alright, this is the thread for the Mythology. now, i know some people wont like it, some people wont use it, but i personally love it and it draws me more into the game. this thread is for people like me, it is absolutely NOT necessary to like or play in with the mythos and history, but i encourage it.

in this thread we can discuss the mythology, we can make it more extensive, see which parts are good and what is not, and create a living breathing world for us all to play in. i will put whatever i've written down so far in here, and we can go from there, good?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

there are five great gods;
The goddess of light and sea : Leawa
the goddess of death and ice : Mortis
the god of chaos and fire : Criom
the god of life and air : Flora
and the god of wisdom and stone : Knox

the god of wisdom organized all the others to create what we now see.
the goddess of death created dragons, to rule the land and see all for her.
the god of life worked on making trees, grass, and eventually small creatures. allowing them to roam the land that they had all created
the goddess of light created the sea, taking up most of the world, and then began working with the god of life to populate it.
the god of chaos worked on the wastelands, turning pieces of the god of life’s area barren and near impossible to live in, creating the great lava lakes, and deserts.
meanwhile, the god of wisdom was following the others progress quite closely, giving sentience to the animals of the god of life, and hyper-intelligence in the goddess of deaths dragons.
the goddess of light, and the god of life became lovers, they created humans together.

dragons, watching from their perch viewed humans rise, they saw them begin to form tribes and mate. knowing that humans would quickly become the most populous species on the planet, the dragons spoke to their goddess of death, and told her their thoughts.
over time, dragons had slowed their breeding, they were dying. becoming infertile. as humans became nomads, and started setting up towns, the last generation of dragons was born. there was only three, the wisest of which was named Rasper. he called the other two, and summoned their goddess.
the three dragons had decided that their time was up, they wished to leave the plain of existence. however, they saw the abilities of the humans, saw what they could do. they wished for the goddess of death to adopt a portion of humans as her own, with their dying wish, she agreed.
the three stood together when they decided their time was up, they let out a mighty roar that could be heard all over the world, and two of the three died with that. the third, Rasper, was confused.
why didn’t he die? he had let out his death roar. he was ready to die. he noticed his scales, formerly a majestic red, an inky black was creeping over his scales, encasing him.

the god of chaos had heard of what was happening, he knew the dragons were going to die and so he decided to steal one as his own. he took the wisest dragon, and snuck him off to the void, 'the end' land of the mysterious Ender men, ender men simply existed, they were created by no god and had no goal. but the god of chaos wanted to control them, wanted an army of them for his own.
he devised a way, he killed and maimed hundreds of ender men, learning how they worked and what they were made of, and used that magic on the wise dragon Rasper. that plan didn't work as he had hoped. for while the dragon Rasper became the Ender Dragon and ruled over the Ender Men, the god of chaos could not control the Ender Dragon.
so, the Ender Dragon simply went to the end, his mind a blank husk, no longer remembering that he was formerly a proud, mighty dragon. he simply existed now, flying around needlessly.

now, the goddess of death was furious with the god of chaos, and fought a mighty battle with him, their abilities clashed, creating random monsters all over the world.
the first hit was struck by the god of chaos, his war hammer hit the goddess of death with a huge explosion. that created Creepers, the crawled out from her chest and began wandering the world, looking for humans to kill by explosion.
the second and third hits were struck by the goddess of death, swiping at the god of chaos quickly with her sword. she chopped the arm of the god of chaos, this arm was damaged by the explosion of the first creeper, peeling his skin off. the bone fell when she sliced, and created the first skeleton.
the third, cut his leg. from the leg, zombies were born, they immediately began aimlessly wandering, looking for humans to eat.

seeing that he was nearly beat, the god of chaos vanished to a plane of his own creation, no other god is capable of even seeing this place, The Nether.
there, the god of Chaos created an army, of all sorts of monstrous creations, zombie pigmen; his infantry. ghasts; his artillery, blazes; his shock troops, and lava slimes; his siege troops.
he made a giant portal, capable of setting all sorts of hell on the world, his army prepared, and began exiting his massive portal.

however, on the other side, an army of humans was waiting. a tribe of humans had been in a forest near the mountain where the final three dragons roared, they decided to investigate, and were gifted powers by the goddess of death. they, in turn, promised to worship her for all time. they named her Mortis, and began their work of preparing against the attack of the god of chaos.
they traveled all over the land, for generations, eventually, they found tribes who would join them in the battle. all the tribes together elected a leader, the leader prepared the army, the majority of the army would be waiting for the god of chaos to open his gate, Mortis and the other gods banded together to guess where he'd open it. it was figured to be on his 'throne' as he called it, a hill, in the center of the biggest lava lake.
while the standing army waited for the gate to appear, the followers of Mortis founded their own kingdom, at the base of the tallest mountain. they were tasked with creating a separate army, that would wait out the major battle, and then rush in to the portal, enter the land of Nether, and fight their way to the base of the god of chaos. their pure existence in the nether would allow the other gods to go in and fight the god of chaos.

it was a massive battle, the main force took days to defeat the god of chaos's army. and then, it took more days for the followers of Mortis to fight their way through the nether.

eventually though, the god of chaos was defeated. and an agreement was made to spare his life. he would stay in the nether, and do whatever he wished there, as long as he did not attack the over world, and the other gods decided to keep out of the affairs of humans, giving just the barest of clues and hints as to what to do.

as a show of good faith, the god of chaos told mortis how to find the end portal, but unfortunately, the Dragon Rasper was too far gone, he would never be Rasper any longer, just the End Dragon.

