen Charlotte Lordran of the UCSS?”

The queen smiled and nodded as she looked up at the man speaking to her "Your assumption would be correct Ambassador Delos. It takes a great weight off my mind to know that the Achaians have appeared to represent their own and what I can only imagine to be our combined interests in this meeting. It surely must be a great honor for you to represent your Anax and people to the rest of the world at the same time."
The queen's face turned into a beautiful smile as she warmly added "You're the first Achaians and the first people not of my country I've ever met. I surely couldn't be more pleased with this outcome. The High General speaks highly of your people and nation, I've long respected her judgement. That's quite a compliment coming from her." the Queen raised a hand delicately in front of her hand to stifle a soft giggle.

The queen gestured toward the building "Would you care to join us? I imagine we have some things of interest we could discuss without too much worry."

“I would be delighted,” Ambassador Delos replied. “I look forward to our talks.” He looked toward the men talking at the doors of the Paceum Complex. “I especially look forward to hearing what those two have to say. The Megaron has heard interesting things about Legantus that I would like to confirm for myself. As we have been led to believe, this nation is republican to a fault, and has no desire to associate with nations that are anything less than representative of their populations. And yet,” the ambassador wondered, “they maintain a strong friendship with Gilead, a monarch in every trapping. Perhaps it is the nature of Gregorius’s ascension; I understand that he came to power due to popular support. Nonetheless, it is an intriguing question that I would very much like to answer, especially as my anax has entertained thoughts of reaching out to Legantus in the past. We would like to know if we were wrong to give up on those hopes early.”

Delos turned his attention to the second man. “And I would also like to discuss matters with the representative from Medai before this gathering really begins.” Delos sighed. “The Megaron has told me of the rising tensions in the West, and Medai’s part in them. I had come here originally with the notion that the war was all but over, but this friction between Medai and Dawinia only reminds me of just how fragile this chance of peace really is. And of the three of us, Medai is the only member of the Union of Nations. Technically, only President Freeland’s representative has a voice here.”

The ambassador frowned. “I would like to make sure that President Freeland’s words will accord with the anax’s, at least today. Medai has garnered the focus of the world…” Delos glanced back at Queen Charlotte. “…I think also that Freeland has garnered some frustration from his allies,” he said more cautiously; Basileus Exarcheia’s report notwithstanding, Delos knew that the basileus had spoken with High General Telvan, not the monarch herself. “Nonetheless, we are allies still, and I would like to make sure that our alliance remains as intact as possible while international attention rests its weight upon it. We cannot afford for outsiders to fracture us here, as they desired to do in Medapolis.”

“Your plane leaves tomorrow” said Rolando, “have your bags packed.”
“Where am I going?” asked Danilo
“That is unimportant” said Rolando, as the video conference screen went dark.
‘Oh great, another mission as a delegate, and as usual, I have no idea where I’m going’ thought Danilo, as he packed his bags, ‘I guess it’s better than some of the other jobs I could have right now.’

The Ionian Delegation, this time made up of the Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and high ranking diplomats, arrived in Legantus.

The Ionian Delegation entered the conference room waiting for the other delegates.

After a long deal of waiting in the private plane that brought him to the legantus airport, Danilo, the USSP Delegate and Leader of Congress, started to become worried.
‘Where is my welcoming committee?’ he thought, ‘do they not know I am here?’ Suddenly there was a beeping from his phone, a new text alert.

Text Conversation
Rolando Kleon: Dictator

Rolando: Dearest Danilo, unfortunately your welcoming committee has been cancelled, as we are currently working on the issue of our citizens believing we are trying to be more democratic. This is believed to be due to recent changes in legislature, and will be investigated on you return. Until then, we need the money for our investigation and we cannot afford a welcoming committee for you.
Danilo: Then how am I supposed to get to the conference? I don’t have a car or anything.
Rolando: You have two legs, you can walk. Goodbye

‘So now I’m stuck walking all the way to the conference’ thought Danilo, ‘at least the weather is nice.’

Secretary of Foregin Affairs Irwin Oesterle was given the assignment of representing the Rusnyan Federation at the first UN meeting, along with two young aides of his named Viktor Simorov and Peter Elbaum. The plane carrying them along with their security detail landed at the airport in Legantium. Understandably tired after such a long flight, the weary Rusnyan delegation exited their plane and headed towards a black SUV marked with the Rusnyan flag. They entered the SUV, where it left the airport, destined for the Paceum Complex.

