As I promised, I'm going to work on subtitles "For Kayako" after the current DC. So far I've read two books for this event.

Posted Image
1) For Kayako / Lee Hwe-Song (Ri Kaisei)
(Shinchosha Publishing Co., Ltd, 1970)

2) Aisetsu to Tsusetsu / Kohei Oguri
(Heibonsha Publishers Ltd. [Heibonsha Publishers Ltd. library], 1996 October)

The latter is particularly interesting : a volume of collected essays written between 1981 and 1986, which offers self-reflexive meditations on filmmaking and life in general. I'll translate several excerpts from this book and post them here later on.

[Films mentioned in "Aisetsu to Tsusetsu"]

1: Ashes and Diamonds (1958, Andrzej Wajda)
2: It Happened in Huayanay (1981, Federico García Hurtado)
3: Pirosmani (1969, Giorgi Shengelaya)
4: Battleship Potemkin (1925, Sergei M. Eisenstein)
5: Mabuta no haha (1962, Tai Katô)
6: Come and See (1985, Elem Klimov)
7: Agony: The Life and Death of Rasputin (1981, Elem Klimov)
8: The Descent of the Nine (1985, Christos Shopakhas)
9: The Seeds of Vengeance (1985, Zelito Viana)
10: The Mummy (1970, Chadi Abdel Salam)
11: Falling Leaves (1966, Otar Iosseliani)
12: Reconstruction (1970, Theo Angelopoulos)

Any thoughts on the matter would be welcome.

Looking very much forward to reading those passages you are planning to translate.
Also need to see something by Oguri, so any subtitles will come in handy. ;)

To please the majority is the requirement of the Planet Cinema. As far as I'm concerned, I don't make a concession to viewers, these victims of life, who think that a film is made only for their enjoyment, and who know nothing about their own existence.
