I've homeschooled my child since she was three years old. The thing that i enjoy most about homeschooling is the time we share together during the day. As a stay at home mom, it's lonely when the house is empty. So having her around is very good company and we share a nice bond because of it. There are many misconceptions about home schooled children including how most are shut ins and have no friends and that's not true. My daughter is a very social person and makes friends easily and gets out to the park regularly where she plays with children her own age (as well as children of various age ranges). Learning is a constant thing in my home, not just set to specific hours. Though we do have regular lessons to cover the essentials as well as reading time. Do you homeschool? Or, were you homeschooled? |

From my experiences at a young age homeschooling is fine. It's the later years when they're into their teens that I feel students lack some social experience. That said it's not something that can't be fixed in years to come. It's just that middle and high school are both such huge places that students really learn how to interact and how they handle being around so many people for so long. |

I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.

My niece and nephew are home schooled, but that's only because my nephew has a medical problem that requires regulated temperature at all times and the schools in my town aren't equipped for that. I personally would not home school my child unless there were extenuating circumstances. I wouldn't want my child to miss out on the social skills we develop in a school environment. I also think it's nice for kids to be able to separate their school environment and the home environment. I'm also probably not qualified at all to teach. It just seems like the better option all around for me. :] |

I don't have kids, but when I do, I wouldn't want to home school them. I'd like them to be able to be involved with other kids their age, and I think homeschooling would really make that social interaction very difficult and strenuous. |

My wife is very career focussed and so am I. Though, my wife is a stay at home Mum for the moment until our daughter is old enough to go to school. Then she'll probably look for something in her field that works with school hours. Nothing against homeschooling, but it's not our thought. |
