The war rages on
So many lives lost
Where is the limit
To an unbearable cost?

At which point do you stop
And think about why
All of these young soldiers
Are going to die?

Is it pure avarice
Or maybe something more
To justify this blood price
Which has begun to soar?

What if today is my day
My last, final fight
Can I confidently say
I will be here tonight?

Am I just another statistic
On some general's wall?

Was it really that pointless
for me to "answer the call"?

that was beautiful. I will not rate it for the fear of putting a lid on it in my mind
