E3 is almost upon us, and Nintendo has already announced some of their plans for the event this year.

Super Smash Bros. Tournament Highlights Nintendo's E3 Approach E3 Expo 2014

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Over the last few years, Nintendo has repeatedly reinvented its approach to E3 by creating unique ways to break news and get fans at home involved in the fun, while also offering great experiences for on-site attendees. That mission continues in 2014 as Nintendo offers a series of new channels to communicate news directly to its key audiences, including fans, media, analysts, investors and business partners. This includes a new format for unveiling news: the Nintendo Digital Event; a Super Smash Bros. tournament; a full slate of live, in-depth game demos from the Nintendo booth; and an opportunity for fans to play Super Smash Bros. for Wii U for the first time at their local Best Buy.

"We demonstrated last year that we are never afraid to reinvent a proven tactic or to break completely new ground if we believe it will provide the best experience for our fans, followers and partners," said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's president and chief operating officer. "So, whether you're attending E3 in person or joining online, there's an amazing lineup of games, experiences and events coming your way."

At E3 2014, Nintendo will offer four unique experiences, all under the unifying banner of "Play Nintendo."

Super Smash Bros. Invitational
2014 will see the arrival of not one, but two new Super Smash Bros. games: Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. To commemorate this occasion, Nintendo is inviting 16 highly skilled Super Smash Bros. players to the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles to compete in a Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament. Thousands of fans in the audience and countless more watching a live stream online will see new Super Smash Bros. characters clash with existing favorites in action for the first time. More important than declaring a winner, however, this event is a celebration of all things Super Smash Bros., and a great way for new and veteran fans to take part in a tribute to this legendary franchise. More information about the 16 invited participants in the tournament, the identity of the announcers, and how fans of the franchise can view the tournament in person and via webcast, will be communicated shortly.

Nintendo Digital Event
Every year, Nintendo looks for the best way to show its games and share its news with fans, media and other key audiences. In 2013, Nintendo decided to forgo a traditional press conference and use a video - in that case a Nintendo Direct - to share its news from E3. The company is building on that approach at E3 2014 with the "Nintendo Digital Event," a new kind of video program that will reveal and provide further detail about the gaming experiences on the way for Nintendo platforms in 2014 and beyond. The Nintendo Digital Event will air at 9 a.m. PT on Tuesday, June 10.

Nintendo Treehouse: Live @ E3
This year, Nintendo will offer fans a deeper look at Nintendo's biggest games of E3, with information directly from the source. The "Treehouse," the Product Development department at Nintendo of America, will provide in-depth game demos live and unscripted from Nintendo's booth. This new program will be live streamed during all hours of the E3 show. Fans can get settled in, open their browsers and experience the Nintendo games at E3 like never before.

Super Smash Bros. Smash Fest @ Best Buy
In 2013, Nintendo broke new ground by expanding its E3 activities outside of the walls of the Los Angeles Convention Center and letting fans play some of the games being played on the show floor at participating Best Buy stores. The partnership between Nintendo and Best Buy continues in 2014 and will mark the first time around the world that fans have had the opportunity to get their hands on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

More details about each event, including dates, times, locations and game content will be revealed shortly. To follow all of Nintendo's E3 activities, keep an eye on Nintendo's Facebook page, Twitter feed and YouTube channel. Or visit http://e3.nintendo.com.

Woot! Nintendo. Gotta love them. See anyone like Sony and Microsoft can talk about specs and graphics. Can show you it's apps and interfaces. But Nintendo is just something special. Sure it may not be the one everyone's talking about, but there is no denying that Nintendo stands above it's competition by being itself.

I can't wait to watch that tournament... in Final Destination mode only. ;)

Okay time for me to start making predictions. I'll start with safe ones and make risky ones as I go along.

#1. Shantae Pirate's Curse, Shovel Knight, & TreasureNauts will receive their final release date. Possible "Summer of Indies" promotion.

#2. Smash Bros 3DS release date announced for early to mid July. (I'm guessing July 12)

#3. New experimental platform. Either mobile apps, free to play FB Games, or something. We've heard rumors before, they might make it official.

