Based on the order in which our 24 managers showed up and called for each one's genre in the previous thread, here is the distribution by groups. I simply took the first six as the heads of the groups and then I just assigned a manager to each group following the order and the multiples of 6. GROUP A 1A. DT - "WE ARE FAMILY" 2A. Brian Davisson - "I WANNA MARRY A LIGHTHOUSE KEEPER" 3A. Mauries - "THE KILLING SEA" 4A. Javier Quintero - "MY NIGHTS WITH IMPERSONATORS ARE MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN YOUR DAYS WITH YOUR REAL SELF" GROUP B 1B. Greg X - " GOD IS LOVE, BUT KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF" 2B. Mario Gaborovic - "COMING-OF-AGE: BRINGING BACK MEMORIES" 3B. The New Janitor - "TERMINAL ILLNESS AND DEATHLY DECLINE!" 4B. Tuggingonmustaches - "MATRIBHUMI'S MALAISE" GROUP C 1C. Rokas - "STRUGGLE IN THE VILLAGE" 2C. Jirinvk - "BEARDED LADIES, FEMININE MOUSTACHE, HIRSUTISM" 3C. WBA - "ME IS ANOTHER: LOVE STREAMS" 4C. Gylfi - "OH! WHAT A LOVELY WAR!" GROUP D 1D. Brando - "ROMANCE AT DA DOCKS" 2D. M_Penalosa - "WOMEN SLUMMING WITH BAD BOYS" 3D. Cani - "Y NO SÉ LO QUE PENSARÁ ELLA, OR THE BECHDEL TEST" 4D. Mischa - "STEPS TO PECULIARITY" GROUP E 1E. White Nyte - "WORLDS IN DECAY: SCI-FI HALLUCINATIONS AND NIGHTMARES" 2E. Brad S - "SHAKESPEARE CINEMA" 3E. Rangurē - I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT JUST ANIME: ANIMATION" 4E. Rischka - "EXISTENTIAL ROAD TRIPS" GROUP F 1F. Mesnalty- "UNORTHODOX VAMPIRE MOVIES" 2F. Bewitched Reel - "GOD'S LONELY MAN" 3F. Karl - "DAYS AND NIGHTS IN THE FOREST" 4F. Budd - "ELECTRIC DREAMS" And here is the schedule for matches during Group Stage. WBA: I also think very highly of Confidential: Secret Market, but understand those who may stay away from the subject matter for personal reasons. 2DeadMagpies asked how she may get a link to films for viewing, me too, whenever that happens. Some animation is great, though Don Bluth wasn't something I appreciated. If I thought the length of a film was a strategy a manager used, I probably would skip it, but then I would have missed the long and delicious Manoel de Oliveira work, Satin Slipper--and wouldn't I have been the loser then. So I don't try to outguess the guessers. But viewing time in the past wasn't quite as precious as in this cup.

I'm kind of hoping the only strategy people are using comes in deciding which order to present their films, not in choosing films in hopes some people don't watch them. I just want the movies people like best, not excessive worries over gamesmanship, since that seems to often cause useless arguments over procedure, which isn't the point, the cup is supposed to be about useless arguments over merit! Oh, and animation is swell as far as I'm concerned, exploitation films not so much, but I'm not going to assume from subject matter alone that a film is exploitative or not. I should have expected animation to be a bit divisive. But whoever ITT said something like "It would be silly to expect everyone to like your genre" makes sense to me. I'm certainly not trying to short change you guys though.. heh And the only Japanese rape film that certainly fits that category is 'Go Go! Second Time Virgin'. Is that the master of them all or something? Haven't watched it yet, but It's on one of my hard drives |

Right. If first round films are all already loaded, let 'er rip. Certainly it shouldn't take a month for managers to get their shit in gear! Get with the program, people. Who's yet to give Javier the links? Hop, hop! |

Most don't provide links. We have to do them ourselves but then that's the charm of these events. We make films available for everyone to watch, even those without access to them. It's as good as a web based film festival. Edited by tuggingonmoustaches, Feb 16 2015, 03:42 PM.

As long as the film is uploaded in the best possible/available video amnd sound quality, I'm fine with either solution. Though some (who understand a certain language) would probably prefer it if the subs could be switched off as an option. |

I only recognize about half the directors or films in the picks so far and some of them I've wanted to see for a long time, like Le silence de la mer and Eros + Massacre. Watching another Jancso film will be cool, seeing The Red Psalm at 11AM dead tired after a sleepless night meant that I felt it flew right over my head. The best thing though is that all these films are new to me and this is gonna be great |

WBA's just going to have to find another way to watch at least some of mine, then. Because a lot of 'em are going up on Youtube on non-HD display quality which, given my low level of technology in the barbarian land I inhabit, play perfectly acceptably on what screens I see em on. Penalosa and Javier have the links to YOU AND I, but I dunno if I should post it here because it's already once been removed by Mosfilm from my Youtube channel. |

Yeah, I'll try to get better quality (I know, if I had a SD display this probably wouldn't be an issue...) from other places. But in the cases that I can't get 'em, I guess I will just have to refrain from certain matches. Having an HD display and a Blu-ray drive seemingly isn't always an advantage. EDIT: The treacherous thing is that often when I click on a link, the picture quality seems fine or even great in a small display window (like Youtube's). But then I click on the full-screen option and damned!
