Hey guys. Based on recent events, some of the senior staff members and I have decided that it's time to start trimming the fat in an attempt to boost stream quality. The introduction of the "rules" (guidelines) was the first step in this process. The next step is to increase the overall quality of the stream itself, and the only way to do this is to increase the quality that's expected of our streamers. Effective immediately, stream 1's password has been changed, and its stream key will be reset. Please read: this is only something that will be affecting stream 1; stream 2 and trial will maintain status quo. From now on, streamers on stream 1 will need to adhere to the following guidelines: - Streamers require a mic. If you break your mic, you don't stream. Extreme background noise is also not attractive (make use of the noise cancellation/voice detection features in XSplit). - Recommended stream resolution should be 640x360 for 16:9 and 640x480 for 4:3. Match your broadcast aspect ratio to the ratio of your source (ie: anything on your PC is probably going to be 16:9. Anything emulated or put through an older console is going to be 4:3). With that said, I would recommend sticking to these resolutions for simplicity, and because I doubt many viewers use fullscreen. The best way to get high quality video is to only broadcast at the resolution you require (ie: the size of the stream embedded on the page) and to boost the bandwidth. This allows bandwidth to be put towards image quality as opposed to image size (which is inconsequential for the most part anyway). This post is not meant to pick on anyone in particular, which is why it applies to all streamers for the time being. The goal of this change is to make main streaming rights more exclusive, as some of us feel that streamer selection has become much less restrictive, which has lead to a general decrease in stream quality. From here, selection for stream rights on stream 1 will be given out when myself and a few others feel it is appropriate, and although it sucks, previous streaming rights does not entitle anyone to streaming rights in the future. It's just something we have to do. If you are still interested in main stream rights, I require that you post in the following thread, which also means that you're required to have a forum account: http://w11.zetaboards.com/Team_Swift_Streaman/topic/8219101/1 |
