Affordable Space Adventures Story: 8/10 It's hard to talk about the story without spoiling everything but I'll try my best. U-explore is a travel agency for interstellar travel. Recently they rolled out their new Small Craft program. Essentially they have a ton of small space ships aboard a mother ship. The mothership will unleash the tourist's small craft onto the Planet Spectaculon, and you get 72 hours to explore the planet before being picked up. The plot is explained thru several "promotional videos" and "tech support". While the plot is not very deep, I love the way in which the game tells the story. It is definitely very original. And the ending was just perfect for this type of game. Gameplay: 9/10 It's hard to explain this game. The best way would be a Stealth/Platformer/Puzzle game based around motor mechanics. Yeah I know, trust me the game is weirder than that. You start with limited features on your small craft and as you continue you get to unlock more. The new abilities are then used to explore and solve the puzzles around you. And yes there are tons of puzzles. Most puzzles are sensor based. There will be sensors measuring heat, electricity and/or sound. You must figure out how to move past them undetected. Some really make you scratch your head and go "how the heck am I supposed to get around this." There is a lot of trial and error. But when you figure it out, you feel like the man. ![]() You are also giving the chance to divide up controls among 3 players. Not sure why, I guess the added challenge. Level Design: 10/10 The level design is like a Metroid / Limbo fusion. A lot of nature and corridors, very dark with limited light. Makes it scary to see what is around the corner. The game has it's usual video game tropes when it comes to level design. Grass level, water level, Cave, fire, ice, Scary dungeon. And yet the puzzles are adequate to fit the feel for each level. Characters: 3/10 This is one of those weird games that has no characters and yet it does. It's hard to explain. The most notable characters are the Uexplore Safety Director, and whoever is driving the small craft. Even then there are many unseen and unnamed characters. Again it's hard to explain. I guess it's more like implied characters that we never see or hear about. Music: 3/10 While there is no music, there are many ambience sounds. And they really help bring the world alive. So again, no real music. Bosses: 2/10 As far as I could tell, there was only one boss. And that's assuming it counted as a boss. Since it was still technically a puzzle. Yet it was a neat little puzzle. Still the game has no real boss fights, or fights in general. Abilities: 10/10 Here is where the game shines. You have your flashlight & scanner, landing gears, heating vents, anti-gravity, stabilizers, Mass Control, decelerator, two motor types, thrust, horn and a few other small things. Most of these features can be customized. So you can increase or decrease their efficiency to best fit the puzzle. Replay Value: 7/10 I can really see myself coming back to this one, either alone or with friends. It really is a unique game that actually feels fun. It also has two difficulty settings, and five bonus Extra Hard levels. Overall: 10/10 Despite all it's short comings this game delivers big time. It's unique mechanics and gameplay style really do shine. I actually felt hooked on this game during my first playthrough. And even though I failed tons of times, it was never annoying or discouraging. It just made me want to try harder. It really is a game I recommend to everyone. I look forward to any future games that this developer releases. But for now, I'll continue exploring anything I might have missed. Safe Travels. Edited by Greymon57, Sep 15 2016, 12:09 PM.

Likewise. I had heard great things of this game and yet I thought it wasn't for me. Once I began playing it, I realized how wrong I was. This is the game I didn't know I wanted. |
