[p]Adaline had one hand outstretched in front of her, while one book after the other was levitated from the shelf onto a stack she was holding in her other arm.She walked from the bookshelf over to a small table standing near one of the grand windows. She put the stack of books on it's surface and sat herself down in the chair standing in front of it.[/p][p]She picked the first book from the stack and opened it. It was a book about a difficult kind of magic, called Ianuae Magicaeor better know as teleportation magic. She briefly read through the table of content before flipping to the sixth chapter: ομάδα τηλεμεταφορά it read, which meant group teleportation in English. Carefully she read through the chapter, which was written in old Greek, trying to understand what she had done wrong the day. Yesterday she had tried to teleport a group of people from one side of the room to the other, but she horribly failed. In the end she was the only one who got teleported, while the rest was still standing in the same spot as before.[/p][p]Adeline turned another page and continued to read.[/p] ![]() |

When John noticed the half-open door of the library he peeked around the corner. He saw Adeline sitting there alone and walked towards her. ''Adeline.. Always with her nose in the books..'' John commented while he was flipping through the pages of the books Adeline was reading. ''So.. Since I can't speak nor read alien.. I'll have to ask you what so intresting is about these books..'' he said while he put the books back on the table and sat down in the chair across her. He stretched his back and yawned. ''By the way, I dig the hairstyle!'' he said while he nodded towards her messy morning coupe and winked. He put the newspaper he had brought with him in front of him and flipped till he was at the page with the puzzles. ''I was planning on finishing this one in my own room, but I can't say no to good company like Adeline..'' he said while he grabbed a pen.

[p]Adaline was just in the middle of an interesting part when John made her jump a little. She looked into his direction with a surprised smile on her face. "And there is nothing wrong with that. Books are good fun." she answered while gazing in disbelieve to how brutally he was flipping through those books, some of them where hundreds of years old.[/p][p]Her lips curled up in a smile, but she contained a giggle. "That is old Greek," she told him, "I am trying to discover what I did wrong yesterday, when I tried to teleport you and the others to the other side of the room". She followed him with her eyes, around the table, to the chair where he took a seat. She ran her hand through her hair, "Yeah, well, I had an early rise this morning and I just couldn't be bothered." she answered, "But, thanks".[/p][p]She pulled the book closer to herself, seeing as John put a newspaper at the other side of the table. "Great" she said sarcastically while she couldn't contain a smile. "But if you don't mind, I'd like to finish this chapter" she said, "and don't you dare to distract me." she added while making a face and pointing her finger playfully in his direction.[/p] ![]() |

''I wouldn't dare!'', John answered with a big smile, not looking up from the newspaper. ''But I wouldn't call it a failure, at least you succeeded to teleport yourself, I still lose one of my eyebrows occasionally..'' he said while he scrabbled something in the crosswordpuzzle. John had a very poor handwriting and a stranger could probably barely read it. '''When are you planning to try again?'', he asked. ''Maybe you should try a smaller group, two or three heads extra, but I guess you're just too ambitious for considering that..'' he said while he looked up from the newspaper and smiled at her. ''Adeline, I'm saying this to you as a friend, but you work real hard, maybe you should take a day of.. Visit the London Eye or something irrelevant like that, just to relax, maybe go to a bar or something.. You know?'' he suggested while he put his hand on hers for a moment to draw her attention. ''I'll join you happily, by the way''.

[p]Adaline had just started on the next paragraph when John started to talk again, as if he hadn't heard her. She looked up from her book, considering his words. "I know.." she answered with a weak smile.[/p][p]She continued to stare at a drawing next to the text. It showed barbaric drawings of people who had accidentally teleported only the heads of a group, or only their arms. "After I've discovered what I did wrong." she answered. She read the next paragraph and ignored him for a while. She read about Aeschylus Denetrios, a man who lived in Athene and who managed to teleport an entire arena filled with people from one part of the city to the other. The people in the arena hadn't noticed anything while they were paying attention to the fight that was taking place there, after a few minutes he had teleported the whole arena and its ten thousand spectators back to its original location.[/p][p]She looked up from her book and dismissed his proposal with a wave of her hand. "No, no," she started, "I've got lots to do". She looked back to her book when he suggested he could come to, trying to contain a smile. "Maybe another day" she replied.[/p][p]While she turned the page to continue reading she peeked at what John was doing. She couldn't read a word of what he was writing down. "Doing a crossword in alien too?" she said jokingly. Adaline closed the book she was reading and took another from the stack next to her. "Any plans for today?" she asked while putting the book in front of her and opening it at a random page.[/p] ![]() |

