My country always does better at the summer olympics anyway.
Pretty much all of our winter olympic medals are from speed skating, and two years back we had one for snowboarding, and that was the first one in our entire history for that discipline...
We just suck at both, so far we have two bronze and one silver from London and winter olympics aren't much better :P
We have six gold, six silver and eight bronze, which seems to be fairly average for us despite being such a tiny country in comparison. :P
It's funny that our media still quickly turns our silver- and bronze medalists into new national heroes, even if no one has ever heard of their sport before :P (like windsurfing where we got our silver)

Our windsurfer was the flag bearer at the opening ceremony, don't think anyone had ever heard of him, but he won gold as if it were nothing. At least we're relatively well-known for getting medals with sailing and swimming and stuff.
We had the glass half full or glass half empty debate come up on television every time someone won silver or bronze, as if anything but gold wasn't good enough, and I was like "there's twenty people over there who would have killed to be in your position and you actually have the audacity to whine on national television?"

Yeah that's pretty stupid. It's not an issue here though since we haven't even been dreaming of gold to begin with...

One of my countries' BMX athletes actually studied at my high school, a year below me. It's kind of funny to see the guy who was always London this and London that in our school newspaper and one of those young up-and-coming super talents with god knows how many national, european and world titles under his belt go down in the quarter finals. (The other three were 4th and 5th at the guy's run and 3rd at the girl's run, respectively) :P
Granted, the guy had just recovered from a critical injury he got last year, but still...
