Game: Muri Year: 2013 Platform: Steam So Slap City is to Ludosity what Smash Bros is to Nintendo. An all star mascot fighter. So with the passing of time I like to wonder, who else will make it to Slap City. So I picked out the game Muri as it has a very likely candidate in Adwoa. Muri Story: 7.5/10 I give them credit for trying to make a story that has depth. Essentially, after a science experiment gone wrong the human colony on some foreign planet goes berserk and turns its robots against mankind. The scientist responsible now must make things right by fixing her mistakes. However along the way she realizes there is a high prize to pay... Gameplay: 10/10 The gameplay is simple yet satisfactory. It's a Platform shooter inspired by DOS games. You go around a facility shooting enemies and collecting items as you seek the end of the level. Clear it then do it all over again. Collect ammo and fight the boss at the end of each world. Level Design: 7.5/10 The levels are all thoughtfully designed. Have a variety of different gimmicks and difficulties. Tons of secret passages. Some are straightforward, others are more maze like. Characters: 9/10 Adwoa is a Scientist who in pursuit of creating a better world, ends up dooming it all together. We get to her struggle in a story that goes from Bad to worst as she tries to save both her family and herself. The relationships with her family are all complicated and tragic. They really took their time to flesh out this family. Music: 0/10 Other than the title theme there really isn't much music here. Bosses 7/10 While clever the bosses don't put up much of a fight. Then again there are more difficulties available. And the bosses towards the end are more difficult. Abilities: 8/10 You get 6 weapons to choose from, Standard, rapid fire, Spread, Lazer, rocket, and Crazy OP Power Shot. You can also damage enemies by jumping on them Mario style. Replay Value: 5/10 The game is short, very short. Despite being good. Not really much for a revisit, unless you want that perfect score. Average Sum: 6.8/10 Overall Experience: 6.5/10 The game has many High notes, but it's short and doesn't offer much other than a good hour. I say pick it up when it's on sale, otherwise not much else here. |