Mortis, was extremely saddened by this. she retreated to the over world and her followers eventually found her on the tip of the tallest mountain. in her final act of completely being involved in human affairs, she crowned a member of her followers as king of them, and gave him the name 'Rasper', she then tasked them, over generations and generations, to find the end portal on their own (even though she knew where it was) and slay the End Dragon, putting the dragon Rasper at rest, finally.
she gave them the barest of hints, that the end portal was very near their kingdom, and finally left.

the Kingdom of Mortis was officially founded, Rasper, the new king of the Kingdom of Mortis, reached out to the man who led the rest of the armies and people.
Rasper asked him to found a High Kingdom, forming a ruling body of all the lands, and a central area for diplomacy.

Here's an idea I had:

"In a past so old it is new,
On a shore where nothing grew,
A sleeping God dreamt.

He dreamt of futures so far they are ancient,
And worlds so vast they are small,
And in them he also saw,
Five gods standing tall.

So He awoke from his slumber,
And gathered His power quite close,
And with it made five little seeds,
From which His children could grow.

To the first He gave His mind,
and all the wisdom within.
To the second He gave the knowledge,
That all things must begin.
To the third He gave His radiance,
A never ending light,
To the fourth He gave power,
Over darkness, death, and night.
To the fifth He gave His madness,
Which he knew would bring the world great sadness.

And He sent His sleeping children,
Deep into space and time,
To futures so far they are ancient,
To places without reason or rhyme.

And now He sleeps again,
And dreams His dreams once more,
And waits for the time of awakening,
On His bleak and distant shore."

Kind of a pre-mythology story/poem. What do you think?

Yeah, the name was really a placeholder. Much better for Him to have no name at all :-) I edited out some parts and put some new stuff in to make it sound nicer. I though the story being in poem form was suitable because poems tend to be more mysterious and hard to understand, which makes sense given the context of the story (i.e. It's a creation myth, which are generally mysterious).

So... RavenRasper is the descendant of the leader of the original leader of the northlands? Wow. But I still think that you shouldn't own the entire northlands, You can keep the city up there that's fine with me but I don't think you should own the entire place. Also is there going to be any other myths and legends? There really interesting.

Yeah, I'm already brainstorming and trying to create a whole bunch of mythological stories as well as history for the entire realm and it's people/places. I can't wait for update 1.3, which will allow me to put all my ideas (as well as those of other scribes, or just ordinary people who want to create a family history for themselves) in readable/writable books in-game, most of which will be stored in a public library where anyone and everyone can read them. I think High King Swar is allowing everyone to write their own family histories (as I said earlier) as long as it fits in and isn't too crazy (like saying you're an avatar of one of the gods, or your parents were a creeper and a human (eww), or your family were cannibals that only ate people's faces which they carefully dipped in chocolate while riding purple elephants on the moon and sipping champagne. That kind of thing.). You'll have to ask the High King about this, however, as I am unsure of his ultimate decision.

holy hell.. that poem was.. beautiful. exactly what i had hoped for :D

i wrote myself as the owner of the northlands because we were called there by mortis, but all of that is moot now, and not official mythology, from this point forward, the only official mythology is created by Weaver.

that being said, i'll edit my original post once we flesh it out (you and I, Weaver) and then continue to update it when major things are changed or added on.

Thanks for the support Raven!

Here's a blurb I submitted to Swar awhile ago, and it got his approval. May need to do some editing to make it fit in the new-ish world, but here is it's current form:

On the Swar Family:

Back when the world was young and fresh, Flora, god of life, and Leawa, goddess of light, fell in love. Their children would become the first humans. The first of their children, when he was born, was seen by Knox, god of wisdom. Knox saw in this new-born the potential of the human race, who's nature was not bound as the God's were, and thus had infinite possibilities before them. He blessed this child, so that it would one day possess almost as much wisdom as Knox himself. The boy grew up quiet and thoughtful. He was not at all like his younger siblings, who were mostly loud. In fact, he never spoke at all. The first time he spoke was when Flora and Leawa asked him what name he wanted. He thought long and hard. Eventually, he said,

"Swar."

And that became his name, as it would be the name of all his eldest sons after him, from then to now. Swar underwent many journeys and adventures, a good deal of which have been recorded as some of the greatest tales of the realm. Eventually, he became the first High King. While there is no longer a High King in the realm, Swar IV guides the path of the realm as it's Arc.
