Team MetaSwappers (TMSwap) is an amateur League of Legends team. We are quite special about the way we look at the game as a whole. You see, we don't always play conventionally, as in, "by the rules". Normally, when you think of a normal game of League of Legends, you picture an all-around fighter top laner, a jungler, usually tanky, an assassin mid laner, either AP or AD, and a bot lane that consists of a low durability damage dealer, known as an "ad carry", and someone who brings utility to the team, helps them stay alive, etc, named "support". This is a pretty ideal scenario, which is why pro team always use this setup. The problem comes when the amateur players start to think that is the only way to play the game, the only metagame you can follow. In fact, there are many different ways to play other than the above stated. For example, let me just say what comes out of my mind: you could make a metagame with the following roles: - Top lane: Consists of a hybrid carry (someone who specializes in building both AD, AP and attack speed, because they scale well off those stats) and a support, with a similar role to the support mentioned earlier - Mid lane: One single role, named the "roamer", simply pushes the lane and ganks other lanes while it's pushed. They can basically build anything, but need both cc and pushing capabilities - Bot lane: A burst assassin, who takes most of the minion last hits, and a tank, meant to protect him in the laning phase, and the whole team when the laning phase is over. See? Simple. A new metagame. Now does this even work? Can you even win a game with this setup? Well, I don't know. This metagame, which since I'm not feeling creative I'm going to call the "example" metagame, would have to be tested, some things would need to be adjusted, or changed, until we have something that actually works. I would also like to refer to those people that say they are "breaking the metagame" or that they are "creating a new metagame". No. If you're playing something like Sona ADC, you aren't desinging a new metagame, because you are playing an ADC in the bot lane (and a pretty bad one if you ask me). Some people tend to think that the metagame is what fits in a role (playing Ezreal or Caitlyn as ADC) when in fact, the existance of the role "ADC" determines that you are playing a one metagame. In order to clarify this, let me define "metagame": "Given a game, a metagame is a particular resource management pattern used to win it". Team MetaSwappers (TMSwap) is a team that accepts the existance of a generalized metagame, which we will call the "standard" metagame, but consistently challenges it, coming up with new strategies and metagames that allow a variety of different ways to play the game. And while it does, it does not account for the people who play silly champions on silly roles, because a metagame needs to be organized, and if you're the only person playing a silly champion on a silly role, you aren't even playing a metagame; you are playing a game without a clue. As another disclaimer, we do play Standard games, but we just recognize that it's not the only way to play. We treat it as "just another metagame". If you want to join, you're expected to have some knowledge of the game. I'm not going to be a dick and say you need to be a certain division/tier, but you do need to be level 30, just because of the mastery system. And also, if you're not level 30 yet then you're probably still learning some aspects of the game. Be patient. Edited by Vermia, Jan 22 2014, 03:05 PM.
