"Well it's time", said Louis. He took his small army of pages and made his into the conference room. "Hmm, It seems we can only get one of you in. He decided to take his oldest page, a doctoral student called Dietrich, from Rusnya. "The rest of you can go back to the Embassy and wait for us."

Cathair entered the meeting hall and found his assigned seat. Noting the empty seat beside his and wondered if it even crossed their minds to send him with an adviser, perhaps a trained diplomat or even a bard or an ovate from The Circle. The seat will just have to be empty he thought and prepared to take notes for himself.

[OOC: In an effort to keep this meeting from stagnating, I'm moving it forward; sorry Adam.]

Antonio clears his throat, grabbing the attention of the room. Waiting for the room to quiet, he proceeds onward, sitting up in his chair.

“On behalf of His Most Graciousness, King Bernhard, I now call attention to our meeting here today. Now...if you would all kindly look at agendas provided in the folder in front of you, we may begin.”

Agenda

  • Establishment of Organization
  • Espionage Reports in Izalith
  • Economic Objectives and Ideas
  • Militaristic Planning & Logistics
  • Open Floor

"First order of business, I assume we have all gathered here today for the same purpose of mutual defence and assurance between our nations, and such, having this made official would only make our ambitions and intentions more real.”

Antonio looks around.

“As the letter that brought us all here today mentioned us to be called the ‘League of Crowns, for monarchies make up most of us, however fails to fully capture all of us. Therefore, I propose something more...organic, do we have any suggestions?”

Ambassador Lefkada signaled to attract attention to herself. “As I represent one of the nations whose leader does not actually wear a ‘crown,’ I would like to speak on this matter of names. Under normal circumstances, my anax would have no issue with the name ‘League of Crowns,’ for even without the trappings of monarchy, the office of the anax is not unlike a Victorian king’s throne. However, Anax Kerameikos has expressed his concern that a league whose very name promotes a specific form of government might be taken as a threat against those nations who do not share that system. Perhaps some of us are truly nervous about what threat democracy may pose to us, but Anax Kerameikos believes that democracy as a system has no special currency at the moment. The danger to Victorium lies in the actions of specific nations—not all of whom are democracies at all.”

The ambassador glanced at King Bernhard, before returning her attention to Emperor Antonio. “Months ago, Achaian Peloponnese was invited to Castratene to take part in a summit to form a ‘Castratene Pact.’ It was… unfortunate, I’m sure Your Majesty will agree, that such a summit never occurred.” Well, it was unfortunate for the Austianese budget, perhaps, considering that Lefkada, her showpiece aide, and her ‘security detail’ had been staying in a Castratene hotel at Klink’s expense, and Bernhard’s thereafter (though the latter had probably never realized just what that money was being spent on, if he had bothered to look through the minor points of the budget at all in the brief time since he had taken the throne). “Anax Kerameikos considers this meeting to be the final completion of the original invitation sent to him by Gustav Klink’s government, and he is more than willing to suggest that the name of our alliance here be the ‘League of Castratene.’ Thus, we will not alienate any potential allies, regardless of their own governments, while still presenting a united front against those nations we consider rivals or enemies—again, no matter whether they wear crowns on their heads or opinion polls around their necks.”

Telvan merely stared at the Achaian as she cast a glance at the Austianese king.
"Considering the sad reality that nation's dispositions exist with a measure of fluidity and that crown has been suggested to be replaced with Castratene as a name, Izalith suggests 'The Castratene Pact' as a neutral and fitting name for this..."

Telvan scanned the room as she finished her sentence.
"... coalition."

Miorill finished typing quietly moments after Telvan was finished speaking, she was recording the meeting's audio, however she was also making notes. The Fair Lady enjoyed unnecessary information for some reason. No point pondering the mental workings of a divine being though.
The younger woman's voice came out filtered and accented through her gas mask.
"Depending on the investments and drive behind all involved... Taking up the title of something such as The Sovereign Alliance. Or if our bonds are more fitting, simply The Alliance may synchronize with our hopefully similar and lofty ambitious for global stability, honor and peace."

Izalith had given several name suggestions. Telvan waited for more representatives to speak as Miorill's focus shifted to preparing her presentation on the second topic of the day.

