Or 'embellishing', or 'sprucing up' if you will... Have you ever considered and/or done it? How did it work out for you? Oh, and the big one, has anyone been caught out in a big way? I've definitely considered it as things have gotten harder on the job market in the past, b ut never actually went through with it (because I'm a wuss.) |

I've never applied for a job, but I wouldn't lie when I do. If they thoroughly check you out and find that was a lie, then you just lost your shot. I wouldn't risk it. |

Will you be applying for your first job soon? You'll see very quickly how competitive it can be when you do. |

When I applied at Burger King (second job, had just quit Wendy's a few weeks earlier), they barely even looked at my application. In fact, I got the job after my first interview which was the same day I turned in my application. No reference checks, didn't check with my previous employer, nothing. I say that to say that it's a good thing they didn't, because Wendy's probably wouldn't have given me a very good reference since I quit on rather short notice (2 hours notice instead of the 2 weeks they wanted). haha. |

Eh, possibly. It just depends. I haven't decided. I'm mowing my grandma's lawn as it is, but that's not really a job I applied for. If I don't end up playing soccer this fall, (which I'm indecisive about), then I'll have to get a job... those were my two options :srsly: But regardless of how competitive the job market is, I don't see myself lying on an application.

Lying on a resume or CV is actually a criminal offence (fraud), and should you get the job after lying then you could be charged should your employer find out. It could also be considered to be obtaining money by deceit. Not to mention, people who didn't get the job could also potentially sue you. Not a good idea IMO.

I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.

None of the jobs I've applied for require a resume. I can understand the appeal when you're trying to get a job and have zero experience, but I would be too nervous to lie. I would just be to the point in the interview. |
