![]() An unfortunate accident It was the middle of the night, everyone- or so Maerwynn thought- was vast asleep. The whole Institution was dark, but the small crack of the library door illuminated the corridor outside. Maerwynn sat inside the library and was silently picking a book from one of the bookcases in the far back of the library, some of the books here weren't touch for over a century. She had always been fascinated by dark magic, not because she wanted to do evil things with it or abuse her powers, but because of their difficulty. Dark magic was much complexer than other forms of magic and it was a real challenge to perform a spell or curse. When she had found the book she had been looking for she walked over to the only light source in the room, a small oil lantern she had put on one of the desks. She blew the dust from the book its cover and put it down on the table. The cover of the book was alluring. A parchment binding on which the title and its contents were written by hand. "Hmm" she groaned to herself, "where is it," she said while she carefully opened the book. Her eyes scanned the page, reading the long-dead-languages written in them, discovering the secrets hidden within the pages and the powers it contained. "Fascinating" she mumbled, lost in the pages and completely unaware of her surroundings. ![]() |
