Gregorius and the War Council( The King, Crown Prince, Minister of HMAF, Deputy Minister of HMAF, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Speaker of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Speaker of the Representative Assembly) were all discussing the issues at hand in Victorium and the ripples across the globe.

Palace of Majesty

"The Chiefs are in incredible agony, awaiting your orders to act against the Empires of Dawinia and Austiana," and the Speaker of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Rigel Sosa, said to the Council.

"And so are the people," the Speaker of the Representative Assembly, Brie Smith, added, "They have seen the news stories on the brutality and the further encroachment towards areas outside of their present borders. And, while we are not a Catholic people by majority, most of the populace respects what the Pope has to say, so, since he has spoken against Charles, stripping him from the Church's favor and recognition, we have an overwhelming amount of support for war with the two belligerents."

As if they had the same mind, the Crown Prince and King began speaking at the same time, with almost the same words, with the Prince yielding, then the King allowing him to speak.

"That is all besides the point. If His Majesty wanted the Joint Chiefs to act, they would do so whether they approved or not. If he wanted the People's approval, he would have remained a President, addicted to petty politics, graveling for popularity and votes. The reason that His Majesty's Armed Forces have not confronted the belligerents is simple. It is not the right time. Their are too many uncertain factors which could change the winds of war at any moment, and we must quell these threats to an assured victory before attempt to put down two wild lions with nasty teeth and bottomless pits for stomachs."

Not allowing objection, Gregory spoke, "Indeed. Now, what is this I hear of Medai issuing an ultimatum to Charles? Are we sure it is true?"

Minister Banks pulled out an official report from the Intelligence Ministry and handed it to the King who then projected it onto a nearby wall for the others to see. "Why, it appears that Freeland believes he will have the support of others in his endeavors. It's amusing to some extent. I'll take care of it, though.*pauses in thought* Addison, has the "Emperor" replied?"

The room went silent.

Crown Prince Gregory turned in his seat with a worrisome look on his face. "So," he began to ask the King, "You haven't seen it yet?"

"Seen what?" came the response.

Speaker Smith had already pulled up the video on her tablet device and handed it to the King immediately after hearing his response to the Prince's question.

After watching the video, King Gregorius closed his eyes, sat back into his seat and exhaled in exasperation. He then abruptly rose from his seat and left the chamber for his study, saying to the Council, "Excuse me, I must send Freeland my regards."

The President's plane touched down in Gilead at ten hundred hours. Given the circumstances as to why he was here, he was in a rather cheerful mood. He pushed his way through crowds of people and got into the car that took him to the royal palace.

As Freeland's car began meandering the palatial driveway, the Palatial Chief of Staffs(PCS) made his way to the doors through which the President would enter.

Gregorius was inside, watching news reports on the genocide in Melzae, in awe of house cultural differences could rip apart centuries of relative harmony. *Knock Knock* "Yes?" he calmly droned. "His Excellency, the President of Medai has arrived," a female voice said. "Thank you," he responded.

Upon some steps, the King and his PCS were standing, the PCS was on a lower step than the King, waiting for the President to exit his vehicle and come up to meet them halfway.

The President got out of the car. He walked up to the two men. He shook the hand of the man next to the King first. first. "Hello, I'm President Freeland."

He then turned towards Gregourius, whom he recognized from their first meeting several months back. "It's been a long time, hasn't it?"

The PCS, Jacob McKinney, looked at the President with angst, as he had not bowed in respect. Annoyed, he dragged himself up the steps.

Even more annoyed was Gregorius. He wasn't one for strong traditionalism, but bowing to a king was just good manors, especially if you're in good terms with him. He eyed Freeland as he shook his hand, then he turned around and began walking indoors to, up to his study, not uttering a word to anyone.

When they arrived at his study, he walked in, followed by Freeland, then the door closed with some Elitist Guards posted on either side of the door and the PCS making his way down to the kitchen to taste some of the delicious food he had smelled.

