Westwelle, a heavy sleeper, laughed. "Thank you, Sir. I shall certainly take that advice on board. Thank you, bye now." Guido hung up the phone, and took his glasses off. It was a big day of campaigning, and he hadn't slept at all for the past four days. He had began to appreciate sleep much more greatly after tghis three month political campaign, and he would certainly heed Gregory's advice. The President-Elect, grateful for the short but warm phone call with the Gileadean President, sat down in the dull temporary office and signalled to the only other person in the room, his Chief of Staff, to put him on with the Bruvalkian Preisndent. "Mr. President, apologies for the wait." Guido said, when the connection was successfully completed. |

"Mr. Westwelle, Please do not apologize! I should be the one apologizing for holding you up so late after a long day. I know that both you and I have political matters to attend to, so I will make my message brief." Rene picks up his cigar from the table, and leans back into his chair. He focuses on the ceiling fan and relays his message through the phone. "When I was first elected, my predecessor passed on some wise words that I feel every leader should hear. He said to me, that to lead people, you must first walk behind them." Rene takes a long drag from his cigar and pauses, sitting up in his chair. "This means that to truly lead people, you must understand them. It is the miscommunication, between leaders, and citizens, that destroys the social contract we all sign when taking our leadership roles, and breaks the trust that hold nations together. Now I'm sorry for going on, but I just thought it necessary for us to create a relationship at the earliest stage of your presidency. Congratulations once again, and good luck in your future endeavors. I'm sure that we will speak again in the near future." Proud of his short speech, Rene puts down his cigar and turns his attention to the newspaper on his desk once again, awaiting a response from his Presidential acquaintance on the other line. |

Guido smiled as he humbly accepted the thought-provoking advice Rene had to give him. "Thank you Mr President," Guido replied, "I wholeheartedly agree, and I hope that I can serve my people just as well as you have, sir. Brulkavia is a beautiful country, and I really do hope I get to meet you in person there very soon. I've always wanted to travel to the city of Stoyan, but I've never had the chance, perhaps one day soon I might be able to spend a couple of nights there. I really do admire it's beauty." Guido shook his head, feeling as if he was wandering off-topic and overextending his flattery. "There are a great deal of matters I would like to speak to you about in-depth very soon." Guido remarked, "And I agree, it's important to cement diplomatic relations not just between countries, but between leaders. Thank you Mr. President, I shall speak to you in good time." Once Rene gave his final farewell, Guido answered various other congratulatory calls from colleagues, business interests, family and friends, before packing up his belongings and flying to Castratene later that night. |

OOC: Dmitri, this communique is sent before the Gulf conflict, so it would be best if in that RP you communicate with the President to re-discuss relations in the context of the new events of the Gulf RP.
