Hello peeps, and welcome to Bander’s domain. Today, article members get to decide what type of fiends we should conjure up. At first, I wanted to make a Dark World deck theme, but that deck is overplayed in the Advance format. Instead, I chose a theme that doesn’t get much recognition, the Archfiends. The Archfiends are demons that have a unique type of effects than those other fiends. Each of these diabolical fiends has distinctive effects that make them deadly to the opposing player, but as well as it can backfire towards the user who controls these fiends. Now, I will go in-depth of these creatures of their unique abilities, and the question of that archfiend is strong enough to enter the metagame. We’ll start off with the Archfiend Soldier. The Demon Soldier that will indeed do whatever is necessary to get the job done. This monster is strong enough to take out those small monsters who stand in its way, and it’s gonna take a bigger monster to take down this Demon infantry. He’ll make a splendid archfiend, as he can be a good draw in tight situations. Next, we have the Darkbishop Archfiend. His duty is to protect those who try to destroy his fellow archfiends. The problem with this bishop is that he can’t protect himself from danger, and with that low stats of attack and defense, he is rendered uselessly against those opposing creatures. He has a decent effect, but ashamed to say that he isn’t useful and can actually hurt you if ever call upon this fiend. Next, we have the Desrook Archfiend. He is the sworn protector of the King himself, and does whatever it takes to protect his master. Now, he has decent stats, but the effect is what is important. When the Terrorking Archfiend is destroyed, he will be used to sacrifice himself to bring him back. He also has the ability to negate any opposing cards targeting him, though it’s a one in six chance of negating that card. He makes a decent back up monster, and I would recommend using this demon. The ShadowKnight Archfiend. The king’s most faithful knight, and wicked more than the Archfiend Soldier. He has a hefty cost than the rest of the Archfiends if you want to pay for his service, and he has the stats to prove his worthiness. He’s not bad by any means; he’s good, but not great. In this deck, this knight can help, and he can negate cards targeting him in a 1 to 6 chance. Overall, I would recommend this knight, but don’t overdo it. Now to present the king himself, the Terrorking Archfiend. He needs a faithful subject at his side for him to be summoned on the field. He has decent stats like his Knight, and can negate any card with a 2 to 6 chance. Any monster he destroys, will be negated, which is a sweet effect. With all those effect monsters ramping luring around, he can be a serious threat to the opposing players, and is overall recommended. Did you really think that’s it? The King isn’t the most threat as many assume, but another archfiend, that is considered to be the deadliest and strongest of them all, is the Skull Archfiend of Lightning. He has enormous strength and also the ability to negate any cards targeting him, with a 50% chance of happening. He’s a staple in an Archfiend deck, and calling this fiend’s service will be well worth it. Now that we have assembled the monsters, though disregarding the Bishop, pawn, and even the might queen herself, there is still a problem. Calling all these archfiend monsters services will cost you lifepoints per standby phase. Luckily, there is card to negate that whole effect. Pandemonium. Let me just show you the effect of this field card Neither player has to pay Life Points during the Standby Phase for Archfiend monsters. Each time a player's Archfiend Monster Card(s) are destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, except as a result of battle, that player can select 1 Archfiend Monster Card from his/her Deck that has a lower Level than the destroyed card and add it to his/her hand. This is considered a staple in an archfiend deck. If you don’t even run three copies of this, then don’t bother constructing this deck. As long as you run three of this card, you pretty much can built this deck right away. Now that I have listed the Archfiend monster that I have recommended using, let’s just discuss the problem using this deck. This deck biggest and hugest weakness is by one monster – Cyber Dragon. Most of these archfiends only have 2000 attack and less. Cyber can easily kill this deck, and thus poses the problem why this type of theme deck is very unpopular today. To counter this threat, Archfiends need help from other monsters who can take that Cyber Dragon with no threat at all. Monsters that I suggest using – Dark Necropfear – She’s very easy to Special Summon in this type of deck, as well as a very versatile monster, as she is deadly when even destroyed by card effects. D.D Warrior Lady – It can pretty much take out any monsters if your archfiend is having trouble. She’s real good and can be very helpful in tight situations. Now that I have listed the monsters and cards, here is an example of an Archfiend Deck. Monsters - 19 1 x Dark Necrofear 2 x Skull Archfiend of Lightning 3 x Archfiend Soldier 2 x Deskrook Archfiend 2 x Terrorking Archfiend 2 x Shadowknight Archfiend 2 x Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive 2 x Iron Blacksmith Kotetsu 1 x D.D Warrior Lady 1 x Sangan 1 x Breaker The Magical Warrior Spells - 15 2 x Pandemonium 2 x Terraforming 1 x Graceful Charity 2 x Smashing Grounds 1 x Snatch Steal 1 x Mystical Space Typhoon 1 x Heavy Storm 1 x Nobleman of Crossout 1 x Sword of Revealing Light 1 x Rush Recklessly 2 x Falling Down Traps – 6 1 x Call of the Haunted 1 x Mirror Force 2 x Bottomless Traphole 2 x Sakuretsu Armor There you go, this is just a taste if how I would run it. The other monsters I put go well in this metagame. Dekoichi for those draws, D.D Warrior to counter those other monsters that hurts Archfiends like Mobius/Cyber Dragon, and Giant Germ is a good way to stall, as well as easy to Special Summon fast the Dark Necrofear. Well, and Pandemonium is your choice, since it'll be hard to maintaining the archfiend monsters for a set of period of time, the lp cost won't matter. Kotetsu was added to search for the equipment which will be benficial. Falling down works here as well. |
