The Engine

A manifesto is supposed to be a statement of goals motives and opinions so lets get to stating shall we? Takigakure is a game based in the Eclipse Worlds engine, the engine has been somewhat modified to make the roleplaying experience more convenient, but that's not what you're really interested in is it? The engine isn't the part of this game that should interest you, it is a Roleplay game after all your imagination is the greatest engine ever created, and we're about to put it to some work!.

The setting

The game is placed in the Village hidden by the Waterfall, a canon village that has been mentioned a decent amount of times in the manga( Most notably by being the village from which Kakuzu and the Seven tails came from) but was never really elaborated upon. This is the biggest reason we chose it as our setting, since this allows for a great deal of freedom while also getting that warm and fuzzy nostalgic feeling. Most RP games decide to stick to the Great villages such as Konoha or Iwa, but those villages come with a great deal of baggage, and lets be honest those villages already had their story told, while Taki is a mystery.

Roleplay and Progression

Enough about the setting lets talk about the actual roleplay itself. Takigakure is meant to be an exciting roleplaying experience that prioritizes having fun over anything else. To further elaborate on what I mean by that let me ask you a question: How many times have you had to write long and boring logs every day, or every week just to progress and keep up with everybody else? If you ever played a game of this type its almost certain that you spent plenty of time doing just that. I'll speak from my own experience and say that I almost always found the first couple of weeks the most entertaining when a new wipe started, since progression was usually frozen and people didn't really have to train yet, I just wanted to have fun RPing, not write out two thousand words every day just to keep up with my peers. Truth be told I could have just ignored it and RP-ed without gaining any power, but that isn't always fun, sometimes you want to see how your character grows stronger both in spirit and in body, but sacrificing your own precious time by writing out logs you really don't want to write out isn't what RP is supposed to be about. I'm a firm believer that everything you do in a game is supposed to be fun, that's what games are for.... having fun ! If I wanted to write out giant pages of text I'd go translate the bible into swahili or something.....or do what I'm doing now. But that's fine, since me doing this now will save you guys from having to do it later on, taking one for the team as they say it.

Now while it would be great if we could all be the same, it would also be extremely boring so I can't let all of you guys just do nothing and progress....but I can damn well make it fun. The way you progress in our game is by doing what you came here to do.... roleplay. Every week you post a couple of RP interactions you think were the highlight of that week( We'll post a cap on how many you can post, so it doesn't turn into an arms race ) and we'll grade them. I'll keep the way of grading a secret for now and explain it in another post later on, but its safe to say that the pure quality of your RP isn't going to be the biggest part of the grade. Its sounds a bit weird doesn't it, having the quality not be the priority but don't shit yourself just yet, hear me out. Having quality RP is fine, but sometimes it goes too far, to the point where RP's become a shitfest of thesaurus words and throws away clarity for the sake of sounding like a librarian on drugs. Instead we will use investment, interaction and just how well you showcase your character as the biggest part of the grade ( This doesn't mean drama lama's will get preferred treatment... just the opposite ). Quality RP will still be rewarded with clarity and personalization being heavily encouraged.

Wrapping it up

The game will feature a Perk system that won't resemble much of what you might remember from BYOND and other such platforms, meaning we did a complete overhaul on the system. It will all be explained in a separate post. So yea, that's about it, if you have any more questions don't be afraid to ask in the appropriate forum (Questions & Answers) and remember IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE FUN.
