Antony Lappa looked down below at the massive crowd huddled up together as a wave of people slowly marching towards the Presidential Palace at the heart of Darmannis. He looked behind him to check on his camera man. The person behind gave him a thumbs up. He nodded and then directed his gaze towards the pilot of the helicopter. "Can you get us down a bit lower?" He asked with a loud voice to get his message across as the helicopter's rotors. The pilot simply nodded and the chopper flew a couple of feet down. Antony looked behind him again and saw his camera man aiming his camera at the open down, down towards the crowd gathering below. Antony cleared his throat, made some final checks on his scripts and took a deep breathe. This was his first assignment and the pressure was daunting on him. He shook his head and heard his camera man counting down. 3, 2, 1 and then they were live. "Hello Palie and hello to our viewers. I am here hovering above 21th Charlonne street, only a few miles kilometers away from Presidential Palace. This crowd has gathered here today because of the released information given by Gilead only a week ago. The people are clear with what they want. They are pressuring President Peshe and other officials involve with alleged Crimes against Humanity to step down and be trailed. The people down there are chanting one word as they march; 'Justice'. You can clearly see the determination of this people. Some of them have been on the street since very early this morning or even since yesterday night. The social media world has been abuzz with this event with several groups organizing this event since Gilead has informed the Tataloonian masses about files that incriminate the Peshe administration. The people are being led by Sammir Zhabawi, a very affluent businessman man with very close connections to President Omar Peshe himself. Critics of the rally and even some of people in the rally themselves questions Peshe's motives. Chief amongst those are Senate minority representative Samuel Doado and the Progressive-Socialist party leader Thomas Ototo. However aside from this divisions, the protest continues. The Darmannis city police and the Tataloona national police are trying to hold off the protest to allow traffic to resume. However the protesters will not yield until Peshe steps out of office. This is Antony Lappa, reporting on for the Channel 4 news network. Back to you Pallie." |

(OOC: Because Peshe committed those crimes in secret. Every operation was kept highly covert but even then it would have some paper trails that somebody could stumble upon. Gilead just happened to find the person who stumbled on the secret and got it out to the masses. Now that it has, the media will milk it for all it's worth). Carole Nanella was watching the t.v., listening in to an old police radio that was once her dad's and installing a new air conditioner inside a black Cartelle 2300 classic. Carole Nanella was well known in the area because she was a mechanic of the feminine gender. In a society where the classic psychosocial gender roles where to be regarded highly, she broke the rules and took on a rather masculine profession. However nobody really disliked her for it. They just thought it was a bit peculiar for a woman to be doing heavy lifting. Carole didn't mind though. She liked it actually. She liked the attention and since her parents were bugging her about finding a husband, she didn't have to worry about where to find one. "Turn off the television! You're wasting power!" A loud voice came from the second level of the building. "Just a second uncle! I need to watch the news!" She yelled back. "Watch it out of the window! You can see it clearly there!" Carole smiled. She was always close to her uncle. It was he who taught her to to become a mechanic at the age of 16. Ever since then, Carole has been obsessed with the mechanic workings of automobiles. Her obsession become her full time job after high school. Her dad begged her to go to college and take up accounting but her mind was set. After seeing how much money she could make, her dad begrudgingly accepted her daughter's decision. Her uncle's shop location was in prime real estate. It was at the crossroad between Charlonne and Duparire street. All the high government officials, foreign visitors and wealthy business moguls drove through this intersection. Carole and her uncle usually had very wealthy patrons in their establishments. Carole may not have been wealthy but she certainly wasn't living in poverty. "As you can see here, the protest has grounded to a halt just a few miles from the Presidential Palace. Absolutely nothing has been able to get in or out of the establishment. The authorities has been trying to clear the are for traffic but the protestors stand firm." Carole lifted her head to get a clear view of the television. She saw the reporter at the end of the crowd. She quickly stepped out of the car and came rushing towards the window. She saw the reporter just a few blocks from her. "Uncle Jarrome! They're reporting here!" Carole called out to her uncle. "Of course they are!" Her uncle answered back from above. "Those damn protesters have been causing problems for everyone!" Carole chuckled as she went back to inside the car she was working on. Before he could get in though, the police chatter on the radio caught her attention. "Containment breached. They're moving towards the red zone." "Have they turned violent?" "Negative." "Aggravate." The last one made Carole's eyes open wide. What did they mean by aggravate? What were they planning on doing? And before she could ponder more on this questions, she heard a commotion outside. She ran towards the door again and saw a man in a black shirt with black cloth wrapped around his face ran towards the protesters. He had what seemed like a flaming bottle in his hand which he then proceeded to throw at the police. It landed on one of their shields and the cop holding it quickly threw it on the ground. The protesters were taken back. They didn't knew what was happening. Without hesitation, the police came down to break up the protest. Carole watched in horror as the police began to use excessive force to allow access back to the Presidential Palace. Though who passively lay themselves on the ground were treated still with beatings and those who resisted were given much, much worst. Carole turned back to hide inside the shop when she noticed a couple of people entering the building. She couldn't turn them back and she wouldn't. Her uncle was screaming for her name, calling her to get back upstairs. Before she could though, she sees a couple of the navy blue police uniforms entering the shop. She raises her hand in hopes that it would be suffice to not suffer the wrath of the officers. It wasn't though and she was treated to a baton to her face. |
