Year: 1989 Platform: NES Ah the 90's. Remember going to the Video store and getting a game for the weekend? I sure do. And in my family, no game was rented more than the Adventures of Lolo. So when I bought my Wii U, my mother, yes that's right my mother, immediately asked me to download this classic game so we could relive our glory days as a family. The Adventures of Lolo Gameplay: 8.5/10 It's a top-down perspective puzzle game. So it's kinda like zelda without dungeons, or fighting. Each level has a specific layout and it's your job to collect all the hearts and open a treasure box. Simple enough, but oh so challenging. It is a very rewarding game. Story: 1/10 It's nothing fancy. Princess gets kidnapped by evil king. And now Lolo must rescue her. Evil King=Bad, princess=good. Level Design: 15/10 Sorry for exceeding the 10 but it's amazing what they did with it. All levels are the size of the 4:3 screen. But oh you get so many possibilities. Some are amazingly creative. Characters: 1/10 I'm pretty sure I already said this, Evil King=Bad, princess=good, Lolo=hero. Music: 5/10 I do believe this game only has 3 tracks. And only one of them is played in the levels. So it can get a bit repetive, but never to the point of it being annoying. Bosses: -1/10 I don't wish to spoil it, but this game has exactly one boss. And well... if you play the game you will understand why it's a -1. Abilities: 4/10 Well he can walk, push blocks, and shoot a limited number of eggs. He also gets some power ups involving bridges and arrows. Replay Value: 8/10 The game has a lot of replay value. I just wish you could select each specific level. But overall it's very fun. Overall: 8.5/10 Once you get used to the basics, this game is quite enjoyable. What am I saying, it's super addicting. And you find it hard to stop, even if you spend 2 hours on one level. Did it age well? Absolutely. The game is as fun now as it was back then. And save states make it a tad bit more enjoyable. Where can I play this today? The Adventures of Lolo is available on Virtual Console for 3DS, Wii, & Wii U for the low price of $4.99. Edited by Greymon57, Sep 15 2016, 12:28 PM.

Nice review Grey! I'm a sucker for puzzle games, so I'll try checking this out if I ever have the spare time. |
