Oscar's Family

I have a question about Oscar's family. I've read so many great fanfictions on this site that I'm not sure if I'm confusing canon with fanfic. In the BW episode "Iron Ships and Dead Men," Oscar tells Jaime about his brother, Sam. He mentions that Sam was his idol. Was anything else ever said in the show (that episode or another one) about what happened to Oscar's family after Sam disappeared. Did Oscar's mother die a short time later (of a broken heart) and his father become distant?

I hope that someone will correct me if I'm wrong here. (Please?) To the best of my knowledge, though, what we learned about Oscar's family was only what was revealed in 'Iron Ships and Dead Men' - that he had an older brother named Sam (whom he idolized), who died at Pearl Harbor. That was all... until the writers of 'Bionic Showdown' did something inexplicable. A direct quote from the Wiki -

Oscar Goldman is Jim's uncle, and he states that Jim's parents "died five years ago". The fact that Jim is Goldman's nephew, presents a dilemma. Up until this point, the only known sibling of Oscar Goldman is Sam Goldman, who died in the attack on Pearl Harbor during Word War II, as revealed on The Bionic Woman episode Iron Ships and Dead Men. The movie does not elaborate on who Oscar's other sibling could be.

One of our members (Bionika) wrote a story that covered how Oscar could have been Jim's uncle. Several others (Messyhead and OJfan come to mind) wrote their own detailed looks into Oscar's background and his family. But to the best of mu knowledge, there was nothing else given to us in the 'official' canon.

Thanks, bionic4ever. I have an idea for a story about Oscar's past and hope to get around to writing it one day. I'm not going to worry about anything we learned in the reunion movies.