Louis liked the sound of both names, although he was partial to Lefkada's suggestion on the name change. "League of Castratene"kept a sense of continuity from Bernhard's "League of Crowns". Even then, it didn't matter.
"We are partial to the names 'Castratene Pact' and 'League of Castratene." Louis clasped his hands together and looked out at the conference room.

[OOC: While Adam’s away, I’ve been given access to his account to keep the meeting going. -Romar]

Bernhard sits listening to the many suggestions. He had to admit, he likes them more, it has more legality to it, or something like it.

“Both suggestions, ‘The Castratene Pact’ and ‘The League of Castratene’ are great, however I am more inclined to the latter. The former brings with it...too much baggage from the past. The latter, well, it’s all-inclusive, simple and clean.”

He takes a moment to think for a second.

“If we could all agree on ‘League of Castratene’, we can move on to the disturbing reports that I’ve heard from the Izalith.“

Bernhard turns to face High General Telvan.

“You have the floor to start, General.”

Miorill reached a hand out halfheartedly and mock sobbed as her chance to present her report was stolen by the hands of foreigners.
She lent in to Telvan and flashed her eyelashes through her mask's visor, she was promptly ignored as Telvan lent forward to the microphone.
"The Izalithian adviser Miorill Azu will now present her report on the recent espionage attempts by the nation Gilead. Which was a huge insult to our sovereign nation followed by direct insults, slander and lies that some nations here had representatives present to hear about."
The High General lent back in her chair and crossed her arms as Miorill shot up and smoothed down her rather long black jacket.

She soon circled around one of the corners of the large U shaped table and walked around the inner edge. Dropping a copy of the report in front of each nation's members.
Inside was a map showing the following:
Where several drones were shot down in different locations via ground to air missiles.
Where a drone was intercepted by an interceptor aircraft.
Where several different operatives where chased out of the country, escaping via vessel or across the border.
Where the three different Gilead spies were captured successfully.
Where the vessel that launched the drones was chased back into international waters.

Photos of the drones in flight, drone wreckage, the vessel clearly being of Gilead make and the operatives in question were all paper clipped to the corresponding papers.
There was also an interrogation excerpt from one of the captured spies, it contained dialogue between the Inquisitor Prime and Prisoner #2.
The conversation contained the assurance that Izalith wouldn't terminate any living Gilead operatives within it's borders as long as their general positions were no longer usable. The spy gave in and gave the information after a day and 4 hours had past from being asked.

A report concerning the well being of all three prisoners was also contained. All three were alive, healthy and mentally sound. Gilead had made no effort to ask for their return however.

Miorill returned to her seat and lifted up her mask so it was sitting on her head so she could speak clearly. Her accented English soon entered the device.
"As you can see we have ample proof of our claims concerning the espionage within our nation. Any requests to see the captured wreckage, original photos or prisoners will be acknowledged and approved if any nation's curiosity is not yet quenched concerning how these wonderful capitalist overlords could ever do something so rude."

Telvan slowly turned her head in Miorill's direction. Not impressed that she was being a smart ass.

"The Fair Lady was gravely saddened to learn that so many faces from around the world looked down upon her own appointed representative at the UN meeting. As you may know, the Queen in her own judgement decided on the spot that the UN is not in fact a group made up to safeguard world order but in reality yet another little club of corrupt currency mongers obsessed with staying on top and feeling important."
Miorill smirked and brushed some of her hair out of eyes.
"The Fair Lady agreed with more solemn words and worries of course. Now concerning our reaction. Izalith's public stance is that it holds no ill will toward Gilead and will let all matters slide. Despite the unwritten protocol for captured spies being execution, The Fair lady has decreed in all her wisdom and mercy to relinquish the foolish drones back to their fatherland, rulers and families."

Miorill smiled and stuck her hands on her hips, tilting her head as she added.
"And if another nation sends military equipment across our border or agents trained to kill and spy within our civilian center once again, Izalith will instead take a zero tolerance approach and terminate all involved at the first moment available. The Fair lady is saddened by this state of affairs but knows that without projecting our strength our people can never feel safe from the malicious gaping maw of capitalism and selfish desire."