The navy blue curtains the Queen had placed on the windows of the study kept the room a bit dim, and constant air conditioning kept it a little below room temperature. A nearby clock ticked away and a globe was spinning on the King's desk. Gregorius placed his index finger on the Reval Ocean, effectively halting the globe's rotation.

"This is all that stands between the brute and blunt force of one of the world's only blue-water navies. You have no allies who are all-in, and you have no real means with which to stand firm against your opponent, even if the Neutral Allies were to assist. Given all of this, which I believe, what are your plans, Mr. President?"

The President could tell that Gregourius was annoyed, and he could guess why. Although he wanted to make a little "speech" about it, he decided it was in his best interests to let the issue die. He followed the King into the room and sat down.

He leaned back in his chair and signed, frustrated by the situation he was talking about. He thought for a moment, than said, "Well, we have our armed forces fully ready, waiting to be deployed on a moment's notice. They are determined to keep Dawinia off the continent, even if it means invading Aurvernia, Castagnia or Brasilia. Our navy is fully deployed, monitoring the Islas Diviono and the seas around them. We'll be aware of any buildups or troops movements in or through the area.

"In addition, Recent Legislation has set the price of arms at the cost of making the arm plus an amount of money. This means that the more arms they make, the more money they'll make. Also, there's a program that loans money to factories so they can switch to arms production. Even though this program will be insanely expensive, it'll produce arms at ridiculously fast rate. And personnel won't be a problem either, as Median's are fiercely patriotic, so they'll volunteer in swarms.

"Then, we have our allies. Both Achaian Peloponnese and the UCSS have contacted us. Achaian has agreed to ravage supply lines. I'm pretty sure that Dawinia will get over-confident and leave them unprotected. We're still working things out with the UCSS. We also have ambassadors in Rusnya and Saros. Saros seems eager to have a fight with the fascists, and Rusnya is a good friend of ours. We doubt they'll just sit there while we risk getting overrun.

"And then there's you. Although you have expressed reluctance to get involved this early, if you just stand there, Dawinia will defeat us rather quickly. You're waiting will give them a foothold just south of you, and you don't want that. It'll make defeating Dawinia take longer, and will give them an area they can use to quickly stab at you." This was a risky line of argument, as he was telling Gregourius that the person he was considering to defend couldn't defend himself. However, doing so would remind him why he was considering to defend Medai in the first place, and would show that the President was aware of his limits.

Leaning back into his chair, Gregorius sighed. He leaned forward again and slightly turned the globe towards himself. With moderate effort, the Western Hemisphere separated from its Eastern brother. "This," Gregorius said, holding the West in his right palm, "This, is an area which has seen peace for a century. Even in the Great War, the Gileadan Federation kept the fighting out of here, the West. If the Dawinians activate any armaments in the West as retaliation to your hostilities, I shall hold you personally responsible and Medai will have more to worry about than a few hits from Dawinia's overstretched Navy. I cannot align myself or this Kingdom with the likes of those who will provoke war. Now, let's say Dawinia raises its guns at you without just cause, that is a different story. I'm also aware of the threats sent to you by the ignorant new Emperor, but that is not an attack with which we can raise nations against him, so you must back down from this apparent ramp up of jingoism in Medai, it will bring you no justice in this matter, only woes."

Before he could even hear Freeland's tempered response, as he assumed it would be tempered, Gregorius added, "Not only do I not want to see Dawinia activating its forces, but if you dare disrupt the stability of any nation in the Gileads, including those which you have mentioned...you can assume the consequences. Now, I will have no objection to what I have said. You are free to leave voluntarily, or Gerry and Matt over there *he gestures towards the guards at the door* would be more than happy to lend you a hand."

Gregorius, aging, yet in good health, stood and monitored the President's temper and movements, waiting for the chance to dodge a punch or a projectile.

President Freeland, although stubborn, knew when there wasn't anything he could do. He stood up and left.
