Part of the "Y no sé lo que pensará ella, or the Bechdel test" genre.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A group of four high school girls decide to put together a band for their school cultural festival. Three days before they are to play the festival, the guitarist and singer quit the band. The remaining members must figure out what to do or risk canceling. They need to find a new member to be the singer, so they ask the first girl who walks by. Unfortunately, she doesn't speak Japanese very well… It’s a race against time as the group struggles to learn three tunes for the festival’s rock concert—including a classic '80s punk-pop song by the Japanese group The Blue Hearts called “Linda Linda." How the film passes the Bechdel test: It's about the music, man. And friendship, and the comradeship (and awkwardness) that comes with trying to hold a gig together after your original bandmates bail out. For anyone interested in the origins of the Tokyo punk rock scene, I recommend searching out Hideaki Tsushima’s documentary “Rockers”: Edited by Eliecer, Aug 6 2015, 07:45 PM.

I don' think I have a film in my entire lineup that could possibly have a chance against Lind Linda on this forum. Nice choice! And it will be interesting to see what you come up with in the next round.

To please the majority is the requirement of the Planet Cinema. As far as I'm concerned, I don't make a concession to viewers, these victims of life, who think that a film is made only for their enjoyment, and who know nothing about their own existence. letterboxd * tumblr * website | |
