Proventia, The Legantian Alliance

Silvanus walked through Proventia's Central Park, enjoying the summer day and what little time off he had between meetings of the new Parliament and the various men and women in charge of the reconstruction. Politicians were, in his (rather hypocritical opinion) some of the worst of humanity. Constantly attempting to climb over one another for a brief glimpse of power before being yanked down by one of those they had climbed over. At least in the aftermath of the war many had turned their power-grubbing ways to a more constructive purpose. Aid funding was beginning to trickle in, and Gileadian troops would be arriving shortly to assist in the reconstruction efforts. Many of the foreign volunteers had returned home, but what remained were also assisting in the reconstruction. The Valkanians remained because they now had nowhere else to go.

The new King had been cooperative in the initial measures, but Silvanus always felt as though the man thought he was better than everyone else in the room whenever he showed up. He reasoned it was the result of his upbringing in a foreign noble house. He was offering no resistance on the initial steps needed to bring Caturix to Alliance standards, and that was a good thing.

The Lager des Gottes... Silvanus almost shuddered at the thought of those horrible places. The sickeningly sweet smell of freshly-burned human flesh permeated the air of those awful compounds where the sodomites, heretics, and infidels of the UMC had been thrown and left to rot. Humanitarian aid had been rushed there, unfortunately to the detriment of other areas. It was necessary, however. Silvanus found himself wishing - not for the first time - that Wilhelm III was still alive so he could kill the bastard with his own hands.

He found his thoughts interrupted, however. A runner plied his trade up the lightly-wooded and empty path behind Silvanus before coming to a stop. Silvanus's new assistant, Hersh Berkowicz, walked up to where Silvanus was standing from his position about two meters behind him. The runner handed the Prime Minister a small packet of papers from a diplomatic pouch before saluting and running back down the path from which he had come. Silvanus scanned through the papers before a smile rose on his face. The far older Hersh looked at the back of the rather expensive government paper, then at the man holding them.

"Am I correct in assuming, sir, that this has to do with that day trip you took on the First?"

Silvanus, his smile turning into a smirk, nodded and placed the papers into the offered briefcase. "Indeed it does, Mr. Berkowicz. And it is a sign of things to come." He closed his eyes breathed in deeply, savoring the clean air and relative lack of noise. "This will be written of in history books, my friend. You will soon see." His eyes opened, and he glanced in alarm at his watch. "Unfortunately, however, we have a meeting back at the Capitol. The Integration committee is putting forward another proposal for a new Capitol city."

"Should be exciting, sir." Berkowicz closed the case and followed Silvanus back down the path.
