Robert Mgugan stares outside his open door, glaring at the greyish water lapping against the sandbags that were put down. For some reason, this year, it has been more worse than ever, and he knows that slowly this small island paradise is sinking beneath the waves. He sighs, and goes into the back rooms to get more sandbags.. this is going to be a rough night. A sound suddenly rings from the kitchen, and he drops the sandbags in shock. "Crap," he says to himself, "They weren't meant to call me until later!" Robert makes his way quickly to the kitchen, and angrily goes to silence the phone, before the photograph of the contact stops him suddenly. "Yes," he says into the phone. "Robert, honey, it's horrible here! There is water everywhere!!!" "Calm down, Lanice, please." "I'm sorry, but the flooding has gotten worse..." The fear in his wife's voice was apparent, if there was flooding in the capital than that could only mean that the works of his wife were correct, the Kingdom is indeed sinking beneath the waves. "Lanice, tell me how bad it is?" "Robert, it's terrible. The recent floodings in the capital has brought unrest. The Seperationists are using this as their chance to cause chaos against the king, honey, there may even be another war in Greater Swaziland. Everybody is on high alert, but in the north of the city there comes the constant sound of military action... So many people have died in the flooding!" "What is the king doing about this?" Robert replies, realising how badly the situation truly was. If the Seperationists have their way, then the islands will break up into their own smaller nations, rather than just follow the one nation. It will bring about an 8th Civil War. "King Christian I is dormant, the palace has been blocked off by the military should there be a strike by Seperationist militants. Although, the report that was made by the Supreme Union is correct, our nation is indeed sinking slowly. We have laid this off for too long, our nation needs to stop fighting wars and start putting money into buying that equipment to keep us aliv-" A sudden crackle on the other end, and the signal cuts out abruptly. The heat of fear is apparent on Robert's face though... the Dictator that was their king was doing nothing to help slow the rising waters that got higher and higher each year, the nation was on the brink of another war, and his wife was unreachable as the phone lines were down. Outside, a bolt of thunder illuminated through the window, and the raging storm seemed to have gotten stronger. Although, it was not the thunder and storm that frightened him, it was the knowledge that, should they continue onwards, it would mean that he would need to don his General outfit again, and lead a force into yet another war based on greed and pain. His wife would hopefully contact him, he knew that she would be relatively safe within the Department of Meteorology. He, on the other hand, would soon need to get to the military base and fly to the Capital. Until then, all that he could do was wait inside the comfort of his beach side home. Robert makes his way back into the main room, and picks up the sandbag that he dropped earlier. Placing it above the other sandbags, he looks back out onto the grey ocean and whisper a silent prayer. A prayer of hope that the oncoming war would not be as disastrous as the others. |
