Based on the order in which our 24 managers showed up and called for each one's genre in the previous thread, here is the distribution by groups. I simply took the first six as the heads of the groups and then I just assigned a manager to each group following the order and the multiples of 6.

3C. WBA - "ME IS ANOTHER: LOVE STREAMS"
4C. Gylfi - "OH! WHAT A LOVELY WAR!"

GROUP E
1E. White Nyte - "WORLDS IN DECAY: SCI-FI HALLUCINATIONS AND NIGHTMARES"
2E. Brad S - "SHAKESPEARE CINEMA"
3E. Rangurē - I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT JUST ANIME: ANIMATION"
4E. Rischka - "EXISTENTIAL ROAD TRIPS"

GROUP F
1F. Mesnalty- "UNORTHODOX VAMPIRE MOVIES"
2F. Bewitched Reel - "GOD'S LONELY MAN"
3F. Karl - "DAYS AND NIGHTS IN THE FOREST"

My vote for March 2nd as well. This can give us a little head start to watch films before the voting begins but if people are waiting for the matches to begin to start watching films then I don't mind Feb 23rd either.

and there's also the short films poll so maybe march 2nd is the best idea. i've only watched a few films so far and i'd like to get more of a headstart. should we vote or something?

No, let's not make it another elaborate voting thing. Javier, take the call man. You are the boss.

I'm for starting this as originally planned and announced here.
Suddenly starting one month earlier seems like insanity.
To please the majority is the requirement of the Planet Cinema. As far as I'm concerned, I don't make a concession to viewers, these victims of life, who think that a film is made only for their enjoyment, and who know nothing about their own existence.

^ As opposed to idly waiting for a month?

Keep in mind that two of the films in Group A are shorts. I'd be fine with either Feb 23rd or March 2nd, but can fully understand those who want more of a headstart.

As opposed to going the way this was planned and announced. ;)

What's the point of even having a schedule, if we constantly keep changing it, because someone would like that, and another one maybe that, and how about that, etc. :(

The schedule was always tentative and subject to change depending on how long it would take to upload the films. Now that they're all up, why wait?

On the other hand, I'd have no problem if the question when to start was put up to vote for all 24 managers.

You could always just post your thoughts and frames etc immediately in the respective thread and then refer to them come voting time to refresh your memory! Oh wait... where are all the first round intro/discussion threads?? GET ON IT MANAGERS!!!

where are all the first round intro/discussion threads?
Indeed.

Imo it makes no sense to start this if managers still plan on creating a thread and introducing their films.

As far as I know, the first four films from the first 2 matches haven't been introduced yet, as there was no need to hurry and still lots of time to do so till March 23rd. :shifty:

Voting threads have always included discussion anyway - not just the tallying of votes - so I was planning on leaving it for those. But if you really want us to post separate discussion threads, that can be done quickly and easily enough.

Yeah, I know that intros aren't mandatory.

But maybe, some of the 24 managers who don't log in every day, have planned to make an elaborate intro till March 23rd or later, before their matches are supposed to start.

I agree, I'm also very much in favor of such threads.

For example, if I watch one film from a match and not the other, it might make sense to post abut it and comment about it in a thread for that film but less so in the voting thread.

Anyway I don't mind starting on the 2nd.

Intro threads are good to read over, and have enjoyed everyone's efforts here with them...but mostly discussion takes place in the voting threads at the time of the match. There's often more energy for that though, if there is an intro thread to refer to.

Do you use pro tools at all? If you have no issue with that it'srobably an Internet problem, since pro tools is pretty system heavy all around.

ProTools actually isn't really system-intensive at all, on its own. If you consider that it's been around for about 20 years, and would run sort of okay on desktop computers even way back then, it can't need all that much memory or cpu to operate. But the system load is variable, and depends largely on the plugins you're using. Reverbs are easily the most system-intensive standard plug, so if you're using pro reverbs and put a few of those on different tracks, you can max out even a good system. But video processing is generally way more system-crazy than audio processing.

James - my CPU runs hot too when streaming stuff, on Mac. I was using Safari, then switched to Chrome, but I think Chrome might be even worse. So I don't have any good advice, browser-wise. The less you ask your system to do, the better things should work, so I'd always shut down any torrents especially. But your memory should be perfectly fine for the purpose, so if you're having problems, you're either asking your CPU to do too much at once, or your internet just isn't good enough!

yea, same here. but now I like Chrome better than Safari. ha

my internet sucks, so I've been trying to leave my KG stuff going in the background to try and build up ratio. I suspected that utorrent might be a contributing factor (and maybe it is) but I couldn't confirm it looking in Activity Monitor. and my mac begins to run hot even when I reboot and have nothing but Chrome going (and streaming). it's aggravating. I don't know a great deal about computers or anything, but I do know that heat is your worst enemy in almost all things electronic.

never really looked in to Pro Tools much as I got Logic for a really great price (music student discount) and have liked it a lot. I wonder why it has such a bad reputation for cpu usage (I've heard these complaints about it's being system intensive before). like you say, I wouldn't think any DAW would be especially more intensive than another.