#4. New IP: While Nintendo could make another Metroid, or an HD pokemon for Wii U, let's be honest they will make some new title and talk about how innovative it is.

#5. Pokemon Fighter: remember that HD Blaziken thing? More info on that.

#6. Reboot of Forgotten IP. Reboot will star Mii's.

I've got to mention how much I love this news that their not doing a conference.
While most people think that's a bad thing, I sort of hate E3(place-wise) since it seems to be a pain(you either have alot of money or semi-famous) to get to, and having a company open their games up to the public like that really makes them look awesome in my mind.

In fact, I vow to not watch Sony's or Microsoft's conference this year, because they're boring pricks who don't do what Nintendo...does.

well, a new trailer for Smash Bros. is almost a given at this rate, but asides from that, a new Metroid would be great, and I'd love to see if SMTxFE is still a thing. Asides from that, I hope Zelda U looks much better than what Skyward Sword ended up being, and a new IP being announced would be swell

Me again. Noticing something here. On April 26, Nerdy Nummies premiered on Nintendo Video, on monday Nintendo's FB also shared a Nerdy Nummies video. Tuesday we had Mega64's Play Nintendo announcement. Today Nintendo sent out NerdyNummies' Mii to my 3DS, had a Mario Kart direct that was very humorous, and it seems GameXplain received some sort of inside scoop of MK8.

So I'm noticing something, NerdyNummies, Mega64, GameXplain... is Nintendo finally embracing youtube? I mean they have used youtubers in past promotions, but with the announcement of MKTV I wonder if it's the start of a new era. After all Game Theory recently released a video explaining how Nintendo's financial decline could be directly related to it's Youtube copyright takedown. So is this it? Will nintendo be on board the stream sharing bandwagon? I hope this is the case.

I saw Disney Infinity's Press conference and I have to say, I'm so glad Nintendo doesn't do conferences at E3 anymore. Don't get me wrong, the conference had it's up moments. But overall it was too lengthy, awkward, and boring.

Though I must say I'm glad to see there will be a plot involved. And glad to see that the old figurines will work with the new version.

Looks like IGN is spreading a rumor that Nintendo will be unveiling new hardware at E3.

Time for another 3DS redesign perhaps?

I really think its this "quality of life" thing they've been talking about for awhile. I also don't think it's totally gaming related either.

Now, I think it'd be really disappointing to see something like that revealed at a gaming place, but they're not in front of a crowd this year, and they could wash out the lame news with a SSB4 trailer.

...On the other hand, it could be nothing. I've heard the rumor started from a source code on the E3 site that said "new Nintendo system", and someone found the same code in the E3 2012 and 2013 sites.

I had the weirdest dream last nite. I was at Disney's epcot chaperoning a field trip for the school I work in. Anyways Nintendo had set up a booth at epcot and it was a Pokemon themed booth. So we are waiting for the event to start, which was aimed at children hence the field trip. As we are waiting, I'm joking with the Pokemon staff, Telling them that the future of Pokemon will be Cyber Punk and the trainers will have light cycles, which explain how a huge bicycle can just disappear at the push of a button. I also tell the staff that I know this will be a teaser reveal, since we are still a month away from E3. So I wasn't expecting much from them except a very short teaser trailer. They had goodies inside closed boxes, Which I joked around saying it was a poster with just the 3 new starters, or maybe a poster of the new region, which I joked would be Aztec Mexico.

Anyways, once my joking ended they actually revealed the new game. It was Pokemon Vs. The Reach. As in DC Comics The reach. From the Blue Beetle Comics. The game was exactly what it sounded like. The Reach has landed in the Pokemon World. And is setting scarabs on trainers and Pokemon alike. So it's up to you to stop them. Also the new trainer had psychic abilities. They didn't mention what it was.

So that's it guys, that was my crazy dream. The lesson learned: Don't eat mexican food before bed. :P Unless you want to have some sort of Pseudo-PreE3 experience. -__-

I love and hate pre E3 dreams :P . Its always weird/fun to see what our minds end up thinking we'll see at this event. Although its a bit crushing when you wake up and realise a new Wave Race didn't just happen :isaac: .
