Zelda Triforce Heroes Story: 2/10 I said it's a spoiler free review. But honestly, there isn't much to spoil. If you've seen the trailer then you know half the story. The other Half can be easily guessed. Essentially an evil witch cursed a princess to wear an ugly unitard. And now the king is looking for heroes to break the curse. Uninspired. But it's supposed to be a parody. Gameplay: 5/10 The gameplay is okay. Just too linear for a Zelda game. Not very puzzle-y. The challenges themselves come from figuring out how to work as a team. Level Design: 4/10 Like I said before, this game is very linear. No backtracking like in previous zeldas. Instead, you solve a small puzzle, then move to the next area and do another small puzzle. Rinse lather and repeat. The game does have several gimmicks to prevent it from going stale. Overall it's not terrible. Just not great. Characters: 8/10 I'll give it to them. They took their time to give each character a personality. Which is nice. Music: 8/10 The new tracks are good. Very good. But not much Variety. Bosses: 9/10 This game has plenty of bosses. So if you like them, then you are in luck. The bosses are your standard zelda boss. Expose weakness, attack with sword, dodge, repeat. However many of them took the liberty of having two forms. Which is nice. Also the difficulty on them is decent. Abilities: 7/10 You get 8 items to choose from. You have your sword, no shield, and the pegasus shoes. So overall it's not half bad.All 8 items have an upgraded form available if you wear the proper costume. Even the sword and shoes have an upgrade. Of course you only wear one costume at a time, so choose wisely. Replay Value: 6/10 Each of the 32 levels has 3 challenge modes. That equals a total of 128 levels to clear. That is more than enough to keep you coming back for more. Plus there are materials to collect, and suits to unlock. And yet I can't help but feel the game might get old soon. But oh well, there is always online. Overall: 5/10 In the end, this game is good but not great. If you are a hardcore zelda fan, buy it. If you are unsure of this game, then skip it entirely. It's not a terrible game, and I do wish to play it online with friends. But I have to keep my review honest. Overall I did enjoy this game a lot. It just doesn't live up to the Zelda name. GET IN THE BAG NEBBY
|
Nice review Grey! I've been on the edge on if I want to get this game sooner rather than later. It looks fun, but I doubt I'd realistically get to play with friends often. |

DLC Review: First off, this update is Version 2.0. That's right, the first update is not 1.1 or 1.5. This leads me to believe there wont be much DLC support for this game. But whatever. Friendly Tokens: 4/10 First off the ability to get Friendly Tokens at the town square is great. Unfortunately the vendor doesn't sell them every day. And when he does, it's only one at a time. So getting all 8 will take a while. But at least it's now possible to 100% the game. New Costumes:5/10 The new costumes were a nice add. Though I feel they were a little too late. The Linebeck costume would have been great early in the game so I could easily find all the materials to craft the other costumes, but I already unlocked those. The Fierce Deity costume is well worth it, but it's similar to the Sword Master Suit. Similar but not Identical, they do have their own personalities. Den of Trials 8/10 All right this is the big one. I'm normally not a fan of gauntlet challenges. But this did add some much needed replay value to such a short game. I liked how the Den of Trials added new enemies, and new 'Dark' versions of existing enemies. Dark enemies will prevent you from drawing your sword or weapon if they hit you. So approaching them is a challenge. The Den essentially adds zones based on each world. When you clear all of the World Zones you enter the last one, The Baneful zone. This final zone is the home of Dark enemies. In fact, all enemies are dark here. Making this the most challenging zone of all. One bad move could be costly. It ends on a New Secret Boss. I won't spoil, but it was a nice surprise. ![]() Filter Questions: 2/10 This new feature is not bad per se. But I feel It was so unnecessary. I mean it's nice to have, I just don't think it makes much difference. As trolls will still troll. Overall: 4/10 The new features are nice as a free add on, and they do make the whole game a bit better. But in the end, the update by itself is nothing to write home about. |
