Eh, I'd probably be more crititical if I had enjoyed more than one of their E3 events, that one being 2010's, maybe 2014 if I'm in a good mood. Everything else I've seen was pretty bleak and boring. Still better than Sony's borefests though, Microsoft might just be better but for the wrong reasons.

Here is the full press release

Quote:

Nintendo will transform its booth at the E3 video game trade show next month in Los Angeles to immerse fans in the world of the newest game in The Legend of Zelda franchise – playable for the first time ever at the show. To ensure attendees are able to truly experience the freedom of exploration the game offers, The Legend of Zelda for Wii U will be Nintendo’s focus of the show this year, and will be the only playable game in Nintendo’s booth via extended demos.

Nintendo’s kickoff to the E3 show happens at 9 a.m. PT Tuesday, June 14, when Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime introduces Nintendo Treehouse: Live, which will be dedicated to a day of live-streamed gameplay of The Legend of Zelda. (Graphic: Business Wire)

“At E3 this year, we’re treating people to an immersive Zelda experience,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “By giving attendees extended hands-on time with this remarkable game, they’ll be able to get a much deeper understanding of something new for the franchise.”

This will be the world’s first in-depth look at the game, which will also include commentaries by Nintendo developers. The Legend of Zelda gameplay will be streamed from the E3 show floor via Nintendo’s channels on YouTube and Twitch, as well as on http://e3.nintendo.com. The stream will include game coverage, behind-the-scenes info and plenty of fun.

Series Producer Eiji Aonuma has said that this new installment in The Legend of Zelda franchise will be a clean break from the conventions of previous games, removing boundaries that forced players to follow a set path and introducing new gameplay that has not been experienced in previous games in the series.

While people everywhere will be able to watch The Legend of Zelda gameplay online, one lucky fan and a companion will be flown to Los Angeles to enjoy the action in person and be among the first to play the game on the show floor. Between now and May 10, Nintendo is offering a sweepstakes on Twitter for a chance to win a trip for two to E3 to play the game. Anyone who tweets @NintendoAmerica a note about what The Legend of Zelda series means to them while using the hashtags #MyZeldaLegend and #NintendoSweepstakes will be entered for a chance to win. Fans can share messages about their favorite games, characters or memories of the franchise. Nintendo will select a winner at random. The prize package includes airfare for two, a hotel stay, tickets to E3, a $500 prepaid VISA debit card. For all the details about the sweepstakes, visit http://e3.nintendo.com/#section-sweepstakes.

To stay informed about Nintendo’s presence at E3, visit http://e3.nintendo.com.

Nintendo has been slowing down on E3 alot these past few years. Directs are pretty much mini E3s anyways, just sprinkled throughout the year.

I feel like the lack of content at this E3 further confirms that NX was not supposed to be delayed to 2017.

I'm surprised though they aren't showing other titles like Paper Mario, or 3rd party stuff, or even Pokemon. I wonder why those aren't getting much footage?

Oh well, I'm actually super excited for Zelda, so I can't wait to see it. :pacman:

Indeed, makes me wonder if they'll have a direct around then, or perhaps they are planning their own event to show off their games.

I'm just hoping they will do Wii U demos like last year. Even if it is just a Zelda U demo.

It's possible, but I figure if they did they would have said as much with the Zelda treehouse announcement yeah?

I think having their own event makes a lot more sense, as it would give them less reason to be at E3 in the following years as well, which Nintendo seems to be distancing themselves from for whatever reason.

E3 overall seems to be really slowing down this year. Aren't there a number of big companies that aren't showing up this year? I wonder if its a sign of things to come in future years.

Is that right? I've read a few things alluding to that, but I wasn't sure if it was an actual reality. It would be a very interesting turn for E3 I imagine, I wonder why that's the guess. I suppose E3 may have gotten too big for its own good?

Well I've read that EA, Activision, and Disney won't have a booth this year. I think I heard EA is even holding their own solo event on the same days as E3, and that it's open to the public. It'll be interesting to see if more companies follow that lead and start holding their own events, or if EA and co will be back at E3 next year.

Interesting. I wonder why so many are pulling out. I suppose with so many big companies there it costs a lot of money, and often stuff showed is overshadowed by other stuff. Will be very interesting to see how E3 goes in the next few years.

The Legend of Zelda

Nintendo will transform its booth at this year’s E3 to immerse fans in the world of the groundbreaking new Legend of Zelda game for the Wii U™ console.

Not headed to E3?

You’re invited to share in the excitement by following along online here as new gameplay is unveiled for the first time anywhere.

Nintendo @ E3 starts at 9 a.m. PT on Tuesday, June 14.

Tune in starting at 9 a.m. PT for the world’s first in-depth look at the new Legend of Zelda game.

The day’s events will kick off with livestreamed gameplay and behind-the-scenes info from the game experts of Nintendo Treehouse—live and unscripted from the show floor.

Still sad that all we are getting is Zelda info this year. Hopefully we won't have to wait long for the NX reveal.

Dang that's only 20ish days away. I'm actually quite excited for Zelda, despite the disappointment for everything else. Hope they go all out with it and have like Aonuma there to talk about it.

Should we maybe make predictions of what we expect to see at the show?

Here are mine:

#1. Zelda Wii U trailer
#2. Zelda Wii U Screenshots
#3. Zelda Wii U Footage
#4. Zelda Wii U Gameplay
#5. Zelda Wii U Developer Talks
#6. Moar Cellduh We yoUUUUUUU.

No but seriously should we make predictions about E3 in general?

Microsoft: Probably will have some sports game announced and have some athlete present it. I haven't watched a Microsoft conference in years so idk :P .

Sony: Kingdom Hearts 3 footage hopefully. Maybe they'll announce something for the Vita, or not :P . I'm sure they'll reveal the PS4K too.

TGNGirl. Wait what
I predict:
Nintendo:
Nintendo still partners with Best Buy so non-e3 attenders can play the shitty Wii U port of Zelda U NX.
Some moron on the internet will think there will still be Smash dlc announced.

Playstation:
For the third year in a row, Sony uses e3 time to promote their un-gaming forms of entertainment, being the Sly movie.
Since its Sly and not a shitty live action show like Powers, nobody complains, except about Sly's voice change because fucking hollywood.
They finally announce Santa Monica Studios is done with ports and shit prequels and reveal God of War 4.
Microsoft:
Conference 2 in a row without kinect games.
Activision:
New trailer for Infinity Warfare. Gets over 400,000 dislikes on youtube.
EA:
New trailer for Battlefield One. Gets over 400,000 likes on youtube.

In a terrible spin off series, yes.