During the drive, Oesterle and his two aides read several reports compiled about the world leaders who would be present at the meeting, along with the issues the Legantians had planned to discuss. Oesterle was confident in his handle on foreign affairs, but he would need to be at the top of his game in front of so many heads of state.

Eventually, the SUV arrived at the complex and Oesterle and the rest of the Rusnyan delegation exited the vehicle and entered the building. Oesterle saw several delegates were already there, including two who were conversing who he deduced to be from Achaian Peloponnese and Izalith. Oesterle turned away, then had to do a double take at the sight of what he thought was a child, no older than 14 at the meeting. He then realized that this was the Izalithian Queen, Charlotte. Not wanting to be rude by continuing to stare confusedly, the secretary and his aides made their way to the conference room, and took their seat in the section marked for Rusnya.

King Alexander I was not keen on sending a delegate to a meeting of this scale so, he would attend to represent his own nation. Waving goodbye to his citizens, the young king boarded the private jet and headed to Legantus.

The jet landed in the foreign land and a blonde haired man stepped off the jet. A car awaited him and Alexander wasted no time getting into it, this meeting was important and he had no desire to be late. Reaching the building, he stepped out from the back seat and entered the building waiting for the other delegates or leaders to arrive.

As more ambassadors pulled up, the Minister broke away from her conversation and walked towards the Achaian ambassador, whom appeared to wish to speak with her.

‘This is extremely convenient,’ Ambassador Delos thought to himself as he saw the Median approach. “It appears we will have that opportunity to discuss our alliance after all,” he said aloud to Queen Charlotte. Turning toward the approaching diplomat, the ambassador smiled and extended his hand. “It is good to see another friendly face joining us here in Legantus,” he said. “And it is especially good to see that the Neutrality Pact is represented here in its entirety. I think I speak for all of us when I say that Achaian Peloponnese would like for the pact to present a united front in international politics, especially when we are present together at a meeting of the entire Union of Nations and observers from all over Noverra. I would like to ensure that we all speak with the same voice here, especially considering how this first meeting of the Union will set the tone for all meetings to come—and most especially because this meeting takes place at such an important time in the history of the world.” Delos leaned forward. “This meeting will determine just how long the unfortunate mess in Victorium will continue. If we are fortunate, the international community will be able to end the war here through diplomacy; however, one wrong word will add fuel to the conflict’s fire. My anax, for one, would like to avoid that scenario. The Neutrality Pact is somewhat unique, in that it stands outside of the factional deadlock that has characterized the politics of the rest of the world. I believe we must continue to remain outside of that dichotomy for as long as possible.”

The ambassador glanced toward the various delegates arriving at the Paceum Complex. “Regardless of whether or not the Neutrality Pact speaks up today, I think we should make it clear that our united purpose remains unchanged: We will defend ourselves and our allies against unprovoked aggression, and will not otherwise involve ourselves in the fighting. Hopefully by avoiding confrontations today, we can contribute to a diplomatic solution for peace in Victorium, if only by our example.”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elizabeth Hendricks, smiled back and shook his hand. She then listened as he spoke. "Yeah, the political situation concerning Victorium is a mess..." she trailed off as her own thoughts about the situation gained control. However, she stopped thinking after a second and continued. "Hopefully we'll be able to contribute something and, if nothing else, at least avoid making the mess worse."

“Wait for me” Danilo pants, as he trudges into the conference all, “don’t... start... without me.” Grabbing the table for support and then the nearest chair, Danilo sits down and catches his breath.

“So, did I miss anything important?” he asks, “Sorry I was late, there was a mix up and I had to walk.” Upon looking around, Danilo realizes that the meeting has not even begun. Relieved at this note, he decides to speak with the other delegates who have arrived.

Charlotte waited patiently to be acknowledged by the other member of the neutrality pact, to no avail. She didn't expect the Achaian representative to have to introduce her, so she was left waiting for the blunder in political etiquette to be rectified. Her patience lasted roughly 5 minutes.