Miorill grinned and elbowed the High general in the side, who turned to her, staring for a few moments.
Telvan then faced the microphone and spoke, facing Valkany across the floor.
"As a show of good will and sorrow for poor first impressions, Izalith is willing to relinquish the Gilead agents to Crown Prince Andrew of Valkany as such an asset could be used to acquire Gilead aid or resources in the effort to purify and claim his homeland. In hindsight, my initial belief that Valkany's previous monarchy was weak and deserved to fail it's baptism of fire has been met with a realization that our own country had inept rulers wearing the crown at one point that failed our own nation."

She nodded once at the Crown Prince and lent back, finishing.
"Queen Charlotte is an excellent monarch who puts her previous relatives to shame for generations. Despite a taste for luxury that conflicts with my own tastes. You may have the same potential to eclipse the failure that is your birthright and bring prosperity, loyalty and direction to your people. As an apology you can have these three personnel as Valkany's former ruling body should have the most opportunity to gain concerning the corporate conglomerates of Gilead and their puppet king."

Telvan stopped speaking and Miorill leaned forward again.
"Gilead does not respect the authority, borders or people of any nation it cannot take advantage of. They have been successfully found guilty of espionage. As our nation's annual reports for the fiscal year and civilian overwatch come in you'll also find them guilty of slander and lying. However if my sources are correct several Dawinians within our nation at the moment have already been made privy to information that proves without a doubt that we have not in fact been killing, starving or depriving our people of necessities. We can also prove that we are still spending the most on foreign aid. Although to be fair a large area that we were sending aid to recently joined out nation as a new state, however I imagine we're still easily in the top five concerning that."

Miorill grinned and rested her chin on her now interlocked fingers as she waited for someone to interject or for the speaker to say something.

The Valkanian Crown Prince was stunned;
"Thank you, Your Excellency. It would seem indeed that only realms ruled by kings for ages can see bad ones and only wise rulers can understand who the incompetent rulers were. You have my thaks for these three spies. I will make sure to exchange them in a manner benefactory to our League, as well as one that will help me reclaim my throne so I can actually be an actvie memebr of this organization. I know that right now it might not count for much but I prefer the name 'League of Castranete'."

Lefkada leaned forward to look around Major Korinna and look directly at the Izalithian delegation. “Achaian Peloponnese thanks you and your nation for providing this information,” she began. “The Megaron will certainly analyze the information you have gathered from these spies to its fullest extent.” The ambassador paused as she considered how to word her next sentence tactfully, considering that the Izalithian corporal had been rather aggressive about her offer. “Furthermore, I would like to request that military specialists from Achaian Peloponnese be allowed to inspect these downed Gileadan craft. While we have no doubts about the veracity of the information you have provided, we would appreciate the opportunity to delve into the technology itself in the hopes of discovering further means to counteract it.”

‘Or at the very least,’ Lefkada thought silently, ‘we might learn how to replicate it.’

The Izalithian High General looked across at Lefkada. "Your appreciation is not required. The salvage and mostly intact drone recovered from our operations are already in the process of undergoing analysis, disassembly and research. The primary issue you face with spy drones is tracking them down. As your desire is to locate these devices my advice would be to focus on technology that aids in such endeavors."
She crossed her hands on the table and shook her head.
"Gilead and Izalith, the most isolated LoC nation share a silent cessation of negativity concerning this fiasco. Our offer to Valkany is a show that we're willing to increase the distance between ourselves and a negative occurrence with the superpower directly north of us. Making Gilead stealth drone technology public knowledge would counter these moves and risk endangering Izalith for little to no benefit to Izalith itself."

"If you secretly doubt the authenticity of our claims you can oversee the prisoner transfer or observe the wreckage and destroyed components of the already gone over drones. Beyond that, Izalith does not feel the necessity to risk international peace for a chance at a slight increase in efficiency concerning the reverse engineering or something as niche as an unarmed spy drone."

The High General turned to Miorill and they shared a few words, she then turned back.

"Izalith votes for the League of Castratene as the name. I'm sure another nation present has something more pressing or important to them that they would like to bring up." Telvan looked over at Miorill's screen as she finished typing everything she'd said.

Miorill flashed a cheeky grin at the High General who just stared back and slowly pulled her gas mask back over her face.

"The Privy Council of Auvernia had deemed the Union of Nations a new ploy of Gilead, hence we did not join. They presented this forum for Gileadian neo-imperialism under the guise of humanitarism, a very cunning move."