''Yikes.. What happened to those guys?'', John asked and pointed at a drawing in a book Adeline was reading. ''You're not gonna do that to us, right?'' he said while he inspected the barbaric drawing. He continued with his crosswordpuzzle, till Adeline made a note on his handwriting. He looked up and laughed for a moment. John rised his eyebrows. ''What? There is nothing wrong with my handwriting?'' he said indignantly and pointed to the newspaper. ''Okay.. Well.. It's not perfect, I guess..'' he smiled when he took a closer look. He put the newspaper away and leaned his chin on his handpalm. ''Well.. Since you ditched my proposal.. I think I will be training.. And I guess I have to go to the market - I dont know if you've seen - or rather heard - Mearwynn this morning, making some breakfast.. It was a freaking fiësta with croissonts and omelettes flying everywhere. If she's planning to turn the diningroom into a tornado every morning, whe have to stock some food.'' he joked. John is a person who get's bored pretty quickly and can't stay inside for too long. He spends most of his time training in the combat room on his own, chatting and annoying other people, or just in a bar in London; pooling and drink a beer. ''So yeah.. Market it is! I'm getting sick and tired of all the rabbit food everybody's getting, so I'm gonna stock some pie. Sure you dont want to join?''

[p]Adaline looked at John while he was talking. After all this time she still wasn't quite sure what to make of him. "I saw the after match when I came in." she answered, "fortunately I'm not the one who had to clean it."[/p][p]She flipped a bit through the book, not really paying attention to any of the pages. "Yes I am sure, John," she started, "As I said I've got lots to do and I won't be leaving this library before I have discovered what I did wrong." Maybe she did like to join him, but sometimes you've got to contain yourself and not do what is fun, but do what needs to be done.[/p][p]She took the two books from the table and walked over the the bookshelf they belonged. With a small movement of her hand the books levitated from her arms and flew up, higher and higher to the top shelf. She moved the books back to their place and walked over to another bookshelf. "I'm sure you can entertain yourself just fine" she said teasingly.[/p] ![]() |

''Hell yeah, I can entertain myself just fine.. It's just that it's important to enjoy the moment sometimes, and you're just always busy with The Institute..'' he answered with a slightly worried undertone, but then manned up. He cleared his voice quickly. ''That sounded really cheesy, but I'm serious'', he added. John often acted very tough, but he did in fact care a lot about some people in the Institute. Not in a romantic way but in a friendly way, what he didn't often show. ''Just make sure.. to spent some time on something else than the Institute, heck, you deserve a vacation for all the work you did here'', he added. He could not help but getting annoyed, because of the tone he was speaking, so he immediately cleared his throat again and added ''Nevermind'' and continued with finishing the crossword puzzle.

[p]Adaline didn't want to discuss the matter anymore. Yes, sometimes she was a bit of a party pooper and she knew that, but still she denied his proposals over and over again.[/p][p]She snapped her fingers and three books came flying down from the shelves. She caught them in mid air and walked back to where John was continuing his crossword. She put the stack on the table and seated herself down. Carefully she picked the top book from the stack, sure not to damage it. The title read ergo ex hoc in illud or in english from here to there it was another book about teleportation magic, this one written by a certain mister Anaxagoras. She opened the book on the table of contents page and read what the book was about.[/p][p]In the middle of a sentence she looked up to John, still not sure what to make of him. Was he disappointed that she couldn't come? Or was he just trying to be nice and didn't really care if she came with him or not? It honestly didn't matter, but she was still curious enough to want to know.[/p] ![]() |

John noticed she wasn't in the mood to chit-chat so he said nothing for a while and continued with making the puzzle, but his eyes fell on a article about a boy who blew something up, according to witnesses, without any tools. He scanned the article with his eyes. ''Well, I think I got a case.. This kid blew a car up after his girlfriend broke up.. He lives in Oxford..'', he said while he shove the newspaper to her side of the table. ''That's not too far from here.. I'll send him a message and have a talk.. Maybe it's not our thing, maybe it is.. But I suppose it is..'', he continued.
