Presidential Manor
Kaliningrad, Rusnya

Christian Becker knocked on the main presidential conference room at the Presidential Manor before entering. Inside, President Amsel sat with his staff. It was the first official meeting Amsel had held since his discharge from the hospital, and ironically was of the utmost importance. Amsel was aware of the cooperative mission with the Legantians to send Becker to report back on the meeting of the so-called "Brothers", Valkany, Gilead, Legantus, and Verskana. However, he was unaware of the exact details of what the meeting entailed; that was about to change.

"Ah, Christian, come in," said Amsel, as Becker took a seat at the conference table. "Now, I assume you have some sensitive information to share with us, yes?"

"Most certainly, Mr. President," said Becker, pulling out a thumbdrive that contained digitized copies of the notes he and Silvanus took at the Brothers in Arms meeting. He plugged the thumb drive in to the console, where it was projected onto the large screen in the conference room. Amsel and his staff read the notes taken by Becker.

"Imperialism....Valkanian insistence of continued Victorium imperialism....false flag operations....it got messy fast, lots of bickering between the four from what I saw," said Becker, displaying his notes.

Amsel sat, staring and the screen, his lips pursed and shaking his head in disappointment. "So, the Gileadeans and the Valkanians see us as a simple pawn...they expect us to simply bow down to them because of their 'superpower' status..."

Silence absorbed the room for a few moments, before Amsel let out a heavy sigh, "There was a time when I truly believed that an alliance with the Valkanians and the Gileadeans would help bolster our world position...sadly I was wrong."

Chief Advisor Leonov spoke up, "We shouldn't expect anything different from imperialists, Heinrich. They only seek to further their own agenda. It almost seems like a desperate attempt to save their fading influence. It's clear that imperialism has hurt the world for far too long."

"Agreed, Mr. President," said Becker. "In my honest opinion, further aligning ourselves with imperialists will simply maintain the status quo rather than increase the influence of democracy in the world. At this stage, breaking away from Gilead and Valkany would be the most beneficial for us in the long run."

Amsel looked off to the side, pondering the idea. Valkany and Gilead were the first nations to step in and protect Rusnya from the possibility of the Victorium war, but Becker and Leonov were right. The two nations were only out to further their own interests, and the spread of democracy would likely be at the bottom of their agenda. Finally, Amsel spoke, "We'll initiate the split. It's time we align ourselves with like-minded nations. Andrei," said Amsel, speaking to the Deputy Secretary of Foreign Affairs, "have the Foreign Affairs Department draft up a letter to the Valkanians. We'll deal with the Gileadeans later."

The President rose from his seat, "Christian, follow me." The two men exited the room together.

"We're getting in touch with the Legantians, I want to arrange for a meeting between myself and President Silvanus."

"Yes, Mr. President," responded Becker.

"I also want you to accompany me there," said Amsel, smiling. "You performed a great service for your country, and I'm sure Silvanus agrees, given the sheet of paper he sent back with you." Amsel put his hand on Becker's shoulder, "Now, let's get to work, Mr. Ambassador."

To Emperor Demetrius
The Empire of Valkany

Emperor Demetrius,

Long and hard deliberation has been taken by the government of the Federation of Rusnya, and we regret to inform you that we will be cancelling the Valkanian-Rusnyan Mutual Defense Pact, effective immediately.

We wish not to align ourselves with a nation who has imperialistic ambitions. It is our belief that we have a moral obligation to refuse to further the interests of believers in a principle as dated as imperialism. Diplomacy can and will be continued, but we should reiterate that we shall no longer abide by the defensive pact between our two countries.

Sincerely,

Andrei Harkov
Deputy Secretary of Foreign Affairs

To President Silvanus
The Republic of Legantus

President Silvanus,

Upon further review of Mr. Christian Becker's findings at the Brothers in Arms Meet, we would like to inform you of our cancellation of our pact with the Empire of Valkany. The ideological differences between Valkany and Rusnya are too great, and would prove to be detrimental to us in the long run.

That brings me to my main point. Interaction between Legantus and Rusnya has been sparse up until the past few weeks, but the goals we share are significant. The Republic of Legantus and the Federation of Rusnya are two nations at the forefront of the fight for the promotion of democracy on Noverra. That being said, I would like to arrange an official summit between the leadership of our two countries, at a location of your choosing. We look forward to your response, and may democracy prevail.

Most sincerely,

Heinrich Amsel
President of the Federation of Rusnya

"I see. As I said you're completely free to do as you wish with your nation's diplomacy, I'm just here about the Trade Agreement. President Amsel is a smart man and I have complete faith in his abilities to decide what's best for Rusnya. Well with all the commotion they are causing we might be fitting your criteria very soon." he joked reffering to the protesters; "Assuming those criteria are anti-imperialism and democracy, if I'm not mistaken?"

"Correct, Your Majesty," said Lukin. "We wouldn't forcefully move for a regime change anywhere, but moves towards democracy are always encouraging, at least in the eyes of Rusnya. I hope you don't mind me asking, but how great is their influence and support throughout Valkany?"

"Oh of course, it's alright. How great, you say?" the Emperor took a second to think before continuing; "Well I don't have actual reports on the matter, but the number of protesters, the electoral promise for VKIP and the various polls show that their influence is so great that a couple of days from now I probably won't be seating here talking with you as an Emperor anyome. Though the desperate look on the Prime Minister's face does more than just make up for it. To be honest I just wanted to be sure that when I give up the throne to the democrats and the people I wouldn't be leaving my country in an akward position toward our friends."

"I can understand the sentiment. Rusnya made the transition from imperialism to being a democracy, albeit from more violent means, but we know the feeling of being in a rather uncomfortable diplomatic position once that transition is made. I think I can speak for my government when I say that, although we don't support the current imperialist government, any democratic government that takes its place would have our backing."

"Then I would like to thank you for all my concerns have been put to rest."

The Emperor stood up and extened his hand to the Ambassador.

"I wish we had more time, but it seems I'm in shortage of that. I wouldn't like to waste your time either. Let's hope that our friend Nautilus gives you a similarly enjoying time. If it's alright with you I'd like to gift you a Faberge Egg given to me my Great Grandmother. It will probably be the last diploamtic gift I ever make."

A servant entered the room. He opened a suitcase demonstrating the gift.

Lukin opened the box to see the gift that the Emperor had given him. A big smile crossed his face, "Your Majesty....I don't know what to say, except for thank you...It's unfortunate how our relations have soured in light of the recent events, but it's my hope that one day we can repair this fracture." Lukin shook the Emperor's hand and headed towards the door, turning around one more time before exiting, "Just know that whatever the future may hold, you will always be a friend of Rusnya."

With that, Lukin exited the palace and entered his car, departing back for his office at the Rusnyan Embassy in St. Demetrium. Upon reaching his office, he placed the egg the Emperor had given to him at the front right corner of his desk, smiling as he gazed upon it.