Charlotte gave a slight bow to Delos and smiled "I'll wait for you if you wish, I imagine we'll be seated together."
She then turned and curtsied to the Median representative.
"It seems we're not the most politically backward nation after all..." she muttered under her breath as she began to walk off to wait near the door.
As the Izalithians passed one of the guards did little to hide the fact he was glaring at the Median, mask or no. It would appear this dismissive behavior from Medai was found to be insulting.

As Queen Lordran II waited out of earshot closer to the door, the secretary of the Office of External Affairs leaned in "What reason do they have to sour relations with us so quickly?"
Charlotte merely waved her hand and let our a short sigh "Frankly I don't care, the idea of Izalithian blood spilling for such an insulting and ignorant herd of monkeys is repulsive. We already learned that it was most likely them that agitated hostilities in the first place. Now they've simply given us reason to sever the one sided relationship they tricked us into." the Queen was evidently simmering, betrayed by her sharp tone.
The captain of the royal guard nodded at his sovereign "My Queen, if I may..."

The Queen surprised him by placing her small porcelain hands over one of his large gloves. "We'll put more effort, time and resources into our relationship with our eastern neighbors to quell any distrust. This will also give us an opportunity to approach other nations without the restrictions of being seen as a tool of a nation such as Medai. I think the small neutrality pact has outlived it's usefulness to us and the Achaians, although they may be reluctant to admit it now."
The captain nodded "Of course my Queen, I apologize for assuming you hadn't taken it into consideration..."
Charlotte patted his hand and returned it to him, giving a bright smile "Respect is earned captain, I wouldn't accept you any other way."

The Izalithian procession prepared to enter, but waited to see if the Achaians would enter with them or maybe if another procession wished to speak with them.

Prince Gregory landed after his long flight which flew directly from HeavenGate. He was eight hours early, allowing him to get some rest before the meeting. His father, King Gregorius, sent him, the Crown Prince, to represent Gilead in the Union of Nations for the first official meeting of its participants.

Approximately seven hours were allotted to the Prince for rest, and they seemed to be all but adequate rest. Nevertheless, he prepared himself and took his car, escorted by the Elitist Guards, to the Paceum complex in Legantium.

Upon entering the complex, Gregorius noticed the Peloponnese, Izalithians, and Medaians conversing and began to join them. As he became able to hear the conversation, the Queen of Izalith said some scornful words and walked away. While he had an urge to go calm the child down, the Prince addressed the Medaian Minister, "Do you seriously make the blunder of not addressing a Queen?" He also shook the Peloponnese's hand and smiled, then returned to the Minister with a facial expression which said, "Are you inebriated, simply incompetent, or both?"

Ambassador Delos nodded as the Izalithian delegation swept off, before turning back to Minister Hendricks and opening his mouth. He was, perhaps fortunately, preempted by the arrival of the Gileadan delegation, however, and instinctively smiled and shook the hand of a man he could only assume to be one of the royal princes while forcing himself not to grimace at the rebuke that he gave to the Median representative. Glancing at Minister Hendricks once more, the ambassador finally said, “For the sake of our alliance, Minister, let us anger no one else today. Please.” He turned once again to the Gileadan prince and said, “Your Highness, it is a pleasure to meet you today. Gilead’s presence at this meeting will no doubt ensure that it produces desirable results. If you have any desire to speak with a representative of Achaian Peloponnese, I intend to be available for any discussion before and after this meeting. However, at the moment, duty calls for me elsewhere. Your Highness; Minister.” Delos nodded to both the Gileadan prince and the Median minister, and spared a smile—admittedly a weak one—for the prince’s guards as well, before turning back toward the Paceum Complex.

Queen Charlotte, thankfully, was still waiting at the doors with her own bodyguards. The ambassador stopped beside her and nodded grimly. “Your Majesty,” he said, “if you desire it, I will bear the news to Kerkyra that the Neutrality Pact is broken. I cannot say how Anax Kerameikos will react when considering his relationship with Medai, but I can only guess that he will attempt to maintain his diplomatic friendship with President Freeland.” Delos bowed his head toward the queen of Izalith. “However, I can tell you with certainty that the anax will put forward every effort to maintain his newly-built friendship with yourself, Your Majesty.”
