Nasir Hussains YAADON KI BAARAAT was intended as a celebratory interlude of sorts, in case I actually won some matches in the group stage and advanced to the next round, and as a sort of gift for all who had previously voted for any of my selections. It was also supposed to serve as a breather before all the dread and gloom of the final three french 'downers' I had (and still have) selected as the last entries.

After advancing completely by chance, I wasn't sure if I should keep it, but I think it's such a marvelously free-spirited and inventive human drama, which tries to defy all the long-standing sufferings and buried traumata of the protagonists through the healing powers of a loving family, and especially many groovy tunes, that I decided to feature it nevertheless, as I don't want to deprive anyone of the joys of great Indian music (song and dance numbers included).

Procession of Memories is an Indian classic, featuring countless funky and soulful melodies by the great Rahul Dev Burman. And then some!

It's a tale about three brutally orphaned siblings who have grown up under different circumstances and are trying to reconcile and change their seperate fates by finding each other again as adults. Lighting and obscuring their paths are a love interest of the rich boy on one side, and a mob of gangsters on the side of the brother who's become a criminal. But everything will finally lead all three to discover the truth about their past and the one fatal incident which initially sent them on their journey.

This film is of course also focused on all the main ingredients of my genre, but in a more light-hearted way than most of my other selections. Still there will be enough clash of cultures, rampant desires, identity crises, fragilities and resiliences of the body, traumatic outbursts, spiritual needs, hallucinations, rituals and the dignity of strangers, to satisfy any and all needs of even the most obsessed and fanatical SCFZ genre lovers during and in-between all the singing and guitar-jamming of the movie.

Incidentally, Yaadon Ki Baaraat also features the official ME IS ANOTHER:LOVE STREAMS theme song and theme dance, so here's a clip of it from the movie as an aperitif.
If this excerpt doesn't get your pants wet, you probably won't have as much fun with the film as I had, though I hope you'll still enjoy the experience. :sly:

To please the majority is the requirement of the Planet Cinema. As far as I'm concerned, I don't make a concession to viewers, these victims of life, who think that a film is made only for their enjoyment, and who know nothing about their own existence.

:D

I must admit that I was a bit more interested in Neetu Singh while watching Yaadon Ki Baaraat, and would have loved to have seen much more of her in the film.
Unfortunately she doesn't have to do any acting per se, and her character has no place in the narrative.
But it supposedly gave her career another push and (more) lead roles would follow.

Given nrh has derailed this thread already, I don't feel bad about using this opportunity to share some ridiculous neetu singh - rishi kapoor adorableness.

movie also features a song with the two of them cavorting around town being happy drunks in love... can't seem to find the video for that unfortunately..

I must be one of the few people who's voted for all your films, so this turned out exactly like you said. Cheers WBA, here's hoping you survive long enough to keep adding more soul to the mix. B-)

Thanks for the support!!! I'm honored that you enjoyed all my selections so far, and congratulate you for your excellent taste in cinema. :toast:
I don't know how long I'll be able to survive, but miracles obviously seem to happen, so maybe Eliecer will retire because of some pain in the back, and I'll manage the WBA-slam. :sly:

And now I'll have to go back to the voting-threads and check if u really voted for all of my stuff. ^_^ :sh:
