THRIFTING - shopping in thrift stores - is something I've always enjoyed but have been doing it even more lately and have found some terrific bargains! For instance, today I got a Kodak digital camera with rechargeable batteries (and charging dock) for only $10.50. It has zoom, flash, auto-centering and takes gorgeous, vibrant photos AND videos! SO pleased and excited! (My old camera died last Spring, which is why you've seen no new photos or videos of my furry Dynamic Duo.) The only drawback is that the USB cord is missing... but I can get one of those for 10 dollars or less.

Also found a big, sturdy old Mix Master 10-speed mixer. The kind of quality they don't make anymore. It was priced at $25.00 but was 30 percent off - a fantastic bargain!

Do you like thrifting? What are some of your favorite finds?

I love thrift stores also love flea markets. It's a great way to spend the day and you just never know what cool stuff you may find.
It's also frustrating sometimes when you see toys or a lunch box that you had as a kid and now it's priced for $50. and you start kicking yourself for getting rid of it.

Oh, I know what you mean! About 10 years ago, I was thrilled to find a Growing Hair Chrissy doll at Salvation Army! She was in a locked glass display case... and she was $40.00! I fibbed to the man I was with at the time, when I brought her home; I told him I'd paid $20.00. (He thought even that much was excessive.)

She still sits on my Treasures shelf to this day, next to Jaime, Steve and Steve's Space Capsule/Diagnostic Center.

And once in a great while, thrifting results in an unexpected surprise! This is my latest Facebook status:

Well that was startling, to say the least! Finally got a USB cord for the camera I bought at the thrift store... happily loaded my first few test pics onto the computer... and got a bit of a surprise. The first photo was of a man I didn't know. Okay, no problem. Scrolled to the next photo... and there was the same man NAKED ON THE TOILET!!! Full frontal, nothing left to the imagination! A little something extra for my $10.50, I guess. (And oh yes - camera does take sharp, clear photos.)

Actually, for me, it would be more like kicking myself for doing experiments in centripetal force aka "let's windmill this thing until the handle comes flying off..."

Haven't been thrifting or antiquing in a long time. When I was still living in Orange County, I use to go to the Antique Orange Mall in downtown Orange. Found a great George IV souvenir coronation book as a birthday present for my mom in there once. Saw some amazing stuff in there, old Disney pins, Vargas artwork, Parrish artwork, Eisenberg ice jewelry, photos of movie stars from the 40's and the 50's (no Richard Anderson, though d4w y5u ).

I tend to go straight to the book section in the thrift stores. Got a couple of really good books from Goodwill.

There are more than a few dolls from 70's I wish I had. The Princess Leia doll really comes to mind. Use to drool over the back of the box on all the different hairstyles you could do with her. Really, really wanted her at the time, but I think she was $25, so my mom told me it was never going to happen. Have a lot of Amidala dolls to make up for it. LOL And have a few action figures, too. Kind of passed up the dolls for the action figures because they're cheaper and don't take up as much space.

I needed to get a few pairs of sweat pants or flannel pants a size or 2 bigger than my usual, to accomodate 2 badly-swollen legs, so we stopped at the thrift store again today. I got two pairs of flannel pajama pants, a flannel nightgown, a loose pair pjs (top and bottom), 2 over-sized shirts to sleep in AND a really nice (regular) t-shirt... all for just over 7 dollars. VERY pleased with my thrift store haul today!
