The Empire of Izalith, Sumika, Sumika Prime, The Imperial Palace, the living chambers of the Emperor

The Emperor creaked and groaned as he lifted himself up against his pillow to look at his daughter, his expressionless, infuriating daughter. His entourage of maids, handlers and his steward all flanked his huge bed at various distances all constantly watching over the Emperor and the various medical machines he was connected to.

"Lily Dunois. You have found a way to disappoint me even further. Truly you continue to be full of surprises..." the Emperor wheezed and feebly threw the newspaper he had been reading, which was quickly snatched out of the air by a maid.
"You were kept in that backwater for reasons you know full well. How dare you act without my permission. The Empire cannot afford this, nations will not buy that we just peacefully brought in this much space! You can't just ruin well planned-"
The Emperor let out a hacking cough as his steward placed a re-breather over his mouth.

This gave his daughter an opportunity to speak.
"Your fears of the status quo changing are meaningless 'father', swathes of pathetic nations are aligning against you and looking for any excuse to agitate the Empire. Now it's their turn to be agitated."
The young woman glared at the Emperor and his steward, the low amber lighting of the room masking her albinism slightly.

The steward spoke now. "Teletra was just one of many poorly off countries the Empire had designated for aid in an effort to improve our image outside of the first world sphere, as that ship has sailed. It was never our intention to annex an area so close to Valkany when their charming reactions to being undercut are so well known."
The Emperor removed the mask and frowned.
"You've given me a backwards half frosted and half barren hole. Do you really think other nations will just stand by and allow this to happen? We can't move troops into Teletra, Valkany would take it as the beginning of war preparations. Even then, the military assets under your new command are utterly useless and outdated. Zaliviyan equipment from the 40's isn't going to help you when Valkany has a tantrum and keeps sending mercenaries in to chase you out."

The princess and sudden lord of Teletra crossed her arms and shook her head. "I've done my homework on these issues. Teletra is a perfectly humble and peaceful puppet of the Empire of Izalith. Complaints with the change aren't violent and actual Imperial forces amount to the squads used for construction and aid distribution. Face it. Gilead has dissipated from Novera as the big helpful power. They consider themselves world police. It is the Empire that is viewed as the hero of the forsaken and the poor, we are the ones who are helping this world grow."

The Emperor rolled his dry eyes and sighed once more. "I can't deny you because it would make the Empire look moronic. So you can have your puppet. But know this, next time your little addiction comes into play I won't be there to make it vanish. You can rise or fall on your own merits."
Princess Lily went to speak but a maid blocked the line of sight between her and the Emperor, which means she was now supposed to leave.

"Praise Dia and the Emperor. Until all are one."
The Princess turned and left the chamber, making her way down the ornate hallways gilded with gold and tapestries. The phalanxes of royal guard staring over her as she walked daintily on toward the foyer.

The world wants the opportunity to lay all of it's problems and faults on the Empire. Barren hole or no, I'm going to use that to create my own opportunities.
