THIS TUTORIAL IS FEATURED ON THE MICRO-HEROES WIKI. -> TAKE A LOOK AT IT. First, I need to know if you can download and install programs in the PC you're using. If you can... good. Listen to the tutorial. If not... then you'll have to paint the background with the same color of the board you're in. (good luck) Let's go: If you read the BMP/GIF/PNG/JPG Difference tutorial, you know that the best format to save micros is GIF. And there I said many times about transparency. Transparency? "Why micros should be transparent?" No... micros should not be transparent. It's the background around them that should be transparent. And the background around them should be transparent to make micros adaptable to every place they stand. This way, a micro looks good in a board who uses light background and looks good in a board who uses a dark background. Got it? "I got it. How I do that in Paint?" The thing is... Dude! You cannot do that in paint! "But I can oly do micros in Paint!" Good... me too. But I don't save them as GIF, only BMP. "And how you make them transparent, your son of a..." Calm down. Listen to the tutorial, dude. (I know... I watched too much Bill & Ted... Bogus!) So I'll explain how to convert BMP to GIF, applying transparency. First thing, you must have finished your micro in Paint. Then... WAIT! Do not save as GIF there! Is dangerous. Only save as BMP. Another program will do the dirty job. In the file on Paint, make only your micro appear. Move the edges of the screen to the edges of the micro. (You can also let 1 pixel in every side... some people, like me, do that) And then, you paint the "background" with a colour that doesn't exists on the micro itself. (Pink is my choice...) So, your BMP file will probably look like that: Posted Image Don't forget to fill every "blank" space with the background colour. Every pixel painted with that colour will be transparent soon. Now all you need is a program that convert BMP to GIF. I suggest you GIFFY. (DOWNLOAD IT ON THIS LINK) Posted Image Giffy 2.0 screen, with a micro open With Giffy in hands, click "Load BMP", and open your "done micro". It'll appear on the screen. Now click on the checkbox that says "Transparent" and click on the colour you painted the background. The colour selected will appear in a box below the checkbox. (I know.. lots of boxes...) Finishing, click on the "Save GIF" button, and save it! Now you have a transparent micro! Posted Image Looks goofy, but this thing I teached you, can "separate the men from the boys"! :D |