Louis took a small swig of water, and continued.

"Furthermore, we have ties - not necessarily close ties - with Gilead ensuring protection of Acadia. However, this arrangement was made during age of the Proto-Giladic nations. Considering that the Lordship of Cielo was the preeminent force at the time in the Acadian region, we aligned with them to protect Acadia from hostile nations in the region. However during the creation of the Giladian Kingdom - considering that the Cielan state was the hegemon amongst the others - this arrangement carried into Gregorius's reign. Over the years, during the reign of my late grandfather, Jean III and now my cousin Charles, there is this suspicion that Gilead covets this little territory of Acadia. Geopolitically speaking, Acadia is existing on borrowed time. Now that Her Excellency presents us with this evidence of Gilead spying on Izalith's territory, what is expected from them now?"

Louis stayed silent of a short bit, until he reminded himself and continued.

"It should also be known that Gregorius had contact with Dawinian Rebels during the St. Edward conflict some years ago, under Dante. Gilead's greed for land will not stop until it reaches Medai, and even then, do we think they plan on stopping there?"

"Thanks to the current democratic government Gilead, has bases on our soil. Should I regain my throne I will make sure to demand Valkany be granted bases on their soil, which could be very helpful to our league or cancel their right to hold these bases." noted Andrew; "Gilead's spy network is extensive. They even managed to get an unmarked letter to my father, the former Emperor, immediately after his abdication when he was under Secret Intelligence Service MI5 Protection. I think that's a sign we should all be worried. Though their southern counterpart, Legantus, is also very bent on spreading 'democracy' to all of us."

The nerve they [Gilead] have,’ thought Antonio, as he began reading the reports again.

“This does not need saying, however, this is quite disturbing,” said Fernando, now getting the full details from these reports. Although he had caught wind of this, Antonio had not shared with anyone else of the reports.

“Indeed, it is,” responded Antonio, now turning towards the Izalithians, “your evidence and true reporting is wonderful and we are truly grateful. Those Gileadans...our relationship with them has always been strained, even during the colonial days. And just like Louis had mentioned, they personally, and purposely, instigated the Edwardian Rebellion; they do not know what honour is and this spying thing just furthers our suspicions.”

“The Asamblea will be very interested in this new information, this I do know,” said Fernando.

"And so will the SSD (Servicio de Seguridad Dâwínian [Dawinian Security Service]."

Ambassador Lefkada sighed and nodded. “I understand your concerns, General,” she said. “Having embarrassed Gilead already regarding this matter, it is prudent for Izalith to leave matters as they are and allow tensions to die down; Achaian Peloponnese has taken much the same course when dealing with Gilead and its… exuberances, as well, specifically after your Queen Charlotte brought word of Gilead’s actions to the public ear during the meeting of the Union of Nations. However, that policy has been negated, I think, by our present meeting here.” The ambassador motioned around the room. “We gather here in an obvious attempt to obtain safety in numbers and pool our resources in the face of threats, real or perceived, that seek to change our nations’ governments and societies for the sake of foreign interests. Those interests that are most worrisome to Achaian Peloponnese, if not to the rest of us, are those tied to Gilead in some form or another: not only in relation to this matter of espionage, but also, indirectly, with the matter of Valkany’s recent regime change, considering the chain of relationships between Rusnya, Legantus, and Gilead, as well as the Valkanian democratic government’s very swift action to reassure Gilead that their former alliance remained intact despite the change in circumstances.” Lefkada spread her arms, turning to the room at large. “Perhaps our analysis is picking at straws,” she said. “Perhaps we are running from phantoms. But on the other hand, perhaps this Gileadan interference in foreign affairs will be coupled with anti-monarchical and anti-traditional political actions from Gilead or its allies sometime in the future. Achaian Peloponnese firmly believes in situating itself and those who will stand with it in the most advantageous position possible in order to meet such a threat with a minimized risk of failure. We, at least, would like to even the playing field more effectively than it has thus far been evened.” The ambassador turned to General Telvan once again. “And considering that Gilead will already be reassessing its own position relative to our various nations based simply on our attendance in this meeting—which is no secret, of course—all of us can expect a less friendly relationship with that kingdom in the near future, regardless of any further actions we take regarding them and their equipment.”
