What do you get when you take an arcade game and cross it with an Acid trip? Whoa Dave replicates the feeling of an early 80's arcade game. Which is nice, cause most indies are trying to replicate the NES.

Whoa Dave! Deluxe

Story: 1/10 Dave is a normal man trying to survive an alien invasion by throwing at them anything he can grab. Well technically there is something else going on. But I'll let you guys figure that out on your own.

Gameplay: 7/10 There isn't much going on. The controls are solid. You walk, jump, and throw stuff. As you progress there are more enemy spawns, thus making the gameplay difficult. Keep surviving for that high score.

Level Design: 5/10 Well there is only one level... But recently we got the "Whoa Dave Deluxe" update which included two new levels. Overall the levels are just okay. They are static screens that don't move. They are truly going back to the basics.

Characters: 1/10 Dave is as one dimensional as they come. We don't know anything about him, or why he does what he does. Again.... there is something else going on. So we do know that thing. But I wont spoil it.

Whoa Dave Deluxe does feature alternate characters. But they all play the same.

Music: 6/10 The music is very catchy and tends to change slightly depending on the on screen action. Nothing major. But I feel they do a good job.

Bosses: ?/10 Whoa Dave has no bosses. But I do believe the "Whoa Dave Deluxe" levels do have bosses. However I'm not sure how to make them appear. So I can't review them due to my sucky ability.

Abilities: 5/10 I already said this: Walk, Jump, throw. That's it. Very basic, but it works cause it's an arcade game.

Replay Value: 8/10 While I don't find myself playing this game for long. I do enjoy this game on the toilet, or any other 5 -10 minute intervals. There doesn't seem to be any unlockables, or story. So it's very pick up and play.

Overall: 6.5/10 In the end, this game is not bad. I like it for what it is. If you love the early arcade era, then this game is for you. The game does not have a lot of content, but it's recent update added some more. So we might see more in the future. Or maybe not. Either way, it's an okay game for what it is.

Houston we have a boss. Okay so to make the Bosses appear you must be playing in a deluxe level, and you must grab 200 coins. Then the boss will appear. As you can see it's a super spaceship with 3 laser cannons. While the boss is out, regular drops are stopped, but anything still on screen remains. The Boss will try to kill you and you must endure. Then it will open up and throw items at you. Pick up the items and strike back.
